What I did was take a die grinder with a thin metal cut off and cut the original drip edge to within about an 1/8" or so still sticking out. The crimp weld is still intact at this point and if I cut it all the way down the welding I would do would have created at least an 1/8" of material. So no welding was done. Cut as straight as possible, take your time, then you can go back with a grinder or if you cut straight enough I used a metal file and worked the edge till it was nice and straight. I then filled body filler from that 1/8" lip up to the roof in a tapered fashion. Once that was all worked out I clamped a piece of 1/8" plastic to the roof at the point where I wanted the new drip edge and filled in up to the plastic edge which gave me a nice clean straight edge to work with. Many hours of hand sanding later it was complete. It really wasn't hard at all. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I have been looking for a while for something like you used and would like to know what it is from? Also, how did you ( if you had a pic that would be nice too ) contact the fuel opening with the fender from the inside. Is there a gap or is it flush to avoid spills and odor??
