slownrusty
Car was only a week or so old. Driver is 22 and apparently was doing somewhere between 90-120mp/h in a neighborhood and lost control of the car and hit a pretty big tree, stripping all the bark off the tree. Skid marks were measured at approx. 490-500feet. From the pics you can't even make it out as an Evo. The harnesses were installed the day before the accident and probably saved the lives of the driver and the passenger. The driver side wrapped around the tree. The driver had to be cut out of the car and is in a coma. The passenger walked away. Every single component on the car is destroyed absolutely nothing is salveable on it. Even the Recaros are all bent up and distorted. A work colleage lives 20+feet from the accident and glass from the Evo was thrown all over his back yard and shed. Scary the results from inexperience and a high powered car. http://www.pbase.com/phast/evowned&page=1 Yasin

It really is a shame that some ppl that buy high performance cars dont really know how to properly drive theme. It is really sad. Though i hope the kid pulls through. JasonE
Dude; between 90 and 120! Anyone going that fast through a neighborhood needs a serious head examination. Can we say Death Wish
Moridin
That's a suicide waiting to happen when you go that fast. I hope the kid pulls through. I can't believe all those guys are wishing he was dead. That's hard for me to fathom that anyone would wish a person in a car accident dead other than maybe a drunk driver. Well, I guess some people have no compassion anymore. Well, it's too bad that a nice car like that had to go that way.
Jay1970Z
A couple weeks ago I was up late on the internet, browsing HybridZ as a matter of fact, when I heard some kinda bang from outside my house. I thought it was probably thunder and it wasn't too loud so I ignored it until I got up to go to the bathroom about 10 minutes later. On my way back from the bathroom I went to my room to look out my window and noticed it wasn't raining or even too cloudy out. I then thought maybe someone was messing with my car, so I watched outside for a few minutes. All the sudden I saw a police car flying down my street with his lights on and stop at the end of the cul-de-sac. I thought something might be wrong at my neighbors house so I went outside. Soon about 10 more police cars and 3 or 4 firetrucks and paramedics were on the scene. I could here a guy screaming and somebody yelling "Hang in there!" At this point I thought it was a hostage situation or something or someone was trying to kill themself. I walked down to the end of the street and on the other side of the cul-de-sac there was some smoke. The closer I looked I could see mangled up metal and a tire sticking straight up in the air from behind a hedge. Apparently a drunk driver and his girlfriend were traveling back home from a party that was a few streets over. They lived in my neighborhood also and made a wrong turn onto the other end of my street instead of the street before mine which goes all the way through. The guy was doing about 60-70 mph in a convertible mustang and went straight into a huge root, flipping the car end over end and hitting a tree. The driver escaped with 2 broken legs, a broken hip and a skull fracture but his girlfriend was pinned under the car and killed. Apparently neither was wearing seatbelts. That was a night I will never forget, if anyone sees something like that in person, it gives you all the incentive in the world never to drink and drive. If you are going that fast through a neighborhood you have no regard for the lives of ppl around you. I wouldnt be wishing anyone dead, but you wouldnt catch me wishing they pull through. Let God sort 'em out.

RPMS
Hey, when you're in your early 20's, you're Superman, right? Bullets just bounce right off you. And since you're invulnerable, other folks don't die either, right? They just stand back up and dust themselves off just like in the cartoons. So you drive 100 in a neighborhood at night - what's the worst that could happen? It's too bad that it's human nature to do this sort of thing. ZROSSA
We have had the evo's and sti's gtrs and other very high performance jap cars here for about 15 years now. They are imported used from japan and are very cheep used, even buy U.S. standards. So we now have the situation where you can pick up old one for less then a couple of grand do some pretty easy back yard mods to them and have a 4 wheel drive 300 hp rocket in the hands of kids. They get togetter in packs and do stupid things like kids do. The back wash from all of this is that the police and gov. are really begining to get mean about modified cars. Noise control regs, abilitly to confiscate cars, Vague laws desined to suit the cops instead of being clear as to what you can and cant do. As usual every one is standing around and just letting this happen without putting up much of a fight. Now i can only imagine that over in the land of litigation its going to worse for most of you guys if these guys continue to behave like they were in the movies. We need to find a way to educate and direct these guys need for speed into areas that wont conflict with modern social ideals or we will all lose out. Just some thoughts, I sometimes think that "1984" was just thirty years early. Douglas
