Guest tom sixbey
I need a durable and solvent resistant paint for my suspension components - what have you guys had success with? - besides VHT :|
Mike kZ
I've used this stuff on my calipers. It's self leveling 2 part paint, pretty tuff stuff. It comes in red, yellow, blue, silver, black, green, white, purple, and gold. It only comes in gloss though. Each kit covers 4 sq ft or 4 calipers. http://www.eastwoodcompany.com/itemdy01.asp?T1=10270Z&Dep_Key1=spc
Guest tom sixbey
ahhh - eastwood.... great stuff i just ordered the chassis black paint... thanks Mike
Tim240z
I used aerosol hammerite (smooth finish) on my strut tubes. I used the brush on stuff for my control arms and front X-member (to make it thicker). Goes on real nice and dries smooth and shiny, and 'hammer tough' Tim
zcarnut
For suspension parts I recommend powder coating. Very durable. It's just more expensive than the other options mentioned

spotfitz
I have POR-15'ed ALL my suspension parts, except the differential and the coil overs. The latter is powdercoated and anodized(depending on the part)and I haven't seen a chip, scratch or scuff in any of the POR-15, but I have chips in the coil springs, which are powder coated. I plan to do more powder coating, but not anywhere rocks can get to it. Not nearly are tough as I was expecting it to be. Is the powder coating on coil springs softer, to flex with the spring? 260DET
For something different an acrylic etch primer by itself is working for me and mine. The theory was that as it wouldn't be exposed to direct light it would not degrade. And having a thin coating would reduce chipping due to stones etc impacting, plus of course an etch primer sticks like s**t to a blanket. Has to be sprayed on of course but it dries quickly. The matt finish looks good too.
BRAD D
My suspention and diff is all POR-15, Looks good and it is very tough.
Nismo280zEd
POR15 is some badass shit... it holds up well against fire i found out recently 2. and hydraulic fluid doesn't do anything to it... Hammerite is great as well... but takes forever to dry and hydraulic fluid loves to eat it up, but it doesn't chip. -Ed
Guest cowboy6280
where can you get the hammerite stuff? thanks
Wagz
I've been to paint shops all over the Portland area that carry Hammerite. None of them stock the smooth finish. Tim: I know you are in the LA area, but where did you find smooth finish? Any national chains carrying it?
