corbeau makes nice ones.

Sparco, Bride, Recaro, and MOMO all make great seats that can fit in Z's that will handle the g's..

all just depends on how much you wanna spend

I owned a 1st gen Eagle Talon TSI...nice car. I should have never sold it. As far as the feel of the seats, I can say first hand that they are nice. I am thinking of trying to get a hold of some for my car. That, or see if the seats from my Probe GT fit. I really like them as well.

well...I am always trying to cut the prices down on everything...before I spend enough to own a new 350z...ya know... Looking for an effective seat for few dineros

second that motion!!!

Racing seats are EXPENSIVE... we need a cheap alternative that wont take a rocket scientist to install :)

i too have heard that miata seats are good, as well as prelude/integra seats.

Anybody know if someone has tried sets from a 2nd gen Probe GT? When the weather gets better here, I might try and pull my passenger one and see how well it fits. But that will be awhile. Its cold here and there is snow and ice on the ground.

Seats from an early 90's Prelude are what I have, I fabbed some brackets to attach them to the stock rails, unfortunately it was kind of a pain and they sit higher than stock so a smaller steering wheel blocks visibility of the gauges. The driving position is very good though, and they are comfortable and adjustable (they have adjustable side bolstering! Turn a knob back for a near-flat road-trip seat, turn it forward for tight road-race bolstering).

Ya, prelude seats are ok. I have an 89 prelude and the seats are pretty good. They also have adjustable lumbar support.

For my Z I was actually thinking about going a little more for the comfort than race appeal and was considering seats from something like a Dodge intrepid. I test drove a mid-90's(?) intrepid and the seats were awesome. Like 50 different adjustments, power everything, and would hug you and hold onto you like a giant hand. They dont look much like race seats, but they perform very well and have excellent comfort. They also werent too wide, so they might fit in a Z.

Is that second pic of corbeaus a pair in a lifted pickup or suv? What, do they want something to hug then really good when they roll it? "Ya, my bronco turns on a dime, gotta have the corbeaus"

It really depends on how tall you are! I asked a similar question a little while ago and never got a clear answer. I am 6'3" and really can't change the amount of head room available to me. So I have to do some serious mods to any seat I have found that I want to put in.

zguy, I pulled some MX3 seats from the JY a while back because I was sick of the bench seat in my p/u. The floor in the MX3 is really weird and one of the sliders is about 3 or 4 inches higher than the other side. I'm sure it could be fabbed to work, but I saw that and sold them to a buddy for something else I needed because I didn't want the hassle.

Really comfy seats though, and you'd figure they'd fit in just about anything if they fit an MX3.

Are there any seats with a short back that will fit? Ford Escort or MG would be an example, I'm sure there are many others, but will the mounts fit too? Maybe i'll try to swap my Escort seats in Spring. Many sport cars from the 60s had short seats, so I thought I give a look. I thought they would be easier to install and look a little sportier without all the height. My car is basic on the inside and I thought some short seats would go with the decor.

thx.

this is what I got now:

Note: Last summer, I dropped by some car dealers to look at the shift lever handles for something better than the cheapo t-handle the Z car has, and they kicked me out! for just looking! The salesman didn't want anybody in there that wasn't interested in buying a new car. Maybe it was the old jeans & sneakers, T-shirt I was wearing. Gotta wear a sport jacket next time... Yeesh...

We need to get a collection of seat dimensions, like width, so we can see what's narrow or wide, to suit personal preferences. I like narrow.

So if you got seats or go to the JY, take your ruler!

thx.

my wife also has an '89 prelude, with nice cloth black seats, with the adjustable lumbar and side bolstering. We're gonna be selling that car very soon, and have been thinking a LOT about trying to take those seats and put them in my car... I know a few of you guys have done this already... what tools would I need to adapt her seats to my car? How hard of a task is it?

Bastaad-

The least you'll weed is just a socket/wrench to turn the bolts out. Or a hex wrench. The Eclipse seats just had 4 bolts. There might be wires, but the tools at the ends of your fingers should work on that.

You didn't say what the width of the seats were! Or the width between the front bolts. We need to collect those 2 pieces of info. Maybe the length of the seat or the back height too.

thx.
