CruxGNZ
Last night, I took my Z out for one last drive with the L24. My goal was to blow the engine like I have been trying to do for over a year now, but all that happens is I float the valves. Oh well, less clean up anyway. This afternoon I walk out side to see this: With a huge smile on my face, I pull out the knife and dig in . Whoa baby, look what I found! There is a whole bunch of cool stuff in there. Scottie's GNZ had run out of time, it's life was over. Being the good person that Scottie is, he was a organ donor. All the parts you see there are from Scottie's Z and make my swap sooo much easier. I will keep the updates coming. Within the next week or so, the L24 will get pulled, and the GN engine bolted in . There will be many pictures for all that are interested. !M! Mike kZ
Let's bow our heads and have a moment of silence for Scottie's Z
stony
So what are teh plans for the EX gnz scottie?
240Z-DET
As Scottie eluded to earlier, "The GNZ is dead. Long live the GNZ!" At the very least, a part of the Scottie's GNZ will live in Mat's Z. Mat, it's been worth the wait and I can't wait for a ride!
EvilRufusKay
Awesome Mat!! Do you already have the GN motor?
Scottie-GNZ
Looks like the boxes actually survived! Stony, I am putting the drivetrain in a 2nd-gen RX7. Should start this weekend. BTW, Mark says hi. As you are probably aware, he is longer with Titan and is in the process of opening up his own fabrication business. Already has a 50,000 sq ft shop and waiting for his machinery. He will be doing my cage. He is also in the early stages of building an SR20-powered 240SX for the street-tire class to showcase the business and his goal is 1200+hp at the crank and hi-8s on DRs!!! I will put nothing pass him and his abilities.

Hybrid240z
I have the steering wheel of the GNZ and would take a picture of it installed on my Z, even though it has no drivetrain, but my digital camera is broken. I am trying to fix it though, but yeah long live the GNZ.

80LS1T
What is the plan as far as HP & TQ? Guy
CruxGNZ
Since I'll be dropping in a fresh engine, I will be sticking with the stock turbo, and stock injectors during the break in. Once it's broken in, I have some 42.5 lb (009's) injectors to play with. As far as how much power, well my buddy is really good at tuning these engines and has got a GN, which is ~1,000lbs. heavier, to run a 12 flat with little more than a chip, 110 race gas, turning up the boost and lots of tuning. This car should be plenty quick with the stock setup for now. With Desktop Dyno, my buddy and I figure that with a decent launch my Z will be mid elevens with the stock setup with the 3.54 rear end. When the summer is over and I have worked out all the bugs, then I will upgrade to a bigger turbo (probably a 60). I can't wait to take this thing to Road America and stretch it's legs! It's going to be so much fun to beat up on the exotics around here . !M!
dot
Hey Matt: Looks like Christmas came early at your place. Do you have a start up date in mind?
CruxGNZ
Hey Matt:Looks like Christmas came early at your place. Do you have a start up date in mind? Yeah' date=' I know, I was like a kid opening presents at Christmas . I am not going to rush things, so no date planned. I still need to order my gauges (they are not something you normaly see in a Datsun 8) ) and get my driveshaft made, so it's going to be a while yet. If it doesn't rain this Saturday, the L24 will come out and then all the fun starts. With Scotties x-member and tranny mount, and my Caspers engine harness, this [i']should[/i] go quite easy... but, there is always the stuff you don't count on. I have been wanting to do this swap for so long now. I kept telling people 2 months, for what seems like forever (probably 3 years). But with health problems and insurance companies screwing me over, my GNZ was put on hold while my life was sorted out. I am so happy that this swap is FINALLY begining! !M! CruxGNZ
Ha ha ... Hey, I have two sisters, my older sister just moved into town from Arizona, but she is married and has a kid. I should take you to a family party sometime (we have lots of them), I'm pretty sure you would get a kick out of the women in my family. I was actually welding for a good part of the day today. This Sunday I don't have anything planned except for the engine swap, weather permiting. I'll have all my tools out, so no big deal. Shoot me a call on my cell and I can weld that stuff up for you. Garrett has my number. !M!
Ivan280zt
No its ok one sister is more than enough for me . Well i will talk to garrett tonight and i will see if he wants to head out with me to the unknown land lol. I will give you call and let you know. CruxGNZ
Thanks. I will be posting many pics of everything, so everybody will get a detailed image of whats going on. Pictures are just easier to convey what is going on, rather than trying to explain it. It still looks like this Saturday the engine gets yanked and everything gets bolted in . I'm sure hoping there is no rain. My garage is a wood working shop, and no room for a vehicle. !M!
