Owen
Thanks, Yup, from scracth. The info on the process all came from Glenn, aka dot. Owen PS looking at your sig, those are pretty impressive numbers! Owen
blueovalz
Very nice job on the hood, and I am quite happy that it turned out so well after all the problems you had "learning" the trade. It all starts out as mat and resin, but with some patience and determination, an entirely unique, custom, and homemade creation that looks professionally made is the end result. Brad-ManQ45
Very nice - what did you use to form the vents?
Owen
Vents were made from foam and the glass was laid over them. The foam was later removed although could have been left in. Owen
dot
Hey Owen: Thanks for the mention. That is an outstanding part. My hood didn't turn out any where near as nice as yours. I do recognize your latches though. How did you get the underside smooth enough to paint black? (Or how long) I didn’t realize Mr. K still did the shows. Did you ask that kid’s mom where to get the shoes? I would have.
Synlubes
Owen, Looks great! I had been thinking about simular venting (maybe closer to the front)(starting just behind radiator support) to exhaust air coming thru the radiator and under hood out over the hood. Are the molds for your vents all one peice?
Owen
Hey Glenn, It took A LOT of sanding and filling for the underside. I was about to cry! Right before the latches went on, it was about 16 lbs, it's still a lot lighter so I am super satisfied. Couldn't have done it without your guys help! DCarrow , Thanks for the compliments. I think we have the same idea, I did not put the vents farther for some reason...don't remember what it was...but they are still close. If your hand is small enough you could probably reach in and take my rad cap. I didn't make molds for the vents, they are the one off items I orginally made for the steel hood. BTW, progress of the hood starts at Part 1 and ends at Part 3 http://www.v8zcar.com/s30z/aero-hood-pt1.htm Owen
