I see a lot of posts since my question (Who would be the perfect president?) and no one has even tried to answer it. Just like a politcian, blame, complain, but heaven forbid answer the question, you might have to defend it.

I have said it before in other threads. Quoting something from a Hollywood movie doesn't do much to enhance your credibility. I will take that statement one step further and say anyone who quotes or claims to have actually learned anything from a Micheal Moore film probably isn't worth talking to. Try reading a newspaper on a daily basis and you will see that nothing he presents is new information.

Even Osama's family has publicly taken exception to the incorrect information in that moronic film.

It is amazing how lazy people can be. Don't think it is biased propoganda? Ask people who know how to recognize it when they see it

I'm definitely going to vote for John Kerry in this up comming election. However, i'm not going to be trying to "pitch" my side of political values to anyone. All i can ask of people before voting in november is to read up on the candidates, from conservative and liberal papers/websites/TV programs AND DECIDE FOR YOURSELF!!! dont listen to anyone telling you who to vote for.

For Example, I turned on the television in the dining area of my pizza place last week durring the democratic convention. What i overheard disgusted me. John kerry is up on the television, and this group of guys start cracking jokes about john kerry about what a complete wimp he is, and how he grew up in a very rich family and has never really "manned up". OK,.....John Kerry served in vietnam as a volunteer, he could have easily dodged the draft and to call him a wimp after earning 3 purple hearts? If you are concerned with the next president's military history, just look at the facts.

My point is, i have no problem if you vote after learning everything you can about the candidates. If it is for Bush, Nader, or Kerry, if you objectively look at everything you can find on all the candidates and decide after that, i completely respect that. However there is a large population out there that really has no clue what the candidates stand for. They usually just vote for who their friends are voting for...or who their parents tell them to vote for. So please, all of you, sit down for 15 minutes a day, or even a week, until the election and just read up on the candidates. Some of my best friendships are with republicans and this election will not degrate anything from the friendship, only builds on it.

I got this in an email forward from a good friend:

"Subject: More Conflict...America under seige from within!

A government falls... the new, left-leaning leadership promises to seek

peace at any price. Terrorists vow to end the attacks as long as the new

regime "cooperates"...

Madrid, 2004? No. This time terrorists target U.S. cities in early

November -- and panicked voters throw the election to John F. Kerry --

to the cheers of gloating, bloodthirsty terrorists everywhere.

The tragic scenario continues...

Hundreds of television cameras zoom in as the new President, returning

from an "international peace conference" in Paris, steps to the bank of

microphones at Andrews Air Force Base.

In his deep, sonorous voice, President John F. Kerry -- flanked by Kofi

Annan and Jacques Chirac -- utters these fateful words:

"My fellow Americans, go home and sleep well. I return from Paris having

successfully negotiated with al Qaeda leaders. There will be no more

bombings. All U.S. troops in Iraq are now under United Nations command.

I have won peace for our troubled era."

Could it happen? Would President Kerry lead the free world to a second

Munich...?

My name is Tom Winter, Editor-in-Chief of HUMAN EVENTS. I've been

covering issues of war and peace for more than 40 years and I don't

scare easily. Yet, I don't know when I've read anything more chilling

than Reckless Disregard, the powerful new book by Lt. Col. Robert "Buzz"

Patterson, the decorated Air Force officer and pilot who carried the

nuclear codes -- American's nuclear strike capabilities -- for President

Bill Clinton.

During his years at the side of Bill Clinton, Lt. Col. Patterson saw "up

close and personal" precisely why Democrats cannot be trusted with

America's national security. You may have read his first book, a

national bestseller, Dereliction of Duty.

In Reckless Disregard -- which I will send you ABSOLUTELY FREE in

hardcover just to introduce you to HUMAN EVENTS -- Lt. Col. Patterson

reveals:

·

How anti-war Leftists (such as Frank Church, Ted Kennedy, Bill and

Hillary Clinton and John Kerry) hijacked the Democratic Party -- and

then used their power to emasculate our intelligence services and weaken

our military.

·

Why John Kerry is a "Trojan horse" of the Left -- a military veteran who

is the perfect embodiment of the "hate-the-military" Democrats -- a

political party that simply can no longer be trusted to defend America.

·

How right from the start Kerry saw Vietnam duty as a springboard for

political success, putting in for a Purple Heart a mere 24 hours after

he arrived -- even though his unit had not taken fire -- and then using

a little-known loophole to get transferred out of Vietnam after only

four months!

·

Kerry's "Silver Star" home-movie! Kerry chases and shoots a wounded

soldier -- in violation of the Geneva Convention policy on wounded

adversaries -- and then makes his crew return to reenact the scene and

film it with Kerry's Super 8 millimeter camera!

·

What Kerry's own commanding officer and mates say about his penchant for

demanding Purple Hearts for "wounds" other men treated with band-aids...

and which some say may have been self-inflicted.

·

In an act of possible treason, Kerry meets with the North Vietnamese

enemy in Paris just months after leaving the U.S. Navy -- and long

before the end of the war.

·

Eyewitness accounts: Kerry's speeches used as a propaganda tool by the

enemy; American POWs beaten and tortured as Kerry's anti-war statements

are thrown in their faces.

The much-hyped "liberal talk-radio" network with noxious comedian Al

Franken is flopping big-time. Why? Well, mainly, the country has no

interest in listening to Franken's rants because you can get exactly the

same message from the already liberal "mainstream" media!

Unknown Islamic aliens slipping across the border. Their destination

must be Israel or Iraq, right? WRONG! It's the United States. Muslim

prayer rugs and notebooks scribbled in Arabic are regularly found along

the border between the U.S. and Mexico.

Hushed-up horror story: At a federal trial an abortionist doctor admits

babies are sometimes born alive and squirming during partial-birth

abortions. Coverage on NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, PBS -- ZERO. At HUMAN EVENTS,

we published the testimony about these barbaric acts.

ABOUT who's really to blame for rising gas prices. Not OPEC. Not the oil

companies. Not Dick Cheney. The real culprits are the environmental

extremists who block our drilling for new oil, both offshore and in

Alaska, which is thought to contain the largest untapped reserves on the

planet.

PASS THIS ON!!

RCNSC, Pretty much correct. Until you can vote, your opinion is just that... Yours. I hope you continue to be as vigilant about your politics after you become of age. But I'd have to agree with Pop-n-Woods... Explains a lot!

Art, I vote M-E for president... Why? Because I'd really like to have the chance to be as apathetic as the last four decades worth of leaders... We've got people starving in the streets, school systems in shambles, our health care is a JOKE for over 50% of americans, and retirement looks more and more like a death sentance than peaceful co-existance into our golden ages... Tell me I'm wrong...

I've said it before, I'll demand it from my leaders with my vote... SEAL our boarders NORTH and SOUTH, East and WEST... BRING HOME ALL TROOPS. CUT OFF AID to the REST OF THE WORLD... And let GOD (or insert your religious symble here) Sort them out!

I agree Mike! :D

And to add more:

"WOULDN'T IT BE GREAT TO TURN ON THE TV AND HEAR GEORGE W. BUSH OR JOHN

KERRY GIVE THE FOLLOWING SPEECH?

My Fellow Americans:

As you all know, the defeat of Iraq regime has been completed. Since

congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our mission

in Iraq is complete.

This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of all American

forces from Iraq. This action will be complete within 30 days. It is now

to begin the reckoning.

Before me, I have two lists. One list contains the names of countries

which have stood by our side during the Iraq conflict. This list is

short. The United Kingdom, Spain, Bulgaria, Australia, and Poland are

some of the countries listed there.

The other list contains everyone not on the first list. Most of the

worlds nations are on that list. My press secretary will be distributing

copies of both lists later this evening.

Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign aid to those

nations on List 2 ceases immediately and indefinitely. The money saved

during the first year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the

Iraqi war.

The American people are no longer going to pour money into third world

Hell-holes and watch those government leaders grow fat on corruption.

Need help with a famine? Wrestling with an epidemic? Call France.

In the future, together with Congress, I will work to redirect this

money toward solving the vexing social problems we still have at home.

On that note, a word to terrorist organizations. Screw with us and we

will hunt you down and eliminate you and all your friends from the face

of the earth. Thirsting for a gutsy country to terrorize? Try France, or

maybe China.

To Israel and the Palestinian Authority. Yo, boys. Work out a peace deal

now. Just note that Camp David is closed. Maybe all of you can go to

Russia for negotiations. They have some great palaces there. Big tables,

too. I am ordering the immediate severing of diplomatic relations with

France, Germany, and Russia. Thanks for all your help, comrades. We are

retiring from NATO as well. Bon chance, mes amis.

I have instructed the Mayor of New York City to begin towing the many

UN diplomatic vehicles located in Manhattan with more than two unpaid

parking tickets to sites where those vehicles will be stripped, shredded

and crushed. I don't care about whatever treaty pertains to this. You

creeps have tens of thousands of unpaid tickets. Pay those tickets

tomorrow or watch your precious Benzes, Beamers, and limos be turned

over to some of the finest chop shops in the world. I love New York.

A special note to our neighbors. Canada is on List 2. Since we are

likely to be seeing a lot more of each other, you folks might want to

try not pissing us off for a change. Mexico is also on List 2. President

Fox and his entire corrupt government really need an attitude

adjustment. I will have a couple extra tank and infantry divisions

sitting around. Guess where I am going to put em? Yep, border security.

So start doing something with your oil.

Oh, by the way, the United States is abrogating the NAFTA treaty ---

starting now.

We are tired of the one-way highway.

It is time for America to focus on its own welfare and its own citizens.

Some will accuse us of isolationism. I answer them be saying, "darn

tootin."

Nearly a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around the

world has only earned us the undying enmity of just about everyone on

the planet. It is time to eliminate hunger in America. It is time to

eliminate homelessness in America. It is time to eliminate World Cup

Soccer from America.

To the nations on List 1, a final thought. Thanks guys. We owe you and

we won't forget. To the nations on List 2, a final thought. Drop dead.

God bless America.

Thank you and good night.

If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in

English, thank a soldier."

In theory this isolationist stuff is great (right up my alley actually), but I don't know how well it would turn out in practice.

I have to think that it is too dangerous to ignore festering terrorist groups around the world, especially now that North Korea has nukes and missiles capable of delivering them to the US. Securing the borders is fine, but we better get Bush's missile defense thing working and in place before we just seal up the borders and turn a blind eye to the rest of the world.

The other big problem would be the economic ramifications of isolationism, although I think America is particularly well equipped to make an isolationist stand against the rest of the world. We certainly have better resources at our disposal than most other countries. Better get working on those hydrogen fuel cell cars...

I think if we went 1/2 way towards isolationism from the current "get into everyones' business" policy that would be a good thing. Certainly getting our troops out of places where they aren't even appreciated, like Germany, would be a good thing. But as much as I hate to say it, I think totally disengaging from the rest of the world would be a huge mistake. Just trying to be somewhat realistic.

Actually JM, I completely agree,

But I can also certainly understand the "vented frustration" from the author unknown of my last post which I recieved as another 'forward email"

It would be nice to strike a more even balance in our foreign vs. domestic standings.

I agree Mike, in fact close all the borders, stop sending aid to all other countries for 1 year and lets see where the world ends up. They will be begging for us to come back. The world would look like road warriors and the US will be the fort eveyone trys to get into. Just once we should stop trying to put out fires around the world that have been raging for decades.

Take the money that is saved and make our lives better and ewveryone will be happy (not). Tap oil from Alaska and end the pipeline to the Middle east and the outside world can kill each other. We wait till the world is half it's size and then we start all over again. But no matter what we do, I'm keeping my Z.

Basically' date=' things like prayer in school, the 10 commandments in a court house are in violation of the seperation of church and state. As little as they are, it is still something that should not be tolerated. Give an inch and they will take a mile.[/quote']

A few problems with that is that this country was founded on Christian principles and that most of the founding fathers had that religion. There is no place in the Constitution or Declaration of Independance where "the separation of church & state" is listed. That statement came later from another document, but everyone seems to think it was part of our Constitution. I figure that since it's worked in our country for a couple centuries, no need to make a big stick about it for the minority of people who have nothing better to do that bitch about it. The minority can just refuse to participate, but it's those liberals that want to change the majority for the views of the minority. Go figure. Just my 2.035 cents.

Gary, The irony in it all Huh? Imagine... Our country was founded on a solid christian belief... In god we trust... How funny it is (Sad actually) that we can't even have our nations cornerstone prayer taught in OUR schools. We are Americans... Last I checked, If I were living in ANOTHER country, I'd be living by THEIR rules, and not dictating my own... Not for long anyway.

Complete isolation would completely destroy this nation. I cannot believe some of you actually believe that would be a good idea. By working together with other nations we are able to do so much. If you stop trading with other nations it would be impossible to do anything. take a basic economics class at any college and they will tell you that.

The USA was the first country in the world to base their society around idealistic views. Why cant we be a flagship to the rest of the world that working together is the only way to be succesful. By going over and killing Iraqis, we are not sending a very helpful mesage to the rest of the islamic part of the world. The only way there can be no terroist attacks is if we work together and build a good relationship with these parts of the world. By trying to kill them all is so incredibly counter-productive, and it is such an ignorant way of living life. How can this logic make sence to you guys? if you kill them everyone they knew will clearly forgive and love you afterwards?

I'm not saying the islamic way of living is good. in fact i think it is incredibly counter-productive. I think the way they suppress their women is so stupid, to completely remove half your population from the work place is so ignorant. If those countries really want to do better economically in the world they will have to change that part of their religion or else they will constantly fail while other, more mature, religions like those in 1st world countries will prevail.

Come on guys, look at hybrid Z for instance, if we were all countries how would anything be solved if lets say we all decided that we were tired of each other and never talked or shared information? That is why HybridZ works, we are helpful, i sure as hell would have no problem giving an iraqi information about Z cars. How would HybridZ gain is one of our most helpful members decided to just leave, like grumpyvette/tim240Z? They would also lose our imput which would be devistating.

WORKING TOGETHER IS THE ONLY WAY!!!

My .02 cents.

Read my post again, it was meant to have some humor in it.

But on a more serious note. The US will never be liked by any Middle Eastern country as long as we defend Isreal. That is the main reason we are hated in that region. Anything else is icing on the cake for those countries. I'm not saying that we should stop supporting them because if we did, Isreal would be destroyed within months. So what we do as a country in that region either good or bad will never put us on their good side as long as the policies stay the same. And you can bet that no matter who is president, that policy will never change.

Peace in the Middle East is nothing more than a catch phrase created for marketing. Our government believed it could be acheived 30+ years ago and the only changes since that time has been the five different administrations. Like I said, how long are we going to keep trying to put out fires around the world that have been raging for decades and that we know are almost impossible to put out. The answer is easy. Look at our history and you can see that we will always carry a bucket of water where ever we go.

This is just one part of many problems that will bever be solved. Like everyone before us, we'll just have to learn to live with it. And guess what, we do.

Uh, I disagree. Strongly.

Ever dealt with the UN directly? Ever have them lie to your face, while in a hostile region? Ever have them be your sole source for extraction, only to be left to your own devices to get out of said hostile region? Ever have them be your only source for food, water, and communications only to have them basically abandon you?

Hmmm... Uh NO. SCREW THE UN, and SCREW the rest of the world.

I could go on for HOURS about how the UN has basically cried the blues to the United states to "DO SOMETHING" in every fleabag infested region in the world, while they (The UN) sit by idle, directionless. Haiti, Uganda, Rwanda, Mogadishu, Bosnia, ALL of the middle east, Chechenya.

Personally I don't put much faith in the "League of Nations", since they DO nothing but critisize and are filled with corruption. Their handling of the IRAQ war and the subsiquent exposure of France, Germany, and the Soviet Union, and to a lesser part, our wonderful friends in Canada, ALL had reason NOT to have the US invade Iraq and get Saddam out of power... $$$$$$$$$ Valuable contracts to rebuild the Iraqi infrastructure were at stake.... No wonder they were SOOOOO opposed to a dictator who would torture, GAS, and mass execute his own people, while threatening the rest of the world, thumbing his nose at...... ALL those UN resolutions he signed to keep the United States from rolling through Bahgdad the first time around.

But we are the bad guys...

No, I am 100% sure that if we closed borders, and were more self reliant for one year, that it would do a few things... Our wonderful friends in Israil would either destroy their enemies, or be destroyed themselves... That situation would correct itself. We would no longer be involved, therefore we wouldn't be a target any longer to the people who use Islam in such a horrid way to justify their attacks. The rest of the nations could get up every morning, and look at themselves being indecisive, while their neighbores starve to death from famine and drought... And we could FIX OUR OWN back yards...

We're not appreciated by and large ANYWAY, and Blame it on Bush, but this has been going on for decades... When Demacrats and Republicans alike pull their collective heads out of their asses and realize that this situation is what it is through the actions of others, we will be a much stronger, much better nation... Until then, we're still doing little more than peeing on the constitution, and the vision our forefathers had planned for this great nation.

Yea, I'm all for sealing up the boarders... I'm just not feeling to generous right now...

No kidding. I'm tired of all the self-flaggelation. That's why I keep going back to the Iraq thing. How can we continue with a war when many Americans perceive Iraq to be a loss??? What would happen to our country if we were actually attacked - like really militarily attacked? I swear you'd have a bunch of idiots running in front of the machine guns convinced that they somehow deserved to be shot for being Americans. And you'd have a second larger contingent of people that don't want to make the invaders mad. WTF?!? Good thing you'd have the 140 million gun owners...
