zguy95135
I was talking to him and the car is completley made from scratch. The body in the pictures is only the buck and isnt a velo rosso kit. Dan Juday's car was amazing, glad he drove it. It was cool to meet some more local members, too bad there werent more Z's though Whos the sexy guy with the camcorder? http://www.datsunracing.com/gallery/kitcar2004/PICT0201?full=1 BTW Alex really knows how to make an entrance

Wagz
Any idea where that kit comes from... who makes it... I wish there were A LOT MORE pictures! I am fairly certain the car in Alex's pics is the feature car from Kit Car Magazine's "Last Chance Garage" feature. It's a series of articles written by the builder that chronicles the entire build process. If it is the same car, the body is actually from Thunder Ranch and it was custom widened by 6"-12" just for this car. The builder/author created a custom jig and built the entire tube frame to accept all Corvette C5 components. It's going to be a very sweet ride. The car has the suspension from a C5, so that's why it is sooo wide. I think the GTO is closer to a Z in dimensions. Still, I loved the guy's tube chassis--awesome welding and everything. However, the 19" CCWs with no real negative offset just don't look right to me, and I think it smells of "kit car." That may be a brutal way of putting it, but it just does not look right to me. Dan Juday
I spoke with the GTO/Corvette guy last year, or the year before. The body is a kit for the Z that he widened. It may very well be the Thunder Ranch kit, I don't remember. It is not a Vello Rosa kit for sure. The section ahead of the windshield is the least changed. He has a personal friend with an original 250 GTO that he has taken measurements off. He has done extensive work on the rear to better match the Ferreri. Width, of coarse, is way off. But profile is closer to the Ferreri than the kits for the Z. I didn't look at the car this year, little changes from year to year, it's a llllllooooonnnngggg term project for this guy. I remember looking at the tube frame last year thinking he has made no provision for exhaust at all. He may have modified the frame, like I said I didn't look this year. If not he's going to be stuck with sidepipes or an over the roof job! Anybody see if he had the exhaust on yet?
