Tim240z
Just now picked it up from the bodyshop.....all I asked was for them to throw on some new paint so that it didn't look like a JY mobile....they did a fantastic job!!!! Corvette blue (there just happened to be a Vette in the shop at the same time, so they "overmixed" the amount of paint). I bought 2 of these cars about 6 months ago for $1100, and traded one of them for the paint and bodywork....great deal: paint and body (incl. patching rust and fixing wavy bodylines) for $550!! Tim240z
Now on to the mechanicals. It runs, but has been sitting for years. My plans are to transplant the engine with a 2L 12valve turbo 4Cyl from a Mazda 626 with a Mazda pickup 5 speed....haven't decided on the rear yet. jonzer12
Your 626 mazda engine, are you refering to a F2T? If so visit http://www.mx6.com. Plenty of f2t info there. I had a 2generation mx-6 a for quite a few years and I helped do some buildups on a couple 1st gen mx-6 with F2T's. Parts are hard to find but they are stout little motors. Michael
At times like this I console myself by reiterating my usual saying: "I'm proud to belong to the half that makes the top half possible". Tim - back when I lived in LA (late 1990's), I saw Opel GT's in similar condition in the Recycler for around $5K.
Z-Dreamer
Yes Tim, the Opel is nice, but I'm looking for a 67 thru 72 Chevy/GMC long bed pickup for my business. Anyone know where I can get one that's in great shape? Oh I hate you also!!! Mark
Tim240z
Mark, Keep an eye out on the chevy truck board and ebay, there are usually several around. I bought my truck seven years ago when I first arrived in the States. I actually wanted a shortbed step side, but needed a vehicle in a rush......I could never be without a truck.....I rebuilt the engine with Vortec heads and cam etc, now I am going to upgrade to a 200 4R also. I need to give her a repaint too.....I love this truck...it's so easy to drive, and runs so well. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/index.php3? If I found a buyer for mine and found a decent shorty step side, I would sell....
