Doug71zt
Same cam as I got from Isky last year. I didn't speak up because it is still in the wrapper, waiting for me to finish the head, so I don't know how it will work. I have great faith though. I think that the cam was the cheapest thing in the head. Cheers Doug

Tony D
yeah, I don't know if I know that one... What is the story on "port matching"...
S30TRBO
So what's the story, Joe? I asked Ron his opinion on port matching and he said I have a story for that. Ron said back in the 80's Champion Spark Plugs had a small block on the dyno. They ran it stock and recorded the numbers. Ron said they elongated the holes on the intake a 16th of an inch on either side of center. After the first run they loosened the intake bolts and moved it to the left a 16th ran again and moved it to the right the other 16th. He said that there was no difference in the dyno readings. So his final thought was port matching is a waste of time, concentrate your time somewhere else. My questions are: ~Does this apply only to V-8? ~Have gains been recorded on port matching a Z head? ~I know V-8s have huge valves compared to any Z head so would this apply only to V-8s? 1 fast z
I also agree that port matching for the most part is a waste of time, you could concentrate on the port work that much more, and make MUCH more improovement. At least that is what my flow bench tells me.
