nazar Posted February 25, 2006 Share Posted February 25, 2006 I keep hearing some people actually saying this is alot of money, when I saw the whole kit was $750, I made the call and ordered them Most 4 piston, 2 piece big brake kits this thick and complete for other cars wiill run you around $1400-1500, for the money, this kit is awesome and I love how its 1.25" thick, that is what helps with heat disipation, and the big 4 piston willwoods are awesome This should also reduce my unsprung weight up front, im sure this setup weighs less then stock, I wonder how much less? cant wait, should fill up my new 17x9.5" really well:mrgreen: Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

nazar Posted February 25, 2006 Author Share Posted February 25, 2006 now that im broke, nothin, lol, stock drums till i get enough money, then just a basic oe disk swap, rear brakes I never worry much about, i bias it all to the front, lol...Hopefully those 255's up front will give enough traction to keep those brakes from locking up left and right I think they wiill work out very well and look sweet. They are 12.2 and you usually want to add about 3" to your brake size to figure out wheel size. meaning 16's will fit. for that kit however, you need 260/280 front hubs, which I ordered through all Z speacialists in texas, along with 280 rear stub axles Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

My car, as you can see in my sig, doesn't have front struts on it so should I just look for 260/280 struts or do I still need the 240 struts? HB280ZT Posted February 25, 2006 Share Posted February 25, 2006 Hi All, Well I put these brakes on my 77 about 6 months ago and they are great. I even managed to use my 15" snowflake rims. I just had to use a 1/2 spacer to clear the calipers, but I want just a bit more clearance so I will have to add some thin aluminum shims say 1 mm more. You also need to grind down the end of the lower control arm so that they do not rub under cornering. I went all the way down to the ring on the inside of the LCA. If you turn the LCA over and look at the lower ball joint area you will see the inner supporting metal. Also I removed enough of the lip so that when I turned my wheel the rotor will not rub around the sides. I wish I could post some pictures but for some reason I can not post them. With that approach, your mods will INCREASE your braking distances significantly. Even under 1-g braking, there's still on the order of 30% of a Z-car's weight on the rear tires. nope Posted February 26, 2006 Share Posted February 26, 2006 theyre the 5zigen fn01r-c wheels. 17x10 (285/40-17) rear and 17x9 (255/45-17) in front. The 10inch wide ones are cool because theyre the only ones with the spokes that are kinda gnarled, like a 5-legged crouched spider. delicate powder coat though, but i think thats true for all black wheels.. especially the matte finish ones. pic haha u can see my oscar the grouch costume in the back. I tried all kinds of assembly, filing, and re-assembly but the only way to get them straight was to cut them. Yes they were brand new and warped. JMortensen Posted February 27, 2006 Share Posted February 27, 2006 I checked on that a while back cygnusx1, and found that Wilwood recommends that you shim between the rotor and the hat to fix a warped rotor. You would need to ramp the shim thickness up and down as you go around the bolt pattern or you might stress the tabs when you tighten the bolts.
