mull
Why use a Jun balanced crank instead of balancing the stock crank - since some people run it along 1 200 hp? Just being envious (and curious) - very sweet engine indeed : )

stony
I bought the engine in its current config. dont plan on changing anything till something breaks.
mull
Maybe the thought of having a brand new one from JUN is a lot nicer than balancing a 15 year old piece of fatigued metal? I'd imagine Stonys engine to be out of a R34 (since its a red top), thus not being 15 years old (that is, without the use of time travel) I am by no means a skyline know-it-all, but all the red top RB's I've seen have been housed in a R34. Also, the valve cover with the GT-R print is yet to be seen on a stock R32/33 GTR-engine. Not trying to step on anyones toes here. I was just asking. Thanks for the reply Stony. Now try not to break it

cheftrd
It's not an R34 motor/crank. By JUN balanced, he means that it was balanced by JUN. An R32 crank will handle as much power as an R34 crank. The oil pump drive is the difference. The stock crank will not support the rpm's to make 1200hp and live. It is not fully counter weighted and not stiff enough. The flex at 12,000 rpm is unreal and it will wipe out bearings in very short order. Accelerating a roller on a dyno and accelerating a 3000lb car put completely different loads on the crank.
