I have A new Digital HDD sony video camera. I can burn it directly to DVD fine. But I want to edit and convert it to smaller WMV;s or MPG's. I tried using a program called showbiz and I get errors as well as trying to use the windows movie maker. I copied the high quality video clips to my PC and then import them into window movie maker. I get an error then and I cannot edit it or anything. Anyone out there using anything else for editing.. thats either free or cheap? Or have any clues on how I can use it with windows movie maker?

Thanks

Gabe

I haven't used Adobe Premier since version 6 or so, but I never really liked it. Last time I tried Windows Movie Maker it was just a big turd and couldn't even do full resolution. This was around 2002 or 2003 though, and I have heard Adobe Premier is a lot better.

The best [cheap] movie editing software I have used it iMovie, but that requires a Mac. If you are a student you can land a cheaper version of Avid Media Composer (what the pro's use) called "Avid Xpress Pro" for about $300.

From personal experience, Final Cut Pro and Avid Media Composer are the best around. Unfortunately, the former is $1300 and requires a Mac, the latter is $5000.

You can try Adobe Premier 3.0. That is what I use. I just got it. 100 bucks ain't bad.

I'm still learning, but from an amature point of view, I am very pleased so far. I hope to learn a few more tricks, to make my vids even better.

Good luck.

Scott.
