streeteg Posted April 16, 2007 Share Posted April 16, 2007 Have a swapped 260z with an RB 25det/RB20 trans--- Has a custom dash--- so the stock speedo is not there. Have an autometer and am confused on what I need to make it work--- All there is --- is one connection....so my question is what wire do I need? Nevermind i guess not,,,, cant think of any good key words to search.......Cant remember, does the rb20 tranny have the electronic or mechanical speed sensor? if its electronic the autometer web sight has a install guide you can download. its pretty striaght forward. fentin_fury Posted April 17, 2007 Share Posted April 17, 2007 what type of autometer - mechanical or electrical. both will work with the nissan trans - you can bolt in a 300z mech drive into the rb25/sr20 trannies. The stock Z speedo cable hooks right up to it....You may need a differtnt color gear but that shouldnt be a problem..... Anyone have product codes for the RB speedo gears. I do not have a stock Z speedo cable---any part that is interchangeable? color of gear is based on your final drive ratio - based on your tire size and and rearend ratio you can pick the appropriate color to get the best estimate of your speed on the speedo. Per Datsun Garage YELLOW is the 16 tooth for the 3.36 BLACK is the 17 tooth for the 3.54 BLUE is the 18 tooth for the 3.70 WHITE is the 19 tooth for the 3.90 RED is the 20 tooth for the 4.11 PURPLE is the 21 tooth for the 4.38 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
