CalifaThugz
OK I have been searching through hybrid Z for 2 days with like 3 hours of reading and I cant find any coilovers that just bolt on like they have for the 240sx and such, with the coilovers they sell you need to weld and stuff and I don't have a welder or know anyone who does. Is there a site where I can get some that just bolt on instead of having to do some work on. I don't want lowering springs. Thanks! CalifaThugz
Is it possible to just put the coilovers on without having to weld something?

oinojo
Beta Motorsports have complete struts and assembly available but i dont think theyre what your looking for price wise when comparing other coilover systems for more modern cars. http://www.betamotorsports.com/
evildky
Is it possible to just put the coilovers on without having to weld something? yup, I believe arizona z car and bata both sell strut housings already modified, you won't have to weld them becasue someone else already did
stony
AZC used to have coil over kit that you cut the perch off, then slid a threaded collar over housing and assembled the rest of the parts and off you went. My struts have been sectioned but you can use stock length inserts so you dont have to section. here is what is left of my struts. The springs, perch, and top mount are the AZC kit that i purchased. I think You have to use there camber plates with this setup which will require cutting and welding :<
frank280zx
Eehm Nope is not really the correct answer , there is an ebay brand called 'COSMO RACING' http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Racing-Coil-over-Coilover-DATSUN-280Z-75-78-Springs-NEW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33586QQihZ013QQitemZ230116629341QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW The springs and hardware are not the best quality. For my rear set up i used an ebay set up ( the hardware) but the fronts are the real deal. mainly due to the way i needed to mount them. They needed some tweaking to be made to fit right. Anyhow here is a write up he praises them… http://www.zcar.com/forums/read.php?f=1&i=677057&t=677053#reply_677057 and another review http://www.zcar.com/forums/read.php?f=1&i=667873&t=667771#reply_667873 As long you dont expect to much you will be ok at that prize it is great, you can always go for diffrent springrates later This will initially cost you USD 169.60 so for the tight budget.. Thanh
Datsun Spirit has slide on coil overs that require no welding, but they look exactly like those cosmo coilovers. Check with www.datsunspirit.com
CalifaThugz
Wow stupid question but if I buy the coilovers think a shop will do all the welding and stuff if so about how much do you think they would charge? Or do I have to take the car to a person that specializes on Z cars?
CalifaThugz
Probably another stupid question but I'm really new to shopping online but is the arizonazcar.com a good place to buy from? I'm realling interested on the front and rear wilwood brake set and lowering springs maybe instead of the coilovers. Here's what I am looking foward to buying if you guys have had good experience with this site. http://arizonazcar.com/springs.html http://arizonazcar.com/brake.html
wheelman
Arizonazcar is a good company. They're products are top quality and they offer good customer service. As to your other question about taking your car to a shop to have the coilovers installed, yeah thats something you can do but it's impossible to guess what they're going to charge. If you're serious visit a couple shops in your area with good reputations and get an estimate. Wheelman
CalifaThugz
I'm sorry but my bro got me confused it is a pair only one wheel for the front for the brakes or both wheels? I was also looking through the 240sx brake system things and it says 1395 for both front sides and I'm confused because I don't really want to get 795 and only get one side. rustorbust
a pair means both fronts or both rear. Competition Front Brake Kit (4-lug) $789/pair this would do both fronts Competition Rear Brake Kit (4-LUG) $795/pair this would do both rears
CalifaThugz
Oh, thanks! I plan on getting some in the next month or so when I get enough money on selling my dirtbike, and maybe get the lowering springs. If I do get them soon I'll show what I did to my Z. CalifaThugz
Hey when I was reading what it said about the springs it wont lower the 240z any more than it already is? Is anybody using those springs in a 280z if so can you post atleast one picture to see of how low it will get? I really want to go for a dropped look. stony
Here are some pics of mine with AZC coilovers and the inserts. I still have about 5 inches of travel with the car sitting this low. I WILL have to install bump stops to prevent bottoming the chassis. I also need a set of bumpsteer spacers too
CalifaThugz
Wow and you can still go lower than that too huh? I want to get those if I get the coilovers that already come welded all I do is remove stock suspension and put those?
stony
HMMMMMM.... not sure what you just said BUT>>>>> Those are modified stock struts. you cant just go buy those and put them in. You have to get a coilover kit, camber plates, shorter strut inserts. Then you have to install the weld in camber plates, modify the struts to accept the coilover kit, then section( cut and make shorter) the strut housings and install the inserts. then you are ready to install. johnc
Thugz, Read this: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=103860 And then read this: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=116670 The complete strut kits I sell work very well on the 240Z. Lots of SCCA, VARA, HSR, and NASA races have been won using my setups. They are comparable to the Tein, JIC, and other JDM setups sold for other cars except for the shock valving. Here in California and generally on the west coast we need softer compression damping because of the bumpy tracks. I have yet to see a JDM shock that works better on a California race track then a Koni or a Bilstien. The JDM stuff works fine for a street car but they aren't winning many sanctioned wheel-to-wheel races.
