OvErMiNd
What about the DIY paint with rollers? I've got some rust issues that need to be taken care of, but the cost is immense. I've been looking into a DIY type deal as far as chemicals go.
big-phil
you'll have to do a search, there are some who rolled it on.

jknc90
heres mine with first coat so far Maybe a stupid question, if so, sorry lol. But if you're going to go through the trouble of taking the fender and all trim off, why no remove the headlight too? Jon
Datsun350Z
It's not a Z, but we spraypainted this one last year for the big apple to big easy rally. A decent amount of prep work, and you can make it look halfway decent. For $50 it's better than nothing. Expect to re-do it yearly though. Datsun350Z
I'd use POR-15 for rust... Not exactly cheap, but not a bad deal for what it does. I just got their gas tank restoration kit yesterday.
Metallicar
That's a riot! I have one of those in the back yard! It's going Satin Black Rustoleum and I am going to put fender mirrors on it too. I am thinking of putting diamond plate aluminum where the wood grain is. A great car for driving to the junk yard
MonkeyKnifeFighter
I am thinking of putting diamond plate aluminum where the wood grain is. If you did that and changed your name to Joe Kickass I would contribute $50,000 to your campaign fund should you ever run for public office. Just sayin. supraspaz
Expect to re-do it yearly though. Just curious , why do you say it will need to be redone yearly? fade? chipping? I am still debating whether or not to go the Rustoleum route.
Datsun350Z
I wouldn't expect much fade protection, or any kind of rock chip resistance. We drove it from NY to new orleans and back for the rally and it still looked perfect though. Seriously though... $50 Who cares. I'd like to change my car color every month, nevermind year. Datsun350Z
Yeah, I wanted to do a hood scoop and a bunch of ricer bodywork to make it look off the wall ridiculous, but the whole rally was kind of last minute already as far as our organization, so it didn't happen. I like the idea of the black with diamond plate, but it will really kill the awesome power to weight ratio though, don't you think? Lmao. Try tin foil instead.
