Floorless240z
I didn't think this belonged in the classifieds as I'm just trying to ascertain an asking amount for my z (it's actually my dads). He has a '72 240z, 45k original miles. Originally lime green; now sitting in primer. A few small spots of surface rust from sitting in primer for 3 years, but no major rust issues by any means uncracked dash everything is there and original. car runs and drives fine all the glass is there floor pans, frame rails, battery tray, hatch area, etc all clean (no rust) the interior is mostly there and in ok shape. I'm sure we could piece together a whole interior (we have 5 240z's and 2 additional parts cars between my dad, uncle and I) My dad has 3 Z cars himself. He was in the process of restoring this one when he picked up a shell and a 2.8 motor from a guy down the street (small world) which is what he's been focusing his efforts on. He was keeping this car for his dad, however his dad's health prevents him from likely ever being able to drive again, hence the sale. What should we ask? I was thinking ~$4k? I'll have pics up in a few days, just looking for general ideas

CArFAn
If the dash is crack free people will kill for it.
SkunkTeeth
Is that a dash cap?
janaka
IMO $4k seems high for a car missing a lot of pieces needing a lot of work still.. looks like some interior is still missing and whats there is worn (shifter caught my eye, but it could just be dirty)... There's a ton of work still to be done I'm no Z specialist though, so take that for what its worth.
Challenger
If I was gonna buy it Id pay around ~$1500. You have to remember Z's arent worth alot. I can see you making more by parting it out.
Doc Hawk
Down here in Southern California, that would be about a $2000 car - $1500 really, but that dash alone would convince someone to pay $2K. If you could wait a year for the perfect buyer to come along, you might get $2500. You'd have to perform a lot of work to get that car into the $4000 range, and paint would be high on the list. The engine bay looks like it needs a lot of refreshing, too, judging by the hoses. I don't see many Z's sell in the $5K range. It's more like either project cars for $1K-$3K, or restored original classics for over $15K-ish. YMMV...
Pop N Wood
In your area and rust free, at least 1 to 2 thousand more than a So Cal car.
rudypoochris
Does it run? Are the rails unbent? Does it drive perfectly? Those few things will make a large difference, especially the rails. If you really do have unbent completely rust free rails that is a pretty big plus, despite the fact that it is a relatively cheap fix, it isn't necessarily the easiest. Doc Hawk
In your area and rust free, at least 1 to 2 thousand more than a So Cal car. Pop is right on... very low rust cars can be had out here for under $1000, and they come up with pretty regular frequency. Up in the Northeast (or anywhere else, really), I understand that is not the case, and so the value out there would be higher.
