OlderThanMe
I saw a show about "Okie Noodling" on "Georgia Public Broadcasting" the other night. Most people have never heard of it before... Check it out. I'd like to try it sometime... BTW its not legal in all states. LOL

johnc
I would be scared to noodle in waters that have fish that would see me as bait. Imaging sticking your hand in the mouth of any of the three fish above and having it clamp down.

If you look around other noodling vids guys come out bleeding! I think the biggest fresh-water fish cought in the US was about 140 pounds... bschiltz
Yeah, there was a show about noodling on Nebraska public television before too. My grandpa is from Unadilla, GA and he's told me stories about noodling from when he was a kid. The biggest thing you have to watch out for is water moccasin's that are hiding in a hole. I have seen water moccasins here in GA while walking in a shallow/wide creek before (playing paintball, NOBODY ever looks in the creek). I'd never go noodling it in the southeast for that reason! And in Unadilla, I'd expect there to be Noodling... LOL
phil280zxt
Mike Rowe did a piece on noodling on Dirty Jobs last year....
G.I.jonas
I think the biggest fresh-water fish cought in the US was about 140 pounds... Not sure where you got that info, but i could go out next month and (illegally) catch a sturgeon over that easy in a river near me. Nor do i understand that article saying "largest freshwater fish". Sturgeon have ben netted weighing at 1500 pounds, granted some species are anadramous but not all. Here is a good one but not even close to the biggest. 468 lbs
OlderThanMe
Maybe I was just reading of hand-cought fish... Don't really remember..
Challenger
Wow, catching a catfish that weighs as much as you... I remember the Dirty Jobs that showed this. Pretty funny. On the topic of very large animals, anyone ever see the 1500 lb hog a kid shot with a pistol?
OlderThanMe
Hogzilla? Killed in southern Ga...(these huge hogs are running rampant in southern Ga) Then the one shot by the kid...

G.I.jonas
I thought there was an investigation on both of those, one was a hoax and the other was an escaped domestic that was over fed lol?
BillZ260
noodling could be cool but the stories of finding one that has a hook in his mouth doesn't sound so cool.
Challenger
I believe Hogzilla was a overfed domestic hog that was released. Still, 1500 some lbs. Bill you get my PM?
buZy
Noodling. Now that is real fishing! Man versus beast.
