CArFAn
I found a air dam at pick n pull which i bought and put on my car. I am sanding it down but the person who painted it seemed to use house paint and its really thick. I'm killing sand paper trying to get through it. So is there anything that i can use to strip the paint without eating up the urethane/fiberglass? I'm making a trip to kragen to buy a can of "tal strip mar-hyde" so finish the body. Would they carry anything that would work?
Challenger
I believe most "aircraft" strippers are safe to use on fg and urethane. I used the "aircraft" stripper and it worked great.
MJLamberson
how about a wire wheel if you gentle it shouldnt damage anything but the paint
CArFAn
i did a little test patch on the back of it and it made it all soggy like. On the can i already had it says not recommended for use on fiberglass.
Challenger
Ahhhh. Then dont use it. Wire wheel was really good for me. Takes off the paint, and leaves the metal. Just watch out for all the little wires shooting into skin and clothing.
CArFAn
No no. This is just the airdam. I can remove the paint from the metal body. Some one painted the airdam with house paint and i need to get it off with out eating the urethane/fiberglass away.
Dragonfly
They make a paint removal wheel that looks like a "greenie" scratch pad but it is black and goes into your drill motor. It is for removal of rust and paint and works well for removing paint from fiberglass as long as you don't overdo any one spot with it. I used one on my FG fenders without doing any damage. You can find them in just about any store that has both a paint and tool department. One last thing... get the thickest one you can find, it gives you more control and allows you to get around the tough curves. Challenger
Yeah it looks like a bunch of pieces of plastic glued together. Works good on softer parts, although it dissappear quick.

jerryb
Take it to a media blast shop and offer $25 cash. It will be cleaner than clean for far less effort and probably less money.

k14
It's a long shot, but worth a try.....go to the local carwash and try a high pressure water spray.
G.I.jonas
Well if you say that it is house paint,go to the hardware store and get some "brush cleaner" which is meant to strip old dried house paint from brushes-but should work on your bumper as well. Nismo280zEd
80 grit sandpaper and suck it up. lol that'll cut through real quick. Or rub with lacquer thinner, but that could take a while.
CArFAn
I got it down good enough with that wheel. I went over it with 60,120. Not everywhere just the real bad parts. Came out really good. Finally my car is almost 1 color.
