All that is soooo cool!...And expensive exotic $$$$...

So the big loaded question....

What is easily available on the current market, the best bang for the buck /quality vs user performance that will operate on a 1st gen sbc under 500hp AND will fit under a Z hood?

(have I gone too far this time?)

How many would you like to see? Linked from Kinsler's website (don't know about pricing, though)...

Kinsler is probably the best source for mechanical injection, and even EFI conversions of the mechanical injection manifolds, but I'm not sure any will fit easily under the hood of an S30. The closest option would be the above pictured "monster" design, where the stacks are short.

May have to look into a manifold more like the ones BRAAAP posted that the stacks are pointed sideways, infact I'm sure they would fit, since many of these are shorter than a conventional "low-rise" dual plane manifold, with carb and filter.

I would recommend an EFI conversion, as getting a full mechanical injection set-up to run well, under anything but WOT conditions is difficult, due to the course fuel metering, in comparsion to what an EFI system can do, or I hate to admit this, what even a carb is capable of.

GOOD stuff guys. Keep it coming…

For some of us, looking at this style induction akin to porn. We just can’t get enough. Then with stand off injectors and Carbon Fiber horns, OMG, I get the me the urge to shed my clothes and rub against the machinery…

Here is some more I uncovered. Exotic first…

Unknown, pretty sure it is a bike V-8, like the Hartley;

As Six Shooter already stated, the Cross-ram style would clear the hood of a Z car. With an air cleaner box? Dunno. Obviously would require carbs or programmable EFI.

Now we know the REAL reason you insist on tapering the ID of your intake runners.... "maintain air velocity" indeed!!!

Sick, Sick man.

On a different note, this photo:

definitely looks like the engine is older than I am, but I don't know my American Iron.

To make a semi-worthy contribution to the discussion, here are a couple photos of an unidentified (I'm guessing SBC) V-8 ITB manifold that I had in a box in the back of my Zcar.. Whoever tells me what this goes to gets a cookie, with sprinkles on it if you can ID the funny thing with all the hoses on it, or that front cover; they were in the same box, so I snapped them in the picture so I had it on my PC for posterity's sake.

Daeron,

SBC, Kinsler, Hilborn or other manufacture of Mechanical injection. Front cover is for mounting the mechanical fuel pump. Aluminum block with the hoses is the fuel metering block/valve, connects to the throttle linkage.

I WANT that manifold with the butterflies and the airhorns. I don’t need the injectors or the fuel metering block of the front cover, just the manifold and air horns..

Hmmm. What do I have for trade… Hmmm. Custom cylinder head work… L-series cylinder heads.. Hmmm…
