I realize im not going as fast as you but mine felt solid as a rock at 147Mph. is it because your not running slicks?

I don't think so, I've run 162 stable as can be on street tyres with a little duck tail spolier.

Without the spoiler and with more power it was like ice at higher speeds, I was hitting 9300rpm in top gear just after 1/2 track it was wheelspinning that much and it was the first time I have ever had tyre shake through the finish line.

I'm sure as you get quicker you'll find you get the wobbles although it may not be started by wheelspin if you have slicks.

I am finding the same thing going on with my setup. I run on street tires and no wing. At the upper 140's, I had No problem. I have stepped the car up recently and the last time I was out, I was getting loose on the big end. Part of the problem I know might have been cool track temps, but a few weeks prior to that I noticed It felt a little unstable through the finish line at a different track with warmer temps. Both of those runs were a touch over 156 mph. I have had several runs at right around 151-152 and do not remember feeling any thing unstable. I came home after the last time and started trying to find out if there is some kind of common consensus as to what kind of speeds warrant a spoiler or wing. I am not real hip on putting a real wild a$$ wing on but if that's what it takes....I have a set of slicks for the car and I know that is an option but, I like running on the street tires. I drive to the track, and all I have to do is let some air out of the tires and go. That’s pretty nice as I am getting old and lazy. Rob, I will be anxiously awaiting your results. Seeing as how your season is just getting started.

I had some "shake" but i think all mine was vibration from out of balance tires???? still felt rock solid the only runs that felt funky were a couple right on the launch. including the one were i tapped the guard rail. I learned a valuable lesson that day. BIG WHEELIES ARE BAD!!!!!:cry2:

live and learn i guess right.

Keep the video coming rob i love watching your car.

Seems that 155-156 onwards is where the trouble starts with no wing.

If your only going 160-165 on street tyres my pick is that not alot of wing will be needed.

Ratsun516: I'll be making the wing fully adjustable and about 15inches wide (deep, whichever way you want to look at it, lol) it'll mount to the body only so the chute guys can still open the hatch and put the chute in the back.

If your interested, I could make 2 at the same time and do you a sharp deal on one for you?

The main wing mounting point is turning out to be quite a bit more involved than I first thought as its rounded in 2 directions to follow the 2 curves of the rear hatch edge.

Its probably best if we finish mine, test it, then if you like the look and results we can go from there.

I might be able to get some pix up in the next day or 2.

We've finished the wing and it'll be interesting to see how it goes, we are by no means "wing experts" and basicly we looked at alot of pictures and got some basic guidance from a couple of guys.

Hopefully we can get some grip and start to wind the power back in,

Very nice Rob. I bet that does some good. I noticed after looking at the pics I will have to extend my parachute mount out some if I install a wing similar to yours. Did you have to move yours out some? I have mine set up so it hugs the rear hatch pretty tight. It wont be all that big of a deal, it just attach's behind the flip down tag with one pin. I think I can just extend the tube.

Are you planning on making it out this weekend? If you do, Good luck man.

I am already JONES'N to let the button go. It's going to be in the high 50's to low 60's here this weekend and our track is closed! :cuss:

Its gonna be a long three months.

Nice looking piece there...

I am adding headlight covers and VG's to the roofline in an attempt to reduce high speed drag before I get back to the track. I am anxious to hear the results of your testing, as I may run into similar high speed issues, although the car has not gotten out of shape at high speed ... yet ...
