zbigtim
I just completed the porting of my intake for the 240sx 60mm TB. Thought I would share some pictures. I'm not sure where I found this web site, but it has a good write up on how to go about the porting. http://www.graytechsoftware.com/garage/tbs_inst_port.asp I used a rotary file Used the 240SX TB Gasket to mark the area Here I'm about half way Comparison of before and after I still need to work on the throttle linkage. Need to shorten and re-thread the throttle shaft. Thanks for looking... Tim.
skib
Thanks for sharing pics Im working on the same thing right now, that same site has a nice write up on putting your stock linkage on the the 60mm TB to. http://www.graytechsoftware.com/garage/tbs_linkage.asp
zbigtim
Yes, I was going to ask about the linkage, until I was putting together this post. I stumbled across the answer on that site. Tim.
skib
Its pretty easy once you know everything that needs to be done, this thread should be helpful to anyone whos not quite sure what has to be done to make it work yet.
zbigtim
Has anyone ever used something like this to replace those ugly, yellowed, plastic ball joints? 15734 - JEGS Carburetor Linkage Bushings and Swivels

S130Z
The glory of power tools. I wish I had a rotoy file when I did mine. I used a hand file and it took me about 4 hours to get it done.
TrumpetRhapsody
I haven't ported mine yet, just bolted on the sx throttle body. I think the harsh flow is causing a surge at low speed light throttle.
S130Z
All I have to say is mine whistles like a MOFO! Which I think sounds pretty bad ass. Any one else getting this effect?
Rustyfriend
I haven't ported mine yet, just bolted on the sx throttle body. I think the harsh flow is causing a surge at low speed light throttle. I believe I am having the same surge that you are having. While under a load at low speed you will get a really lopey idle or something like that? I have just thrown on the tb without porting. I am holding off on it until I do my motor swap with my other intake manifold.
TrumpetRhapsody
Mine actually causes the car to buck pretty bad until you give it a little more gas, let off completely, or press the clutch. But yes, light load low speed low throttle.
skib
seems to me that having the 60mm TB on a 50mm opening kind of defeats having a 60mm TB.
Rustyfriend
That is true, I just haven't had the time recently and even if there is a rough opening, I have still noticed increased throttle response. My stock 50mm was in pretty rough shape.
TrumpetRhapsody
Only reason I'm using the 60mm is b/c it had a TPS on it, and was easy to set up with a throttle cable. I didn't port it b/c I was in a hurry to get it running. Soon as I get a few free hours it's getting ripped off and ported.
Challenger
That is true, I just haven't had the time recently and even if there is a rough opening, I have still noticed increased throttle response. My stock 50mm was in pretty rough shape. Thats probably cause 1/4 throttle now is like 1/2 throttle before... not exactly those numbers but you get the point. Rustyfriend
Not just that, but the round plate inside of the opening would become stuck to the tb on occasion. The stocker was cursed.
cygnusx1
Extra points for the plywood TB spacer!
Warren
No need to rethread the linkage rod, or replace the yellowed ball swivel, other than looks. Use that rotary rasp to remove that corner protruding out into it's path on the manifold itself...it serves no purpose.
zbigtim
Extra points for the plywood TB spacer! Thanks cygnusx1, I can appreciate the jab! I think if I were to shorten and rethread the throttle shaft, the linkage would be in better mechanical alignment. And yes I want to replace the ball joints because of looks. bco6
Great pics! Does anyone know if I could run a 60mm TB in stock Turbo intake system, or do i need modifications? Also is it safe to have a stock 83 zxt motor run at 15 psi?
