Ivan280zt
Ok so I got all my stuff back from powdercoating turnaround time was exactly one week. Quality of the work is great and I will be taking my engine parts to the same guy for sure. All of these parts sandblasted and powdercoated set me back $360 now that is awesome deal in my opinion. Here is everything before blasting and coating talk about dirty! Here is hand full of pics of the parts when I got them back Now all I am waiting for are my five lug brakes from AZC and two of the Tokico struts that are coming directly from Tokico factory. Ivan280zt
While most of my parts are coming in I am spending my afther work hours working of the body. Here are some pictures of how that is coming along. 2jz pulled out and taken down to the short block for some cosmetic and mechanical improvements. Nasty engine bay but its time has finally come closing off all the holes and working on making her nice and smooth. Pretty much ready for undercoating and POR-15. There is also crap load of holes to be welded shut. Rear wheel wells looking pretty good. I might have about hour or two worth of cleaning up left in rear of the car. I wish that I took good picture of all the brackets that were aroud rear subframe because now you cant tell where they were anymore since I have spent two whole nights grinding them down for nice clean look. There is some more cleaning left out around back area but I just got sick and tired of it so I am taking small break from it LoL. Engine parts some are getting replaced and some are getting powdercoated. Edited May 25, 2011 by Ivan280zt

Ivan280zt
Today was one freaking HOT day in the shop! I think that I lost about 20lbs from sweating but its all good I got those lbs back by drinking few beers and eating 3 Wendys junior bacon cheesburgers lol. Most of the big holes got closed off today I think that I have maybe 3 more to go. My block off plates I had cut by waterjet while ago. I have to grind down all the small welds on firwall next. Getting there. No more clutch master cylinder. This crap is really getting old... btw did I mention that it was 110deg in the shop!!! garvice
Do you need to weld the seam around the blanking plates to seal them off are they that tight a fit that they don't need to be fully welded?
Ivan280zt
Do you need to weld the seam around the blanking plates to seal them off are they that tight a fit that they don't need to be fully welded? I measured holes down to .001" so there are no gaps but either way they will be welded from inside of the car and tack welds from outside will be ground down. Ivan280zt
More and more goodies have been coming in I think that there might be few more things to order down the road. Here are Tokico shocks for 280z Arp 2jz rod bolts and Titan 2jz cam gear bolts. Brand new OEM Toyota parts now I am pretty sure that I have every single bolt, nut, and stud for 2j. rsicard
All that work was very nicely done. Suggest painting or powder coating in some other color than depressing BLACK. Use gray or silver or something to brighten things up and provide contrast.

Use gray or silver or something to brighten things up and provide contrast. Engine bay is going to be gray (until full painjob) and whole underdoby is going to be painted gray. I know what you mean about black overpowering everything else but trust me I got a plan on how to keep it diverse.
Ivan280zt
I have been working on engine bay for the past two weeks few hours afther work here and there. I got all the holes closed off and rust spots cut out and fixed. Here are picturs of how engine bay looks now not much left but to sand it down before bondo work. Engine bay paint stripped down all the way. Few more hours of sanding and it will be ready for bondo/prier/paint.
