srbigbutt
I went to the car show here in Houston this weekend and was extremely impressed with the Hyundai Genesis Coupe! Its a 306HP RWD Coupe that looks a lot like a G37 that will probably sell for around $25k. Here is a cool pic of a nice black on black one that is a little fixed up. naviathan
$32,250 with the 3.8L and $37,250 with the 4.6L. The difference is 290HP versus 375HP respectively.

The Coupe will be either 2.0 Turbo or V6. No V8. Pricing hasn't been announced yet.

jerryb
Much better than the Hyundai Pony I once drove! Only in Canada!
srbigbutt
Its definately an improvement over my first car I ever owned. A 1991 Hyundai Excel.

I bet the price is over $35k for a Hyundai. Anyone wanna take that bet?
Vintage
I'll say that that looks badass, but my upbringing would NEVER let me own one. I would develop a sense of self-hate for driving a Hyundai.
capt_furious
...I'm betting the V8 will drop right into the coupe, though. Looks hot from that angle.
BobbyZ
I heard that the base model (2.0T) will be starting in the 20k range. If so that seems like a great price on what could be a great car. Cars don't need 300hp to be fun. I have been driving around a 318is it is no power house but it is a blast to drive. Many people in the z community have been saying that the market was clamoring for a small light RWD coupe with a 4 cylinder turbo motor in the 20k range. Seems like this car could definitely lose a few pounds though, weighs in at around 3500lbs. I think that this car kind of parallels the 240z introduction quite well. At the time of the 240z intro many people still only recognized Datsun as a cheap economy brand. Seems like this is almost an identical situation. Debadge that black one above and drive it around, no one will guess it is a Hyundai. I can easily see myself picking one of these up second hand in a couple of years. srbigbutt
I nearly bought a 350z a year ago, but the dealership sold my car that I ordered before I got there!! So I was pissed and eventually decided to get a 280z. Now the 370z looks pretty ugly, the G37 doesn't look as good as the G35 and its way to much. This looks like it would be a good alternative. Now I just have to convice the wife that I need another car!!
ZZZeee
Mmm... improvements vs. compromise of safety vs. performance? Yes. Overall difference of power:weight ratio? No. I expect to be killed if I make an a$$ of myself. If you really want safety go buy a Volvo and find a different forum.......
ShaggyZ
Funny it's parked in front of a GM Daewoo building.

jc052685
...I'm betting the V8 will drop right into the coupe, though. Looks hot from that angle. what for??? The 2.0 turbo is the evo x motor.
Almighty Wez
The Genesis is pretty sweet looking for a Hyundai. We might be getting one at the shop if my biz partner trades his EVOX in on one.
Tombarace14
The 4b11 is not the evo motor. Its more like the Ralliart 4b11 the specs are close but not the same. The gen coupe only gets a single scroll turbo along with less agressive tuning. If my car sells soon I'll be ordering a 2.0 track.
Almighty Wez
The 4B11t is the Evo motor. The Ralliart is the same engine just detuned, which is pretty much what the Genesis is too.
