FlatBlack
I am planning on painting my car this summer, after I get done with the turbo and have some free time. I have been looking at the Ford and BMW 'graphite,' and can't decide which one to go with. I don't want a silver car, or a really dark grey. Kind of like Mikelly's colour, but not quite. I really like how this car turned out, http://jalopnik.com/photogallery/modernzire/1004150870 but was hoping for a little more of a metallic silver undertone like this: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3013/2351429879_d972c247ee.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.autodetailed.com/blog/%3Fp%3D134&usg=__ENBCVwiDX3aBVB7UG-NeaAOflEA=&h=334&w=500&sz=130&hl=en&start=9&um=1&tbnid=mjpYYIbIZXcg5M:&tbnh=87&tbnw=130&prev=/images%3Fq%3DBMW%2Bgraphite%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den I can't really tell if it's the lighting or the paint that makes it look more metallic. I like this colour but once again it's a little dull for my taste, but that could once again be the lighting. http://www.bmw-e87.com/AW/040.jpg I don't really care about objectivity, throw out whatever opinion you have about either colour. Thanks!
Challenger
I have pretty much the same paint color as jay28's car, first car you posted. Its a really nice color. Its really dark at night, grey when its cloudy and really bright and metallic in the sun. Although from the sound of what you want you might be best to go with something with a bit more silver/graphite. Id look into the dark shadow grey color (fords) with a different base coat or a touch of other colors mixed in.
dsommer
The first one looks like it has a lot of blue in it. Giving it a cold steel look, I have alway liked that color. I can't really tell the BMW color with all the reflections on the paint.
FlatBlack
The first one looks like it has a lot of blue in it. Giving it a cold steel look, I have alway liked that color. I can't really tell the BMW color with all the reflections on the paint. Yeah the Bimmer is hard to tell from all the gloss, but I think the colour behind it looks nice. Challenger, I have seen pictures of your car and I think it looks great, but it is a little on the dark side for me. I am looking for the bright and shiny in the sun, dark at night colour. I also parked by a Honda today that looked just like this. Too many choices!! http://www.leasetrader.com/photos/actual110999/640x480/Honda-Accord-EX-Coupe.jpeg
rturbo 930
The color in the second link I think could look really good on a Z. It's a little light, but if it's how it looks in the pictures, I think it'll look great. However, if it's the same color as in the third pic, I agree it's a bit dull. Looks more like a grey there, than a graphite color. Now that you mention the Honda, I remember seeing a partly completed car in the classifieds once (right after I bought my car, of course) that was painted a fairly dark graphite color that looked GREAT. As I recall, I think it was a color off a Honda. I'll see if I can find it. I might have pictures of it saved somewhere, but definitely not on this computer, as this was probably in early 2007. I'm wondering if this is it, but I think it's the same as the one you posted. I remember it being quite a bit darker though...
attworth
Check out Ford Vapor. Another member here painted his car with it a while back. Looks sweet.
YellowFever
Check out Ford Vapor. Another member here painted his car with it a while back. Looks sweet. Here's my car in Ford Vapor... probably too silver for the OP.
attworth
I love it. It is a bit more silver than the OP was asking for though.
FlatBlack
R Turbo - yes, that is the colour I was looking at, its actually looking a little better than the Ford at this point. Im thinking I might have to mix in a little bit of silver mettalic. I'll probably play around with some mixtures before I decide. Here's my car in Ford Vapor... probably too silver for the OP. That is interesting you posted that, I was kind of wanting to put two matte black stripes down the middle like your car. I was thinking a little thinner though. Nice ride! Thanks again for the input guys, if you see any more graphites around that have a little bit of that silver shimmer post them up if you would. cockerstar
imo, flat black is the way to go while in the project phase and you're doing new things to your car, but once it comes time to bring the project to a close, a nicer paint job is a lot more desirable.
