jbk240z
Hey guys, Chec out this link I saw on ebay. It claims to be the one & only Factory produced V8 Z. What a bargain too, only $249,000.00!!!!!!!! I think I will call b.s. on this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks___1974-Datsun-260-ZX-Factory-V-8-Original-Rare-Motor_W0QQitemZ110356227284QQddnZCarsQ20Q26Q20TrucksQQddiZ2282QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item110356227284&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A10%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 Too much. rturbo 930
A factory original V8 260ZX... Good lord.
AK-Z
BS . I don't recall nissan ever making a V8 until 1975. its not even a ZX
eec564
Does the 260Z (late) have a metal tag riveted to the firewall like my 280ZX and 300ZX do? That would shed a whole bunch of light on what was in that car from the factory. From a quick search on HBZ, there's at least one, if not two other Zs with Nissan Y engines in them. One in CA (possible), another in Australia. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=99581
AK-Z
I just asked him for the VIN. guy doesn't even have any feedbacks. $249K is WAY too much for a car that was mass produced over 30 years ago. Wiki says that the Y44 came EFI, not carbed
jerryb
Its obviously real...he took this picture to prove it.
V8INtheZ
Anyone ever heard of this 260z with a Factory V8? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110356227284&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3ASS%3AUS%3A1123&viewitem=
trippintl0
Notice later in the post he says, "so any technical details of exactly HOW this particular engine ended up in my Datsun are lost. What I do know is that this is a one-of-a-kind car."
atomflatz
Never heard of one coming with a V8 from the factory but hot damn look at the price! Mind boggling.
V8INtheZ
Yeah, I noticed his little disclaimer there too. The engine doesnt really look like it was a factory job either.
dsommer
Yes it is, the price is what it is, the experts know about this car. The technical details are lost just bid damn't I know you've got an extra $249K laying around for a 260Z 2+2 ROTFLMAO!!!!:lmao: Shoot I'll offer my Scarab for sale how about $50K, sound reasonable? V8INtheZ
Well, I was saving my extra quarter mil' for a 280z 2+2 with a factory steam engine.
KenshinX
Out of all the ebay Z's that are posted some were to the extreme ugly and straight up BS. I think this one is on the Top 5 list. Notice he said the engine was not introduced in the US. Well it sure as heck wasn't offered on Japan either, Nissan's native land. Where was it offered then? In mars?
KenshinX
were those added trucker switches on the center console factory too? Whats up with the hood? It is a rare motor, but it definitely Isn't original it comes from the 65-73 president. Never introduced here in the states. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=113632 http://www.trademe.co.nz/nz/auction-167601355.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Y_engine
ShaggyZ
Looks very interesting but maybe worth about $15k if it is unique. If it was just engine swapped, then worth closer to $6k, in my uneducated opinion. Why doesn't the guy do some research and find out who the previous owners were? atomflatz
Ooh, I didn't even notice the hot rod style louvered hood, 100% factory installed I'm sure. That has pushed me over the edge, sold.
