  1. ohhh...I haven't found those yet...and the sizes look good too...now to track down a price...and specs...
  2. I searched half the morning....and damn those tires are almost worth gold...well...at least there weight in some exoctic metal.... but I did find some interesting tires that might work... for the fronts at least.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=001&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=110064290412&rd=1&rd=1 if some tire maker made some 305/40/15's...they would have at least one customer.... how much is a safe stretch on a 12" rim....?
  3. I'd give up on it for now if I was you...unless you have deep pockets. I got my A&P in 1999, worked at a vintage repairshop in FL for a few years, then jumped into building helicopters. A), your going to get a job offer somewhere far away. it will cost money to get it there, then set up a garage or hangar and tools. C) Once you get a job, you'll find fix-er-uppers all the time.... and then you'll have too many projects to do, and no money to do them...or no time to do them. PM me once you get your A&P.....
  4. and for the record.... I have a CRX that had Advan A008's, a Civic hatchback with Advan A048's, a Subaru Legacy riding on KDWS's, and tires on other wheels that I swap back and forth on diferent cars, so I am kind of a wheel and tire whore. If I had my old AE86, I still have a set of Advan A048's on some 13" rims and some enkei rims. Plus some Goodyear Eagles on some Milli Miglias for the Z. I also have been attached to Falken ST-215's and ST-615's...but they are only on 14" tires. I like the durability of the Dunlop GT qualifiers, but they get to slick to control after 3 runs drifting...but they have lasted 3 drift events nad are just now getting down to the wear marks with-out the blocks falling off. I love the Azenis series...but no sizes available for wide 15's. I guess i really want grip in the front, and predictability and long lasting in the rear...with enough contact patch to move the car, but not too much to where it won't break free for a slide, and stiff sidewalls to feel the breakaway and control it...and to make a little smoke.... hehe maybe thats a dream tire....
  5. I got the wheels, and for the last few weeks I've been struggling on what brand, size, and compound to get to match the rims. I still can't decide if I want full grip, grip in the front and slide in the back, or just normal driving tires.... I originally wanted just a set of show rims...in case I actually get the body of one of my Z's cleaned up enough to be show worthy...so then I would just get some normal BFG T/A's or Dunlop qualifiers and slap them on for a set around $450 with shipping... I was thinking if I went that route then I would get 225/50/15s for the front, and 255/50/15's for the rear...and go for the JDM stretched look. But I drift and autocross... so the grip factor sets in....I can get a pair of yoko AVS ES100's in the front, 225/50/15's, and the same Dunlop Qualifiers for the rears, in the same size listed above...255/50/15...or go with 275/50/15's for more contact patch...but this set up would be for sliding. They should clear the current body flares I have on both cars in those sizes. But for the autocross sizes, then I would need wider flares, and get wider tires, prolly 255/50/15's for the front, and 295-305/50/15's for the rear... in some road race type tires. What other sizes are out there that will fit these rims, and clear a mild flared Z, with a one inch drop on stock type struts. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes.jsp?make=Dunlop&model=GT+Qualifier+T http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes.jsp?make=BFGoodrich&model=Radial+T%2FA http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes.jsp?make=Yokohama&model=AVS+ES100 also the advans are sort of affordable for me. but only in the 225/50/15's. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes.jsp?make=Yokohama&model=ADVAN+A048 or just venture and get some used slicks and test and tune....if these would fit. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/893-2-USDRRT-Hoosier-Race-Slicks-27x10-15_W0QQitemZ230029620382QQihZ013QQcategoryZ66473QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem other options??? I really like the look of this Z...bigger flares...that I can't find, but the wheels look the same size.. And I wish I could make out the tire sizes in these pics, but to blurry...but they are 14", but I kinda want the same profile as these. Hell...I wish I had these wheels too. http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n49121222 and these are the sex...but would never clear my brakes. http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/92588476
  6. I think I have already watched it 15 times.....
  7. they may be the cruising/show wheels...I got too many other wheels that I can beat up for drifting/autocross. As of now I still haven't decided on what tires to run or get. I never thought I would have so many options. But I"m thinking 225/50/15 Yoko ES100 for the front, and some 255-275ish/50/15 BFG's Traction T/A's for the rear. I also have a track car, so I might throw some road race slicks on them as well, once they start to fade or get beat up a little. I love and hate having two Z's....parts can swap over to other cars, and I can never find a happy medium.
  8. Those pop up all the time on Zilvia http://www.zilvia.net/f/forumdisplay.php?f=21
  9. I've always relied on this link to find most wheels and tires... also I have a CRX, so it also lists a few things honda related. But most of the links there are also the same links thats Z people can also use... http://www.usol.com/~carpaydm/Links/
  10. the fronts have a 3" BS, and the rears a 4"back space....I do have two Z's, if they clear the brakes on my white Z, then they might end up on there...these are mostly going for show duty, but if the itch urges me, then they might go on drifting duty. I got them for $1200 shipped from a kid in Hawaii, one brand new, 3 other had tires put on, and he went another route and removed the tires and sold them. He said he got them for around $1500. And hes a dealer for AR.. My buddy is hording a wide body kit, and I have two new fiberglass front finders to play with, when I get time, I'll get wider flares on, or just leave it the same so when I do switch back to the race/drift tires, it won't look too dorky.
  11. http://www.redpepperracing.com/gallery/v/airjockie/Wheels/?g2_page=11 http://www.redpepperracing.com/gallery/v/airjockie/Wheels/?g2_page=10 just got my AR's 15x10 and 15x12's....now for some tires.
  12. well, I was wondering what limits an open can take, or a welded one. I have a Nismo R-180 4.11 2 way lsd in my NA car, but I was wanting to boost it down the road and I'm not to fond of upgrading to the R200 yet, but I have the R200 LSD in the boosted Z now as well, but I have no idea on how many miles are on it or how the upkeep was on it.

  14. For the guys in FL and the southern East coast states, check out the DGtrials, they are having events down there all the time in Atlanta, PM Eric and tell them Clayton sent you and you need some instruction when you go to the events, he should set you up with a better driver to ride along with you and help you out a little. As for the SRz...how was the balance? the weight shift? and did the nose dive down on the corners? Did the turbo lag hurt or help you? (if it's a DET) and did a feint kick out easier or harder. My problem is I just should have stuck with a 30 year old car with the 30 year old parts and 20 year old tires...I was drifting it so easily and nice, actually had a few decent events until things started breaking...then when the rebuilds came up, I over built it...and lost all the feeling of the car. I refuse to try another car till I can get my car drifting again...so I veared away from my freinds cars... The only way I could ge tthe Z to drift is by feinting....Ebrake sucks, no power at the time to clutch kick with a crappy MAF tube that was duct tapped too many times...so I just showed up to events and only had one run most of the times. Ohh well, the afterparties are the real reason I'd go to some events. But I built up the Z again this year, and only did one event...not enough seat time to find the feel of the car again, so I was spinning all day again....but I don't feel bad, because I slapped one of the Drift Alliance guys in the Z and he was spinning at the same places I was, and he liked the car and I think he's going to do one for the next season...I hope. Drifting at an autocross is a no-no...a few slides are ok at a few times, but when you slide constenly, they'll kick you out. But it is a good place to get seat time in the car and hit some corners. And I got another monster I was planning on hitting the track with, but it needs alot of work and right now I'm swamped at work and the house re-build is draining my wallet. so I'll prolly build up another monster this winter for next year. And this steering mod....explain it a little more in detail....with pics if possible.....before I go spend money on those quik steer arms... I got a subby rack from a 96 legacy that I thought I might fab on one of the Z's, and track down some power steering pump if I have time. I have found that after a decent day of drifting...my arms are useless on the drive home. and here's my keeper pic.....
  15. It is for sale...still all apart and some of the other parts are on the parts car. Cleaned up, slapped together, and tuned..it will be a car that can take the right driver to Solo II nationals. you just have to get the cage if it's on the safety list. I live up in CT. heres one of the ads... http://hondaswap.com/vehicles-sale-trade-wanted/offer-70608/
  16. too much...right now its in rebuild status, but T25, 9psi, stock block, worked head, LSD, ACT clutch, full suspention, and it's going back together soon and then it's for sale. I got to many projects, and not enough time to do them anymore.
  17. I've use the garden trip on my honda for a few years....the stuff lasts forever.
  18. I'm not sure about the Tokyo area, but I lived in Osaka for a while. In Feb - March I believe there is the Osaka Auto Messe, which is like the Tokyo Auto show. I'll dig up some info if your interested in attending. It would mean a ride on the bullet train from Tokyo to Osaka..which I suggest you do anyways...it's a fun ride. I'll prolly be going to Japan next year in March with a few other guys if I can manage my money right, but I'll be mostly in the Nara/Kyoto/Osaka area.
  19. Well, an idea that comes to mind...is to see if the the guys on HybridZ can get in touch with companies that have Z parts they fabbed or sell, and see if they could go out on a limb and get some of their parts to said teams of builders for said sponsored cars...at a fee that the building teams can afford, and in return...the said companies can design, do the graphics to promote their parts, logo's splatered on the team cars for the amount of space possible for the amount of parts supplied...along with HybridZ logo's, and if some members here had hook-up to get tires, other parts, paint, and if they can throw some shop time into the cars... I could see it. 2-3 cars in Cali, a few cars on the East-coast, and random builds in the mid-west. If applicants can show what they have, what they want to do, type up a proposal to be posted in a section of the forums, and if the locals to them can contribute or help, then their builds will be ready on time for the next season of motorsports. All the cars, can prolly be painted the same scheme, same color, and look the same from 100 feet away...since most magazine articals have pics from a distance....it would look like one car is dominating all the motorsports venues. A few for drift, a few for Autocross, some for road-racing....it could be awesome. Of course...it's just an idea. But if one car lands up on a magazine cover, then the companies that have donated or reduced their prices on their parts for the HybridZ builders group, they will get their logo's seen country wide. The more their name is seen, then the more hits their webpage will get. and they get decent advertising. But then again...thats basically how sponsorship works... A damn good example is Team Falken, a drifting team, using various cars, and the other sponsors they have for the Drifting Alliance guys is insane...but those guys have done a lot of work on their own, and they work their butts off...and it shows when they pull up with a huge truck with their cars in it, and all the tires they are going to blow-up...it's awesome. They have perfected the drifting showmanship, and their sponsors are very happy. They have their own DVD out now, and you can't pick up a single car magazine and not find them in there somewhere. Plus when JR won the D1 championship against the Japanese drifters...with a new Mustang...it made magazines and video's world wide. What Falken tire did, was smart...they got the right guys to tear up their tires, and now their tires are hunted down by other drifters...pro and non-pro alike. Also, since the resent movies for drifting, the recent web-page explosion for drift, and just the damn popularity of the sport alone....the market for the cars that are normally used for drifting ( which normally are $500 cars ) are now being sold all the time for 5 times more than what they are worth. Rich kids will buy anything...even if they don't use it...but just having it is a new poser status. Granted...Z's can't drift good...at least the one I have...but for other motorsports...they kick ass, and they have a new street appeal since the old school imports scene is getting popular again. We all know it when we take our cars out on the road...eveyone you pass or drive next too will give a smile and sometimes a thumbs up.....so we already know our cars are hot... and any Japanese car has been steriotyped as rice since they came to America...the later rice calling was just lately with the fresher import boom. But we take pride in our old Japanese car...so what happens when rice get's old...it turns into sake sometimes....rice wine. So if we're show or go, it's still an old Japanese car, it's hot, and sexy....just like wine. So lets get HybridZ's Team Sake rolling.......
  20. Ouch....take a grinder to it, or sand it down to dull it. The most I ever had for pain.... Ohhh...too many stories, so I'll be brief. 1. had a used clutch set in a box, tipped the box up, the set came out, fell on my big toe...and chopped it of....had it surgically stiched back on at the second bone. I can now bend my big toe and it cracks like crazy. 2. As a kid, I rode a bike with no shoes on, the same big toe had it's nail yanked completely out by the chain. Ever pull a finger nail or toe nail out of your body?...it hurts. 3. I chewed tabbacco when I was young, had to have a cyst removed from my bladder the size of a fist...at 15 years old... 4. I impailed my right hand with a position light lens that was cracked when I was trying to settle the struts on a preflight on an F-15....wing is 9 feet off the ground, I had to jump and hang on to the wing tip to bump the struts, got hung up with 200 lbs of my weight with a light lens holding me there... 5. Was pulling a rolling toolbox across the flight line, I stopped, the box kept rolling and severed my achillies tendon on my right foot. couldn't walk for 6 weeks. 6. I've lost count of how many engine changes I've done on aircraft and cars..and each swap has had it's fair share of skinned knuckels. 7. I can't even pick up 50 lbs anymore...my back is so screwed up with something that it feels like a knife going into my spine everytime I bend down to pick something up.....and I'm only 34 years old... Been to doctors, they can't find anything wrong.. so corona and walmart ibuprofeen to get me to sleep. But...my pain is just a pin prick compared to what some of my freinds have been thru....one guy has MS, another guy has been hit and pumeled while on a bike, and other stories I've heard from other guys at work...their stories make my wounds sound like carpet burns. But I have been married twice.....does that count as pain?
