  1. Yup. More function than form...and I wish all wheels were like them. First, the hub is Aluminum, and finned just like a fan clutch, so the hub will absorb the heat from the rotor or drums, and disperse that heat to open air, then there is the optional aero-cover that you bolt on, and that also aids in more brake cooling. Plus they were made for racing, so they are strong and lightweight...for their era. mine weighs about 11 lbs, which was good for the mid 1980's. And now they just have a classic bling to bring old school honda's back into the scene. Plus the Advan A008's only weigh 10 lbs, so for wheels and tires for my CRX, total of 88lbs...and the grip is awesome, no brakefade, and they are actually show worthy as well. Good luck finding a clean set for under $600. I also wish something like these could be made up for Z's...but with a decent lip. :burnout: :burnout: :burnout:
  2. The tires came in yesterday for the front, and I tried a local place to mount them...they freaked...but they had a cheetah...so they could set the beads...there's a little stretch in them....and the handle great... 15x10's, a very negative offset...with stupid hard to find Dunlop SP Sport 9000 245/35ZR15's....they even say "made in Germany" on them...two tires on the car, and two more tires of that size for spares...all new. Now to find something to match the grip for the rears, I'm looking for 345/35ZR15's.... if anyone has some of those kicking around...I'll buy them.
  3. AC Current is that...alternating current... in dire time, and dire times only, plug the generator into the clothes dryer receptical, and turn off all un-nessisary breakers.. It will backfeed in as 220 from the 220 wires, and get back to the CB box, and be redistributed correctly to the other CBs. Go get a dryer wire and a plug that fits your generator, and hope that the generator will reach from the outside...do not run the generator in the house...carbon monoxide is bad...very bad. Power comes back on, then unplug, and carry on with your life. That was my neighbors idea..I'm not an electrician, but he said it should work. And it sounds better than adding CB and wires into houses panel.

  5. I like the lightweight d15a3's, they boost good, have a stronger block than most people think, and they weigh 100lbs less, and if built right makes decent hp. I am...uhmm....crap. It's happening again... I might be getting another car this week...another CRX, with a DOHC.... http://boston.craigslist.org/sob/car/247530291.html I got the money, just enough to get it, but then the tires for the Z will have to wait...ohh well... Biggest problem is the wife...when the kid leaves this car here, she's going to go postal.

  7. the strike was last Feb, I had to use all of my income tax to just make it thru those 6 weeks.
  8. I shipped them in pairs thru the mail system.. and I work at Sikorsky Aircraft...
  9. 2 other Fairladies are a coming... Plus I'd love to get that car as is, right now...but the mentioned 600hp Fairlady has my interest's..
  10. I'm not sure yet, if they do the job with some decent tires, and drive nice...then I might keep them... If not, then they might just end up as show wheels and get sold with the cars when I get tired of them.. And I'm planning another trip to Japan near the end of March...I'll have my tax return, 3 weeks vacatation pay, and I might get a credit card. I lived over there for 7.5 years, I know the places to get parts, and a few contacts to get other parts... I do have a small goal to fulfill in the spring...I have to race (legally) a few cars, one event in autocross, one event at a drag strip, and one event at a roadrace locally. The stakes are $1000 buy in, and the prize is the pot from 2-100 cars....right now I got to build up one car, DOT tires, street legal, and can take on a newer M3 with a decent driver on sick tire tires. And the other entrants are guys with sick hondas, neons, a vega, and whatever else decides to enter...if this challenge goes thru. If I can get one of my cars to get into the 12's or faster, handle on rails, and corner on a dime...then I think I'll have a chance, win the pot, and have more money to invest into other parts or hobbies.
  11. not for sale yet...I'm still buying tires for them...
  12. I've been trying to sell all the wheels, and the ones I have left over or just the ones that I'm prolly asking too much for... http://www.ctdrifting.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2199 And the red one is also mine...it's the drift slut. http://www.redpepperracing.com/gallery/v/airjockie/album512/ On the white one, I got rid of the gnose, and it was hit in the rear, plus it was raced for about 7 years, so it's way past retirement, and prolly not structurally safe for the street...but I want to toss a few more events it's way and see how it does. Then I'll strip it and find another Z to put it in, or use it to upgrade the red Z.
  13. Plus in the last two years, I've rebuilt or done swaps on 3 other cars, and worked my butt off on my house, not to mention, rebuilding my garage from the inside out...all thats left is the siding. Plus I work 7 days a week at work building helicopters on 3rd shift 30 miles from my house....just to cover the money to pay bills and pay for the toys.... http://hondaswap.com/members-lounge/2-years-later-old-house-who-has-56k-internet-anymore-78794/
  14. One shopping trip to Japan and I bring back 40 rims, a Nismo 2 way R-180 LSD, and a bag of toy cars... I think I still have over 60 rims kicking around, and I still go out and buy more...like the 15x10's and 15x12's... What 6 weeks on strike does to a person.... And then had to get more rims... Then the parts car I bought, but decided to beat it up after I got it running again...it runs now, and I haven't touched it. The boosted Z monster. And the money pit of a honda... Just the steering wheel alone was close to $700, and now I got the engine rebuilt and waiting to go in, with a bigger turbo, new suspension, 450 lb rear springs, all new carpet, and a mess of new parts for it...it will be a sleeper autocross beast...plus plenty of tires to burn from new Hoosiers to Advan A008's, with spare Advan A048s to play with. Just a little 87 CRX SI....I promise.... And I also have an 86 Civic Si, with bad rods, but it'll be a parts car for the CRX, or I might get a hair up my butt and slap a DOHC in it and make it a sleeper daily driver. I'd probably trade all these for a decent airworthy Cessna and something good on gas for a daily driver...The wife wants a new Subaru Outback... But my new driveway can fit 8 cars, and if I build a shed, then I might actually get two cars in the garage....
  15. For years now, all that goes thru my mind is flares, wide body kits, ZG kits, spoilers, Watanabe's, wide wheels, hp, Nismo LSDs, tires with grip, wings, L28's, carbs, turbos, race clutches, paint, seats, carpets, ignition components, Haltech, Halmeter, autocross, drifting, roadrace, rollbars, cages, stereos, and toy cars...... and thats just for the Z's Then there is the Honda's.... Same as above.... but sleeper mode. and all that comes out of my wallet is money... What I end up with is 2 Datsuns, one bought prebuilt, but needs work, one I rebuilt, but still needs work, parts out of my bunghole, more parts I want to buy, more work I want to do, and I still have two other cars that have mega-potential that I built and blew up, started rebuilding, but just ended up with more parts and waiting for a decent time to slap them together...and when I do get time to do the work, I check back on the internet...and find more parts that I can barely afford...and then I research more, and find other parts to work with those parts I just looked at, and it never stops....... And my wife.... well, she was into it, she fed me some stuff, like shopping trips to Japan, importing rare parts, and she even baught some of the stuff for me.... And now she's getting sick of looking at the driveway with 5 cars piled up, most in beatup shape, blown engines, engines missing, my basement filled with wheels, tires, and parts, my 2 car garage filled with more parts, tools, and only one car can fit into it... And now she's not happy about the cars anymore... The only thing I think this sickness is... is some sort of an Compulsive Adult Retentive Classic Automobile Shopping Hyperactivity Glutinous Attention Venarial Eccentric Disorder or CARCASHGAVED for short....but at least I don't have CARCASHGONE....then I would be devistated...
  16. FWIW....I scored 4 new Dunlop 9000 245/35ZR15 from Ebay, that auction I got out bidded, the buyer backed out and the seller re-listed with a BIN for $320, $80 for shipping, so 4 for around $400. At least I have the fronts taken care of, and spares when they wear down. hehe
  17. looking around at some cars, found all these items on a test car...and I started to wonder myself, what could be added to be functional for some spirited driving.
  18. http://tanetane92.web.infoseek.co.jp/gallery.html 3rd link down, only one picture though...it might be in other links as well...
  19. Not bad, But JR's Falken Mustang turns me on.... http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=1308851163 and I'm sure a simple search for Falken, JR, mustang drift, will pop up tons of vids... burnouts is one thing...but drifting while doing a burnout at 80 mph is another thing...
  20. do it as a hobby, not as a source of income...unless you have deep pockets and a place set up to do it. A project like that will take forever before you see any profit from it. It takes money to make money, that's prolly been said everywhere you've been. Plus, any aircraft sitting outside for 20 years will need too many parts replaced before it's even airworthy...I wastched a DeHavillan Caribou rot away so bad that the flap runners made of alum was flaking and the flaps fell off. 30 year old alum is not the qaulity as today alum...and remaking those parts or ordering from a company that doesn't exist anymore will take time, luck, and many hours from your life. The 80K's you can make from the rebuild...will take more than what you put into it. Another option you can do...is Ebay it, with your ad stating that a willing re-fab fresh A&P mech will follow the purchase and help with the rebuild, but I bet the guy that buys it will just lowball you for the parts only. How do I know...I worked at Vintage Props and Jets in FL, I've worked at countless FBO's, and now I build and test Sikorsky Helicopters for the commercial Flight ops side. I was in the Air Force as an F-15 Crew Chief, and lets just say I've been around aircraft since I was 12....I'm almost 35 now. As rare as that arcraft seems, there will be another rare aircraft where-ever you go...they stick out like sore thumbs, they look like they don't need much work, and they are just like Z cars hiding away in a barn some where...they will look like a great buy, (I said that already), and not needing too much work...(that too)...and one you break into the outer skin...then you find more problems....(just like a Z)..... Do what you want, but for the advise part of this post...just wait...you'll find something really worth restoring...My dreams is an Albatross...so I can load some freinds into it, fly somewhere, do some diving and camping, and get back home sunday night....from the islands... But my wife wants me to make an old proto-type Savoie from Italy, the same plane the Japanese anime Porco Rosso flew.. I'd be happy with an old fly-baby and putt around the local feilds everyday after work....
  21. And I believe Stony has more info on that blue car...
  22. that blue one was on Zeroyon.com in the vids...something like Dry Hopp November 2003 - Drag Racing 150 meters The link is suspended...I have it on my other computer, but it crashed... Zeroyon.com, drag vids, Nov 2003.
  23. $200 a pop for the rears don't look too bad...but I can't find the wear ratings for them....if they are above 300 then I might buy them...and get those in the ebay link for the fronts if nobody out bids me.
