  3. hahah, real talk you cant beat rotas on pricing/ looks and fitment. One of the best investment to our cars to look really good. Plus the main US rota dude hooked me up with shirts and stickers when I told him my dust caps where cracked he sent me new ones for free.
  4. Yah I love the picture of your car on the NISEI show. It sat real nice with the new rims/wheels. I have 17x8.5 front and 17x9.5 rear of same rims as yours. I hear you on the 18 inch rims, I was thinking of getting some SSR MS1 like these: http://www.importtuner.com/features/impp_1010_1974_nissan_s30_fairlady_z/datsun_platform.html probably the only 18 inch rims I would use in my car.

  7. I cleaned the bonjo fitting screen and all the surrounding areas. The front carb was dirty, I drove it and it felt a whole lot better. It pulls to 5,800rpm now, but at the top there isn’t much power. My 73 with DGV Weber pulled hard all the way to 7,000rpm and the power was there, and SU's are better than the Downdraft so I know my car has some more power to be freed up.
  8. Tony D, I have not checked the starter system and both my carbs are set 3-1/4 turns down and my jets are the same height. I have never seen a inlet screen, I will try to find it and clean it. @Jasper I do have a small exhaust leak in the exhaust manifold and downpipe. Right in between the donut gasket. I will check my fuel pressure as for now I have a brand new mechanical fuel pump and am not using the electric pump. I did clean the electric fuel pump and changed the filter and will install and hook it up tomorrow.
  9. Hey Rs, did you put new wheels on your car? It seems like you are still running rotas. Did you go from 17x8.5 into a 9.0 front and 9.5 rear Rota RBR? I saw a picture searching on the net. thanks
  10. My early 260z has been converted with 72 round tops amongst other light mods. My problem is that I can only get to 4,500 rpm before I hit a wall. It will not go any higher. I've done : Adjust float bowls to 14mm Cleaned gas tank and changed fuel filter. Bought new ngk bpr6ey11 Adjusted timing to 12btdc Carbs are synced Checked for vacuum leaks with a carb cleaner and water in spray bootle. (no leaks) Well the 260z has an electronic distributor and the vacuum advance is working. The wires are stock aswell as the coil Found a small kink in fuel line and that helped a little in improvement. Ok so the early 260z has a 5/16 fuel return line and a 5/16 feed. As I remember with my 240z (dual webber downdraft) it had 1/4 fuel return line. I am running out of options. My question is should I switch to 1/4 fuel return lines?

  14. @Mario_82_ZXT. Thanks! @nismo_zxt I went to junkyard today and found a NA open r200. I opened cover and it sure was a 3.9. Now on to the Diff shop to put CLSD. Thanks again!
  15. Wow. Thanks nismo_zxt. I will try to find a z31 differential in either 3.7 or 3.9. This upcoming weekend it's 50 percent off. This is very useful to source a specific year/ratio z31 diff. -brian

  18. Thanks Mack, I will give the Differential Shop a call to see if they have a way through this. I already acquired the 280zx 3.9. I didn't know about the infinity m30 but it's always great to learn about different swap possibilities and alternatives.

  21. I got a call from Hoopers Rear End exchange in Sun Valley, CA about my differential, stating that the pinion gear welded its self to the bearing. Its a CLSD from the z31 and he said that it would be better if I find another differential to swap over the CLSD unit. Alexander said he can swap over to any r200 for $150, not bad in my opinion. I can get my hands on a 3.9 Open from a 280zx 5 speed 81-83 for $75 bucks. The main Question is: will the differential be as strong as the original 3.7 LSD if put on the 3.9 open? This setup will be ideal for my close ratio 83 tranny. If converted to 3.9 CLSD will it be the same thing as a JDM R31 3.9 LSD? Thanks -Brian
  22. nthiogen. I already have that diff and with a 83 280zx 5 speed it's slow at acceleration. I'm looking for 3.9 or 4.11 open I'm going to keep my LSD.
