  1. Yes, my father flew 4 shuttle flights and was the 1st astronaut aboard MIR. I have also worked at NASA and KSC so I am very familiar with the tight NASA family. It was always difficult, no matter how confident I was, to watch my father blasting into space. My mother would always cry when he launched and would worry herself the entire time until his return. The atmosphere and the overwhelming sounds of a launch always made me realize how dangerous his job was. I told my wife I was sad for the families because of the anticipation and happiness I had always felt knowing my dad was coming home. I cannot imagine what they must be facing now that this has happened and can only offer my prayers to them.
  2. Shane, where is the new intake manifold? You like the nitrous huh try a 100shot and you will really be happy!
  3. The funny about this whole post is this....Who on here has driven a 240Z with 500hp on the street? Yet you seem to know what exactly it is going to do and what a fool that person is for driving that car. Let me talk about driving a 240Z on the street with 1000hp. Wait, I have never driven a 240Z on the street with 1000hp! I have driven my car on the street 18psi and the 100shot with the Nitto drags and from a roll it did not even spin the tires, but accelerated like a bat out of hell. The car makes well over 500hp, about 475@wheels with nitrous and no problems. Good tires, decent suspension and LSD and you can have some fun. So what if the tires spin a bit, you can still control it.
  4. How wonderful it must be to own a Jim Wolf setup! What, you mean they were not able to tune your car without your car being there? COME ON PEOPLE......WAKE UP! You CANNOT expect someone to send you a map based on your particular combination. 9 times out of 10 it WILL NOT be right! You mean they just had the computer dump fuel under boost? WOW, great tuning! Sell the JUNK and get yourself a programmable ECU.
  5. bottom line to intake manifold top line is for boost controller If you no longer have a boost controller, hook up the bottom one only.
  6. Come on, my Z puts atleast 475@wheels and I have an automatic. I have raceprepped 240Z 9mm rods. Nitride hardened crank and JE forged pistons. The stock rods prepped will survive 600hp in road race apps, so drag race stuff is much shorter duration runs. CV's are a must and larger driveshaft. You are on your own when it comes the tranny. twinturbos and 100shot nitrous!
  7. The material for the elbows is T6061 aluminum(16g) that is 1.5"(od). I wish my ports were bigger and perhaps my next L6 head will have some monster ports. I was going to do a composite plenum, but will not due to certain work issues. Anyway, the plenum will be aluminum and will require some slight hood cutting. I have also reworked the fuel rail setup so I can use the stock injector location. GREAT, now I get to seal up the holes I milled ontop the runners!
  8. I purchased the Walbro GSL 392 external 255l/h and used it on my car. 1 pump allowed me to run 130mph in the 1/4 and the pump is good for about 500wheel hp. I ordered it from racetronix.com for $119 and then the -8 to metric fittings and the install kit. All in all, it was about $150 shipped to my door.
  9. Well, you can't forsee everything when you are blinded by dreams of hp! Correct, a little hood cutting may be in order and then some carbon fiber cover. Hey, it only hits a little.
  10. In a perfect world, it will depend on how much of a PITA it is when trying to machine. Start with .5"length x .75" OD and then somehow drill a slanted hole. Maybe in the mill I can somehow achieve this goal. I don't think it will be too critical in my application??????
  11. I had to tap stock injector ports for 1/8NPT plugs because the injectors would hit the plenum. I mill a spot on each runner to accept an injector bung that I will have to weld on. I think you will see what I mean.
  12. Chris, I saw you driving on Apalache Parkway yesterday. Yes, the car is in Tally at Upgrade Performance. Call, 671-1596 for directions or call me at home, 224-2481 and we can meet up at the shop.
  13. My take is this...from what I understand the V8(proclass) is gone and now the attention is on the 200mph 6cyl which has been done with the 2JZ of Bullish racing. Nissan is a strong platform and discplacement in this class is key. The 350Z motor would be the best platform for competing in this class. Although parts are limited, creativity and peoples willingness to develop products for this motors will have to be utilized.
  14. Damn I'm fast. BTW, there is a problem yet to be resolved with the Mustang dyno so all results must be shifted over 700rpm higher than the graph depicts. I have been corrected that the pulls were to 7300rpm and not 7200rpm. So peak power actually occured a bit lower about 7K RPM.
  15. Update...we just finished dyno tuning with more boost that yielded 360hp@wheels on 93octane. Power peaked at 7300rpm and it pulls like a SOB on the street. Will post dyno graphs and pics in the morning.
  16. He is running a Haltech unit on the car and the turbo really starts to hit its efficiency in the 20+psi range. This same turbo was used on his Honda race car and that made 554@wheels at 29psi of boost.
  17. It is true the rotary will make power, but it is also true there are real issues with the rotary that limit its life and other real issues such as heat and oil consumption. I think we can do just as well with a 2L 4cyl engine.
  18. Completely bonestock SR20DET motor. 6psi - 220hp@wheels 15psi - 301@wheels We will add a 50shot today and tune at 20psi. We just want to get 400hp@wheels with a bonestock motor.
  19. Man, from scratch? That would be a PITA not to mention the cost of 5/8" 6061 and then I have to add injector bosses. The stock manifold is a great starting point. I used a boring bar to hog the ports, but the runners are not that big. The tubes are 1.5"(16G) which means 1.375" ID. It should flow well, but not much more can be removed from the stock intake manifold as I had a few thin spots. Will keep you updated.
  20. I know this is just the beginning, but it gives you an idea of what i am trying to do. Velocity stacks will be on the ends of each runner within the plenum.
  21. turbo apps, NGK BPR7ES-11 (resistance type) NGK BP7(non-resistance type) NGK BPR8 (resistance type) I typically use the 7 and when dialed in well I would use the 8. I always use a resistance type plug with the Electromotive.
  22. Kudos to JeffP for the electric water pump. I will wait to see the results before seeking one. Consider using a Ron Davis dual pass Radiator. You can get one of their generic cores and it is about $350. The dual pass will give you added cooling efficiency over single pass units. Ron Davis Radiators
  23. that is a 321SS/inconel bellow as used on the F1 cars. It runs about $165, but it is nothing like the cheapo turbonetics jobber. The thin one you have is fine for the exhaust, but nothing before the turbo as it is way too thin. My bends from SPD were about $12 cheaper per bend in 321SS. Here is a link and you can ask for a catalog. http://www.artofmarketing.com/services/portfolio/websites/sites/spd/
