  1. If you are doing the tube frame chassis, you may want to look into a Cobra motor. I know they are heavy because of the iron block, but they are made to take serious abuse. They are coming out with a single turbo kit to replace the blower that will make 750HP on pump gas. Up the boost and some race gas, you may be getting there. That's without touching the heads or anything else. Supposedly one of the guys said SVT ran an 800HP Cobra motor for 1000 hours straight to make sure it would live. Maybe one of those beefed up T56s from a Viper (the 10 spline input shaft isn't going to last) with a good clutch. Run that bad boy to a Cobra 8.8" indy. You could easily hit 1000HP with some head porting and more boost. Then turn it back down when it is time to hit the race track. I know the motors are going for 8 to 10 grand at the moment, but that's with the blower I believe. You may be able to get away with the 5.0 cammer crate motor that is coming out with the single turbo. I'm sure the bottom end is as stout on that as on the Cobra. Well, just a few thoughts. I'll see if I can find out anything more from the Cobra forums.
  2. If you guys like some good rock, you may want to check out Dredg or Dredge. Cool, cool band. Anyways, the line driver is about the only way to deal with the surround effect. Other than that, DSPs come to mind or a new head unit with provisions for what you are looking to do. My system in my Honda cranks pretty good. Well, it did until I blew one of the channels on my Hifonics amp for the front speakers. It has Hifonics components (ebay special) to Hifonics 2 way amp (which I blew out) and two CDT Audio 10" subs in sealed boxes to a mono 300W RMS amp. I just overnighted a US Acoustics 2 way for my trip to MSA. Can't take the Cobra (Z won't make it, so don't ask), so it leaves the Honda that has no power. Only way to make up for power is good stereo. It sounds really good though. Well, if you need more wiring, I suggest going to http://www.knukonceptz.com. Better than Monster Cable and cheaper than Radio Shack.
  3. Maybe if you could slot the bolt, slip a flat head screw driver and undo it that way. If its still tough, slot it, and use a wrench piece attatched to the bit for extra torque. Not sure how you'd slot it though. Metal chisel or maybe a dremel cutting/grinding tool smaller in diameter than the hole. Might work, but I've never tried it.
  4. My friend with his 500RWHP TT Supra is always talking about the brakes. Blah, blah, blah...That's what I say. Anywho, they really are awesome. Instead of two sensors, they use four, or rather one at each wheel. ABS sensors that is. I guess Mario Andretti took a TT for a track run. He was most impressed with the brakes. Get in trouble, simply slam on that pedal and get yourself out of it. Of course, you only stop as short as your tires allow, but a good system will allow that to happen repeatedly. I think most Supras don't need more than a pad upgrade for good track ability. Make some air ducts, if they aren't already on there. Anywho, my 2 cents
  5. That 8.8" rear end in the Cobra is holding up extremely well. There is a guy by the name of NitrousPete on http://www.modularfords.com who just broke into the 9's with his stock rear. I think the last time he dynoed it was up at 790RWHP and matching torque. He is running an auto tranny, but I know he's got more power after upping the boost of the Kenne Bell blower to 30 psi. Just a thought.
  6. If I were you, I'd start looking at rally racing AWD sequential systems. Call around and see what some of those cars are doing or maybe even the Pike's Peak cars. There was a close to 1000HP (I wanna say 4 cylinder, because I was extremely amazed when I say it) Toyota truck running 4wd or AWD. Anywho, I say go Skyline and don't look back, unless you have to funds to do a Z. Just my 2 cents.
  7. After reading something (I believe it was an article in Car Craft) they stated exclusively not to use a fluid filled dampner. They said one of the best solutions was to go to ATI and have them build a custom one based on the harmonics they record from their specialized equipment. There is also another person working on a universal dampner that is supposed to work well across the board for just about any motor. I'll look for those for the articles tonight or tomorrow.
  8. Has anyone heard of the Crystal Guard stuff? From what I can see, it looks awesome. Longer lasting and no streaking or any of the other stuff related to waxes. Check it out at http://www.crystalguard.com
  9. Just let the judge know what happened and be honest. I know that sometimes I pass traffic and have to speed up to get around them to keep from slowing the fast lane down.
  10. I'll have to find the email, but there is one floating around stating to boycott Mobil and Exxon. They are the two biggest gas companies, and if you boycott them, it will force gas prices down. I'd boycott them just for positioning the buttons in a different order. I believe you really have to lack a conscience to run an oil company IMO.
  11. Thanks man. Are you going to be in Sac on May 17th? How's that rotary coming along?
  12. Does anyone know of a good frame shop in the Bay Area. I may need to get the Z checked out (see my strut brace installation problem), and my little Civic bent back. Thanks in advance
  13. Well, I checked your measurements, and they are the exact same on my car. PDK said they'd take care of anything that had to do with their product. Those guys there are wonderful. Hopefully, when I get some more money (gonna be broke, because of a turbo motor upgrade) I can really start pushings for those carbon fiber interior pieces they can do. Does anyone have any factory Z measurements? Shock tower to shock tower? I'm pretty sure my frame is pretty straight, but you never know. Thanks again Mudge, for the measurements. Its put me in the right direction as to what to do. Why didn't you come out to the Rio Vista meet? Are you planning on going out to Sac. in May? Well, now its time to measure the bar that PDK sent me to see if that's off.
  14. Go check out ubid.com and ebay. You can get some good deals from good people on ebay and ubid is all stuff ubid owns. It all depends on your budget. Let me know and I'll see what I can find. I've done mine for pretty cheap so far. There is a site for wiring too. It's http://www.knukonceptz.com. The stuff there is awesome, as good as Monster Cable (if not better), and cheaper than Radio Shack. I'm sure if you wanted to do subs, you wouldn't have a problem building boxes. http://www.diysubwoofers.org should be a good place to get you started on that. Anyways, just let me know what you want to spend and I'll see what I can dig up.
  15. Thanks a lot. I'm going to go bust out the tape measure and see if anything is really bad.
  16. Thanks Mudge. I'm not sure what to hope for. My car's frame tweaked, or the bars are off. The rear one fit fine, no problem.
  17. It's brand new, and supposedly built to spec. Maybe my frame is way tweaked or something. I did try to put the plates in place and then install the bar, but that didn't work either. Guess PDK is getting a call.
  18. I found the stuff on the California website to get in contact with your district senator. Here is the link: http://www.sen.ca.gov/~newsen/senators/districtmaps.HTP
  19. Alright, so here's the deal. I got the rear one in with a little bit of persuasion, but everything went alright. As for the front, it has been a different story. It almost seems like the bar is 1/2" too short. I don't know how to tweak/twist/bend the frame enough to get it over. I've tried jacking different corners and parts of the frames up, but it did not work. Does anyone have some ideas? I have some pics, here they are:
  20. Ooops, just realized I posted this in the wrong place. You think a year on this forum and you'd know. Well, I guess I'll make a link in the chassis section.
  21. I thought about slotting the holes, but I'm worrying about the rest of the stuff not lining up. There are pieces that connect from the strut towers to the frame rail and firewall. I'm also worried that I don't have enough room to slot them. I guess I better fire off an email to PDK and see what they suggest. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know. Thanks again, RacerX, I may end up slotting them anyways. I can always order new ones from PDK if something goes wrong.

  23. Dave240Z, I believe the fore fathers of this country set it up so the citizens could scrutinize the leaders and the actions they take. Personally, I don't agree having our military in Iraq at the moment. It will not make us any safer, actually it will do the opposite. Terrorism will grow as a result of this. There is a difference between actually looking at the facts and making educated guesses as to what will happen; and just throwing out uneducated words stating that people should die. P.S. Are you going to the Rio Vista swap meet? I would like to meet some more of the guys from around the Bay Area.
  24. The Chevron next to my house is around $2.40 for premium. $2.16 for crappy 87 octane. The Cobra is definitely a little expensive to fill at $2.40 a gallon. Glad I drive the Honda most of the time, because of the crap gas and good milage.
  25. I'm seeing a little more media coverage than ever before. I'm not talking about being on the front lines and such, but more the point of views from different cultures. Not only that, but we do get to see at least an estimate of civilian casualties, which has never been done before. The objectivity of the press has always been a question, especially those from a capitalistic system. As for opinions, from what I've seen, it hasn't been too much from the the journalists, but from those they are interviewing. For the first time, we are also seeing interviews with civilians in the surrounding areas who's lives are involved. It is isn't all from a general's point of view. Not to say that their view doesn't matter, but it's not all there is. Anyways, just makes me mad that someone as educated as a professor wishes death upon anyone. That person's degree should be revoked and they should be fired.
