  1. The BBC is a much better place for news that is potential damning to the U.S. I want to know what's wrong with my country, so I know how to vote to fix it. Can't hear that here. Big wigs up top only let us know what they want us to.
  2. If this whole thing was staged, I truly feel sorry for Jessica Lynch. For her to be stuck in the middle of something fake, something that she probably didn't know a thing about is amazing. I do have my theories about this. There needed to be some sort of success story in Iraq, because everything else has basically been a failure. We were all lied to throughout the whole ordeal. President Bush and his "helpers" basically told the American public that we were going to rid a country with weapons of "mass destruction." If anyone has seen some of the smaller articles, you'll find no weapons have been found, nor have they probably existed in the last few years. Personally, this country has it's values quite out of whack. We impeach a president for lying about his sexual affairs, but the next one can send a country to war based on another lie; potentially putting many of our troops and the citizens of Iraq in harms way. Don't forget the financial ramifications of this effort. Back to the Lynch story. The glamorization of it all is just a result of our capitilistic system. It's an unfortunate side effect, but that's the way some people here work.
  3. I think it can only help the Z community. Just look at how civil everyone is about it. It may not be Z related, but it's still something interesting to be talked about here that makes for great conversation. Personally, I love talking about politics, laws, etc... with all you people, because it stays so civil.
  4. Any one ever heard of an Ozone bomb. Someone told me about this once, but I never really checked into it. Basically using O3 (like 02 but with one more oxygen atom - aka ozone) to absorb smells and all. I think something happens chemically, where the O3 breaks down to O2 when that extra oxygen atom bonds with smelly stuff. Someone who has gone through more than one semester of chemistry would be much better at explaining this stuff. Just a thought.
  5. What about the newer Celica seats. I really liked them. They offered excellent support and had high wear pads in specific areas. I'm sure you could get a decent set at a pick and pull. If you can afford more, I like the Corbeau seats for the price.
  6. Your best bet is probably a factory service manual in conjunction with Haynes or Chilton. You can get the factory service manual (FSM) at http://www.courtesynissan.com which is best bought on CD.
  7. Speaking of the beach, a decent sized sea lion (or seal...never remember) washed up on the shores of Santa Cruz today. Looked like a either a shark or whale took a chunk out of its stomach. Never knew something could have that much intestine.
  8. The supercharger whine is just wonderful from inside the car. It's even more pronounced with the Densecharger intake on it. You liked the car, though? I really do like ours. Lots of fun and the torque feels sooooo good on your lower back. I get my speed fix from that, seeing my Honda is really slow and the Z is an over-carbed L24. The biggest difference between the Lancer and Subaru, and the Cobra is how much cheaper it is for more hp out of the Ford. For $3500, you can have the Kenne Bell twin screw blower that will put you close to 600hp. Hell, the intake is worth 25hp by itself. I just saw the new Cosworth Focus today in Road and Track magazine. My dad has been looking for another car and looks like it may be another Ford.
  9. At the moment the new XLR contains a hotter Northstar motor in a RWD configuration. The Northstar motor will only remaim, IMO, until the C6 and all the bugs are worked out of the new V8. Pontiac is getting more of the goods than Chevy. They've been getting supercharged V6's for the last few years. Only now, is the Impala getting one. Don't forget the new LS1 GTO. That car is going to be trick IMO.

From what I remember, I specifically remember him saying he still has the stock rear end, including axles. Then again, he does have an AOD instead of the T56, but there others out there with the manual that still have a good to go diff and axles. I'll see what I can find, but I'm pretty sure these bad boys are holding up to over 700HP on the drag strip.
  11. Pretty sure those frame rails are going to need to be either repaired or replaced. Mine aren't rusting, but I'm going to do them anyways. I have some holes in my floorboards that have rubber plugs in them. Don't know if they are stock or not, but they're getting replaced too. Anyways, if you are seeing rust holes, better replace 'em. Do it right, and don't compromise the safety of your car.
  12. I can't wait to try out my friend's 3.5 Altima. Her mom drove her old beater Volvo for the first time in many years. The car (Volvo) shakes like all hell from lack of alignment, and everything is so lose it rattles like a baby toy. To get to my point, her mom couldn't stand it, and when out and bought her the new car. As soon as the car is broken in, I'm going to see if I can take her for a little bit of a spin and show her how quick it really is.

I'm not going to pay $9.50 to go see the damn thing, but I did see lots of the "fun" cars out tonight. As I was just getting off work, I managed to see all them heading down to the movie theaters along the main drag. You wouldn't believe how much I wished I had my 240 ready, or the Cobra on hand. There's always a shot at "3 Fast, 3 Furious."
  15. Where are those pics of your car? I'll see what I can do.

The new Cobra rear end is pretty much indestructible. There is a guy that just made it into the nines with the stock rear end and half-shafts. Wheel hop can be a problem though, because of the bushings and a few other deflection points that change the geometry. Pretty simple fix. IMO, you'd be better off doing a Vette aluminum rear end like Scottie's GNZ.
  18. That is an awesome Porsche. I think the guy doing that was going for a modern wide end look on an older model. Just put the GT2 drivetrain in there, and you'd be good to go. The Ghia is one piece of work too.
  19. Yeah, start printing some articles up about how karting and other forms of racing make you a better driver. I'm so much more aware of possible situations on the road after doing a little karting. Jim Russell Karting classes, here I come!!!
  20. What Stang are you talking about? Current GT's do alright, but the older 5.0L really were sucking wind. They weren't that fast, but I don't believe it takes much to get one going. The 2003 Cobra on the other hand will do 0-60 in 4.5 sec and 1/4 mile in the mid twelves with the right driver. I only say the right driver, because most magazines use the "right" driver to show you what the car can do. Speaking of the Cobra, the bolts holding the AC on were sheared off in the block. I was amazed. The thing only has 5112 miles on it, and those little bolts let go. I lost power steering (not fun when the car weighs 3800lbs with you in it), AC, water pump, and for some reason lost brake boost too. Not sure why that happened, but it did. They are fixing it under warranty, but I'm beginning to believe all the things my extended family said about Fords. FORD - Fix or Repair Daily - now ain't that the truth
  21. Some dude in a Prelude flipped me off the other day when he was going in the complete opposite direction. I don't even know the guy. What an a**. To bad my car isn't fast enough yet to be competent with those punks, otherwise I would have whipped a U-turn and showed that guy what a real car is. It would've been embarassing if he had a T3/T4 turbo sitting under the hood. Anyways, just needed to vent. Oh, and one more thing. Some idiot in a 5.0L Mustang made the comment that my car sounded like a weed wacker. I told a SBC was going under the hood. He turned up his nose and said "At least it will be a little bit faster then." I hate those guys. I wanted to get out of the car and pound his brains in. He makes the Mustang community gag. I should've told I'd go get the '03 Cobra and see what's up them. I hate stupid people. Ok, now I'm done venting, really. Well, maybe...jk. I'm done.
  22. These Hondas and such or the way to go when you have little money want some speed. I do agree, many kids have given them a bad name. I was talking to my neighbor the other day (he's in his sixties) and he was reminiscing about his teenage days as a hotrodder. His take was how guns have changed the atmosphere. They used to go out and run on the street for fun. Yeah, there was the grudge match every once and a while, and the fight ever so often, but all you came home with was a broken nose. Now, there are few places for the kids to go. Most places are over run with residential housing, and businesses. I have to drive roughly an hour to go to any track. Imagine some of these kids that having nothing within hours of them, what else are they going to do? Well, enough with that ranting, but I think this "ricer" phenomenon is just a reliving of the old hotrodding scene from years ago. It just depended what group you hung out with and personal preference that determined what you were interested in doing to a car. That is the same thing presently, but it has just exploded a little more. Sensationalized media sure does a number with things. I'm not trying to insinuate that anyone is senile and old, but sometimes memories do fade and change with age.
  23. I, too, have a 91 Honda Civic with the 1.5L turd. It's actually a lot of fun when you can get the jump on someone at the light and you don't even have to worry about smoking the tires trying to do so. My little Civic has caught many a cars through the on and off ramps. A few guys in their sports cars, are wondering why this kid in that little POS Honduh is hanging off their bumper when they are doing all they can to lose him. I usually leave my window open to here tire squeels, so I know they're pushing it. Anywho, those little Civic's can be made to haul some major booty. The hatch and CRX's are light little cars I believe, and it doesn't take much more than twice the HP to put that thing down the track quickly. I'd also watch out for those Golden Eagle sleeved Honda blocks. If they are setup with strong internals, you wouldn't believe how much boost they can take and I also just found out about an Integra AWD that was out for a year or two in Europe. May help in putting some of that power down, if my little car ever gets boosted.
  24. Like Scottie-GNZ said, it is about driver, even more so with the FWD cars IMO. Those cars are quick, especially for $20,000. You also have to remember that this year's model does not have LSD. Can't wait until next year for the LSD and some good after market stuff.
