Sorry, I can't figure out if I need a translator, or a decoder ring.

Sure are a lot of threads on brakes right now. If it helps anyone, I did it the easy, safe way. I called Dave at Arizona Z Car. I have a supercharged V8 car that runs very well. It has the ability to gain substancial velocity in a very short distance, of course this requires alot of ability to reduce that velocity. The car had Willwoods on it when I bought it 11.5"x3/4" vented rotors, 4 piston calipers front. And 10" solid rotor 2 pistons in the rear. Not bad for a z-car, I just wanted more. I needed to replace the front rotors for sure. But my other goals were to replace bearings front, and rear. The more I thought about the project scope, I thought I'll just get the big ones from AZC. They are properly engineered, tested, guaranteed, supported, and everything that you need was included (except 280z hubs, & brake fluid). I will admit the look of these monsters did play a part. I just don't have the time anymore to monkey around with developing, and dialing in a brake system. I wanted big stopping power, and predictable control. It made sense to me to purchase the products, and testing as a package. I am glad that I did, all the components were 1st class, instalation simple, looks great, and they offer repeatably brutal stoping power. BrandonZ brings up some good points to consider. John Coffey has great points as well that come 1st hand. They are derived from his vast experience and testing I'm sure. I just did it differently. Do your homework before you spend the buck...and do it safe. I have cringed more than once in the last week or so reading through some of the post on braking. Here,s some pic's of my set up.

I would concur with all above. I am running the Arizona Z Car 13" - 6 piston setup on one of my cars. And I love them. A sucessfull system should create a harmony between the componets, create balance, and offer predictable function. This end product is a result of proper engineering, material knowledge, and testing. When buying a system do your homework and go with a proven design. When mixing and matching on your own be prepared for alot of testing and changing. If your performance, safety, and cost concience, a proven system like the AZC system maybe a bigger bargain than you thought. Did I mention, They look great too.

St Pete. I am finishing a resto on the Primadonna, and installing Air Conditioning right now. In the mean time I am driving the other Z for shows, and events. I do belong to Suncoast Z's though, suprised we havn't met. Roger

Why do you need superpowers if you have cool gadgets, and a huge bank account? Let's face it, Batman's a gadget guy.

The distance from the centerline of the front wheel on both a G-nose, and the Primadonna to the extreme front of the car is 39 inches. I don't have a standard body s30 to compare that measurement with. Take a measurement I would be interested in knowing. As far as the skirting, It was a fairly popular mod in the 80's. There were even some kits at the parts stores that you could buy. I think that I do recall some people purchasing their aerodynamic needs at the local garden center though. As far as the Primadonna when I got the car there was no skirting on the sides. However, I would assume because the front skirting on the car is about 1/2 in thick reinforced rubber conveyor belt material, that any skirting on the side would have be the same. Let's face it, any skirting that you put on the vehicle better have some grunt to be effective, especially at speed. Ever seen a urethane nose on a Camaro at 110 mph? leave the edging material at the garden shop......unless your Mr Green Jeans (now I'm giving away my age). Rog

The red car was 1st of the Primadonna's. Car #2 was the Black car, and #3 the white Scarab. Today only the Black, and White car are accounted for. These were the wildest Z's on the road 25 years ago.

Atkinson is correct. Steve Parmley had told me that you were going to be hooking up with Jack at the Hurst Castle (I think??) event to try and get somemore vintage stuff for his site. I guess we need to get you two together. Have you seen the new Primadonna Z32? I'll PM you. Rog

Never did find anything, 4 or 5 investigators and they all get to the same point and people get quiet. Jack gave up looking and built the Z-32. Did you guys ever get together this summer? If it's any consolation, your the last person we know of having seeing the Red car. I ended up buying Bernstein's car and spent the summer going through it. You and Jack ought to come out for the "007" Nationals in Daytona. Rog .....One more time

Hey Max, Here's a pic of the Primadonna wearing the BBS cooling fans. Notice the Scarab badges on the sail panels.
-
OOOOOH the Ferrari's, and the sounds.
-
Those are BBS cooling fans. They are plastic inserts that bolt into a standard BBS wheel. They were the hot setup in the early 80's. I have several sets, I don't use them, I like the deep dish look without them.
-
Anyone recognize, or know where to get the skirting like whats around the front of this g-nose? It appears to be an exrusion that slides over the fiberglass profile and is perhaps glued in place.

Those pictures are of the Bernstein car that I bought. Rog

You too Ernie! Happy Holidays Roger

Let me see if I can get one.

Hey Sparky, If you have clearance problems, consider using Oval tubing by Spin Tech http://www.spintechmufflers.com/spintech/spintechindex.asp It's expensive but may give you the clearance you're looking for. I just did mine and it worked out great.
-
That would be mine.
-
The mufflers are mfg. by Aero Turbine. They are the official muffler of NASCAR. Ploished stainless, small, nice stuff. I used oval tube exhaust by Spintech to increase my ground clearance.

I like the look of the Corrado addition, and the big vent/diffuser screen. Your car definately sits low enough in the front that the additional rear drop should look at home. The biggest ting that I like is the addition of the dual exhaust. It gives balance and frames your current vent. I just finished new duals on mine, and it looks much better than the previous single pipe.

Here's another.

I always liked the composition of this photo of James Dean. It's got it all! I think that somethig along these lines would be cool.

S30 Aerodynamics not really that bad?
