  1. I really dig that car..........of course I am a sucker for the unusual. My every day car is a station wagon.
  2. Hi Sara, Welcome! You've come to the right place for the unusual. When it comes to horsepower, handling, and styling, this is Mecca. Hope to meet everyone from the magazine at the Convention in Daytona.
  3. Newman International in Tampa specializes in Florida/California runs. If you get an open transport $1000 should'nt be a problem.
  4. Now that we have the silly stuff outa the way. Either one of you Florida boys gona be in Daytona the first week of October (ie: Nat. Convention)?? And I agree....Way to much time on you hands.
  5. Happened to me too! I was invited to a show in Ft. Meyers, Florida a while back. The car was on an open trailer in the parking lot of the hotel. I checked in went up to my room, and opened the curtains. There was this big tall guy looking under the car. I watched him from the room for a while, didn't seem to be messing with anything, just looking. Meet the guy the next day at the show. It was Buddy Baker.
  6. Wow! Somewhere along the line the car spent alot of time getting a second face lift (if it's the same car). The later pictures from Ebay show a radically different nose, no wipers, tail lights, wheels, skirts, and I think the flares slightly different. About the only things they do share are the chop, paint scheme, and pantera hatch. I run into Evil from time to time, I'll have to ask him about the car.
  7. BBS's are 144 inch pounds. Sure thats the same as 12ft. lbs, but use an inch pould torque wrench, it'll be alot more accurate. Tighten from the back side of the wheel. That way you won't mar the front side. I would do alot more checking before in did 25ft. pounds. That's a heap!
  8. This one's really interesting! I saw it in person, and it's small. 2.8 liters / 170 cubic inch 400 Hp 200 lbs. wet 4 cam - 32 valve http://www.h1v8.com/page/page/1562068.htm
  9. I assume that you are using a shut off valve to the accusump so that you can shut the valve before shutting the engine off. Then open it prior to starting to pre lube. If so, remove any air pressure from the accusump. Take a rod, or screwdriver and make sure that the piston is colapsed. Fill with oil, and reattach your hose, and valve assembly. Make sure that the valve is in the closed position and pressurize the sump. You ready to go. Prior to start up open the valve.
  10. Welcome to HybridZ, and Florida. Sure would like to see more of your car. Here'a a link to the Florida Z Association. http://flza.com/ This should get you some info on the statewide Datsun/Z scene. The FLZA is the host for the 2007 ZCCA National Convention, and it's going to be HUGE. Welcome, and hope to meet you at the convention.
  11. In my opinion, a proper cowl hood should be sealed on the underside with the only air entering allowed to be consumed by the engine intake (via sometype of plumbing). No air entering the cowl hood should mix with warm air entering the engine compartment from the grill or other. Any testing of a cowl hood for aerodynamic purposes that is not properly sealed, and plumbed seems pointless. In addition, if properly configured, any venting to the hood be situated so as not to preheat the cool air gathering at the base of the windshield to be consumed by the engine via the cowl hood. This is why you see evacuation ducts on Corvettes, and the Trans Ams on the sides. They evacuated all preheated air on the sides, insuring cool air at the base of the windshield.
  12. I think Ken has been working 24/7 for months on the 20th Anniversary International ZCCAConvention in Daytona Beach, Florida. http://flza.com/ By the way, the information that he will speak about (he has a lot of suprises planned) would indicate that this will be the biggest, and best Z spectacular on the planet. REGISTER TODAY!!!!!
  13. Now, Now. Theres plenty to do, this is Florida! Here's a link to the Suncoast Z car club. http://www.suncoastzcarclub.homestead.com/zhomepage.html Further, here's a link to the Florida Z Association. The Association represents all of the states Z Clubs. http://flza.com/ When it comes to Z only events, this year is a bit slower than usual because of club efforts being directed toward the National Convention in October. You can find more information on the convention on the FLZA site above. As for Car events in general, there are shows, or gatherings every night, and on the weekends. Track time may be less frequent, but all it takes is someone to "stir the pot" and organize the events.
  14. Car looks great Ken! I look forward to looking it over better at the Nationals in Daytona. Rog
  15. Some things really intrigue me, and this would be one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/L-K-AWESOME-TWIN-TURBO-SC300-STICK-SUPRA-RX7-300ZX-911_W0QQitemZ160106199681QQihZ006QQcategoryZ6300QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem And if it's not fast enough....Just a little more tuning!
  16. Take a look at these. I used their Oval tubing when I built my exhaust (for ground clearance). I used Aero Turbine mufflers, but I have heard good things about theirs. http://www.spintechmufflers.com/spintech/spintechindex.asp
  17. Bronze freeze plugs are a must. Check your rotation. The carbs are different. Marine carbs bowl vents over hang the intake venturi (see Pic) In case you have a needle/seat stick the fuel overflow floods the engine, rather than chance it running onto your intake. For peak performance use a marine grind cam. Switch all of the parts from your current engine to the new one
  18. Saw this on Ebay, Very Cool! http://cgi.ebay.com/Large-Datsun-240Z-BRE-Medallion-Fairlady-Z_W0QQitemZ320099277756QQcategoryZ13561QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  19. Track Time. Well...at least a drive around.
