  1. Any feed back on how the car handled with that power arrangement?
  2. Just to clarify my earlier post. It was not my intent to denounce the 305 engine, but to draw attention to the strengths of the 4.3. I believe that that engine produced roughly 20 horsepower less than the 305. With the reduced weight of the V6, and the low weight of an early s30 it could be a real runner. If the man has everything for the V6 sounds to me like an interesting, economical swap. Can you imagine a Buick Grand National engine in an early Z. I am sure someone has done it, and I can imagine it was spectacular.
  3. I was at a little garage party thrown by Bill Coffey in Gainsville Florida. Attached are a couple of the cars that showed up. The Vette (very old school cool) owned by Phil Currin (aka - Fast Phil) was very cool, and a National Champion in the 60's. The Dino was the 1975 Cannonball Sea-to-Shinning Sea winner. Piloted by Jack May, and Rick Cline the car crossed the country in 35 hours, 53 minutes. "Cannonball Jack" Jack May was in attendance. WOW, what a character this guy is, and ooooh the stories.
  4. Why not use the V6, sounds like you have everything. Probably makes more HP than the 305.
  5. It's quite expensive, and difficult to work with but I needed the ground clearance. Pretty much like building a 12 foot long set of headers. You fabricate all directional changes from per-bent radiuses that you purchase. You can't bend the oval tubing. Then butt weld your joints. Here's a link to Spintech http://www.spintechmufflers.com/ I finished up with Aeroturbine mufflers (offical muffler of NASCAR). Loud, but sounds great.
  6. Here's the way I did it. I used oval tube.
  7. It looks like the body panels and the front spoiler is taped on.
  8. HI Ken, I heard somewhere that Mr. K would be in attendance, and that this may be his last public appearance. Is this true?
  9. Is it possible to get a "sticky" on this thread?
  10. I'm in. I registered to bring 2 cars. See ya there !
  11. Hi Ken, Would it possible to periodically post a count of registrants, and perhaps location of farthest traveling registrant?
  12. This is sure to be the MAC DADDY convention of all times! The Florida group has thought of everything. And Daytona International Motor Speedway as the host location. Cars in the track, on the track, and on the "World Famous" Daytona drive on beach. Plus a chance to get on the "World Famous" Sebring 12 hour track . Plan some extra time to visit, Disney World, Universal Studios, and Busch Gardens. I have friends driving in from as far away as San Francisco for this show. I think that this will be a once in a lifetime opportunity. There's no reason why we can't get thousands of Z cars for this one. Wouldn't a caravan to Key West be cool! This will be the Place to be the first week of October 2007! Let's re-name " Daytona International Motor Speedway", "Z MECCA" for a week.
  13. Follow the link that was previously supplied to the "Vintage Wheels" web site. The picture on that page shows the adapter, and the lugs. It should be self explanitory. Of course you'll need wheels to fit the adapters.
  14. Attached are a couple pictures of ZWOLF showing the Knock Off wheels (1 lug). A Knock Off adapter plate is bolted to your existing lugs. Special lug nuts (look like allen wrench tuner lug nuts) are used to attach the adapters. These special lugs also act as the drive pins, which locate the wheel, and eliminate any tendancy for the wheel to spin on the hub.
  15. Is there a reason that you are not using Ospho. Stuffs great. http://www.ospho.com/
  16. Yes, in the Imsa body link the wheels sizes that I outlined were the ones for this car. This car has big brakes, and Koni coil overs, so I don't know about stock suspension clearance. Brakes will not be an issue. Rog
  17. I believe that it's real, and not all that uncommon anymore. Check this out. http://www.marineturbine.com/motorsports.asp
  18. You Are the Man!! I want to get a set of those stub axles myself. I'm jealous. I have nightmares about snaping an axle, and shearing a fender off. The wheels are gorgeous!
  19. I had heard that they were in a Nissan catalog for $40. Frankly I don't find it attractive. But to each his own.
  20. In my mind. Earlier in this thread we discussed that the same size brake pads are used in both AZC systems. Thus the pad surface area remains the same. Yes the rotors are larger in the upgrade allowing a larger durable surface area, and ability to disapate heat. As far as the calipers, Wilwood's site says it best; Staggered piston sizes distribute pressure to compensate for the natural variances in temperature, load, and wear rate that occur over the length of the pad. Pad life is extended and performance is measurably improved. Frankly in my mind again. I see the extra money buying me extended life, heat dissipation, increased feel/control, and predictability. Sorry, I don't understand your point. But you have a right to your opinion. Oh Yea, I like the looks too. That's my opinion.
  21. Blue over at ZCAR did this picture of my car. I have no idea how he did it, but I was impressed. In fact I may get some t-shirts made.
  22. Their not really a street tire. I have set of Michelin PS 2's for the street.
