  1. I second the concept of RB20 drop in. Stock trans mount for the win.
  2. I have an 83 swapped, and just used the stock plenum, one of Pat1's pans, a pair of the 2429 mounts, and wired it all up. Been driving ever since, and saving for mods.
  3. I wonder who all has a swapped RB20 here? Doesn't matter if it's DE or DET.
  4. Not much to it; if you look closely, there's a blank installed. Knock the blank out and after you've coaxed the dip stick out of its original place, install it where the blank was. Take the blank and knock it into the original dip stick hole and done.
  5. Yes, the RB20DE actually came after the RB20DET. Also the 20 did come in an AWD application in the R-32 GTS4.
  6. Phil you're just south of me. I'm in Lancaster.
  7. I know I'm bringing this back from the dead, but I don't wanna start a new thread. How many of you Texans still frequent this forum?
  8. I agree, the RB20 drops in almost effortlessly, and will be a totally different car in the end. Plus why go to a 4 cyl?
  9. Where'd you get that alternator tensioner?
  10. 1983 280zx (s130) w/ RB20DET still a work in progress but running daily.
  11. Did you ever find out how big of a rim that this setup would fit under? I'm stuck up here in Yankee land turning the lights back on but still want a set.
  12. What company did they work for? I work for Can-Fer Utilities. We'll be in Brewster sometime tomorrow.
  13. Tomorrow morning the Texas boys are coming to New York.
  14. Working 16 hour days, not getting back to motel room until 9-10 pm, and have to be back up at 5 am.
  15. Just got into West Virginia yesterday and expecting to work our way north in the next week. We can only do so much. Be patient with us, as in the crews helping get your lights back on.
  16. Either that or just swap out to a manual steering rack. You'll end up with manual steering anyway. You might as well start look at electric over hydraulic power steering systems.
  17. It's basically bolt in as is. Seems that getting the crossmember would only complicate matters further. You don't need the crossmember and the stock s130 trans mount works.
  18. Huzzah! Congrats on your choice of RB engine sir. Check out skylines Australia for a bit of rb love.
  19. I've personally been inside of JDM Engine Corp., and can honestly say that if the engine looks like that, they probably got it like that. Their whole operation is is inside.
  20. I'll bite for this. My Rb20 swapped 280zx needs more front brakes. Put me down for a set that will fit the stock snowflakes though.
  21. I'm off from work tomorrow so, I'll get pics and write up the wiring. That aside, I still have yet to put my Speedhut tachometer in, and am in need of a matching temp gauge. Other issues are that I've discovered that i need a new differential mount among other things, too. I'm using the stock 280zx speedo with the FS5W71B mechanical speedo sensor in the FS5W71C transmission. A/C is in the works, considering I'll have to get the fittings made onto the RB a/c compressor for the 280zx. All in all, the swap itself is not difficult at all. I would rate it as a 5 with 10 being the hardest swap to complete.
  22. With the hockey puck style mounts I used, I have plenty of clearance on the crossmember. I'll get after the pics in the morning.
  23. Just got my RB20DET swapped in and running in Dallas.
  24. Ok, so I finally got it all together, minus an exhaust from the turbo back, and installing a modified a/c system. Was trying to install that speedhut tach today, but got sidetracked with a bit of family time. It's been a long drawn out process with me being in and out of town for the last 8-9 months, but I probably couldn't have gotten this done without the help and support of Pat, in part because of his awesome pan, and his knowledge of the RB20DET.
