  1. Thanks, my next step was to adjust the afm and see if that helps. Im just currious as to why the P.O. went through all the trouble to add so much more fuel. To compensate for the cam maybe? Or maybe he is just a moron?
  2. OK, here's the low down. I bought my s30 w/ L28e NA a couple months ago, P.O. said it was rebuilt, (which i believe since it doesn't leak at all) supposedly the head had a 3 angle valve job and aftermarket cam, but he couldn't tell me what brand or any specs. I do believe that it has a cam just by the sound of it, and it performs well on top end. it also has what looks like aftermarket injectors or maybe they are from another vehicle, but they definitely look bigger than stock. The car ran like **** until I bought a FPR and wideband. I tuned the FPR to 55 psi which put idle AFR at 14.8, but at WOT it goes as rich as 10.9! What could be done about this? I'm thinking about throwing a factory L28 turbo setup on it and adjust the fuel to match, or should I buy Megasquirt and tune for that cam? Another question is how do I find out what cam is in my L28? Thanks for any advise!
  3. worked on the rear flares this weekend, still not done but all thats left is just some sanding. my wife made this sticker for me lol
  4. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/H6024-6014-7-PROJECTOR-HEAD-LIGHT-w-HID-FORD-JEEP-MG-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQfitsZModelQ3a280Q5AQQhashZitem2c5b5f656fQQitemZ190511539567QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories if this link expires, just search "280z HID headlights" on ebay
  5. thanks, the headlights are a HID conversion that i found on ebay. I actually went to tech school and learned alot about collision and refinishing and a few other things in 2005, then worked as a body man/ painter for 2 years until I joined the army. So I have about 4 years experience, plus i still do paint on the side to make extra $$
  6. I finally got motivated to do some bodywork. I started with the front fenders. I didnt want to pay for aftermarket flares so i decided to cut and pull the factory ones. and here is my motivation... a custom color i mixed up, i call it cherry Dr. Pepper lol
  7. im not actually new to the forum, just new to the s30 scene. ive been lurking around the v8 forums since i have a 4.6l 2v s130 project goin on. thanks for the welcome though
  8. Thanks for the info, I didn't know that they were only painted black 78 +. I'm going to repaint it black anyways since it looks so good.
  9. yea i thought thats what you meant. makes sense since they are H shaped lol, just never heard them called that
  10. H arm? is that the same thing as lower control arms?
  11. its an original black car but i dont know if its a black pearl. your right, i would like to get it in the air soon so i can inspect more thoroughly, but i have jacked the car up and i cant find any rust. ive already ordered a full energy bushing kit, hopefully it wont kick my ass too bad lol
  12. haha yeah i know its bobo. i will replace it soon though, or just cut it off till i can get another one
  13. just picked up this rust free 1975 280z and am lovin it! here are some pics i took of it while in ATL. i bought it for $3500, here is a list of pros vs. cons... PROS: no rust! drives great already has front air dam and rear spoiler 15x8 +0 offset konig rewind wheels in great condition lowering springs momo steering wheel 5 speed trans, shifts great polished non egr intake mani polished throttle linkage polished valve cover header and exhaust k&n intake JSK fuel rail isky cam rebuilt L28e doesnt leak or smoke oh and NO RUST! CONS: needs slight body work and paint tail lights busted out head light switch doesnt work blinker switch doesnt work diff bushings are shot slight tears in driver seat cracked dash, no **** drum brakes thats about it. i think i got a hell of a deal for $3500, what do you guys think?
  14. even though im in the process of doing a v8 swap, I enjoyed the L28 alot. it had an nice aggressive exhaust note for a stock motor, also i bought my s130 for $800 with 270,xxx miles on it, put a new battery in it and flush all the fluids, then drove almost 1000 miles round trip without a problem. it was still running strong when i pulled it out, just smoked a little. i am about to purchace a '75 280z and plan to keep the L28 in it and one day through some ITB's on it, 250hp and ill be happy!
  15. wicked rear suspension! however i am so confused by it lol
  16. glad to see you finally started this thread lol, good luck with the rest of the build.
  17. Thanks for the advice. I think I get what you're talking about, but pics would be awesome!
  18. I took the motor set back out so i could finish the mounts, patch some rust, and paint the bay. 2 out of 3 complete...
  19. it actually sits pretty low, any lower and the oil pan will be resting on the steering rack. moving it forward shouldn't make a difference. its just the damn crown vic intake design, puts the TB right on top Mustangs are the same just opposite side.
  20. man is this corner of the forum dead... anyways, i just got home from vacation so ill be pulling the motor set out soon and start working on the engine bay.
  21. I didn't have to cut my trans tunnel in my 280zx so I'm pretty sure you're good in that area. As for the rest, get a welder and start fabricating
  22. I've been working on the engine mounts for the past couple weeks and finally got the 4.6 held in place. I didn't take many pics of the mounts before I bolted them in place so I'll take some more detailed pics after I pull the motor back out.
  23. got my mckinney motorsport throttle cable, woot woot! it is designed for the s30 chassis, KA SR RB swap, but fits like a glove on my v8 s130
  24. worked on the driver side motor mount today. Luckily I had an h22 swap civic motor mount laying around that I cut up and should work good for what I need... here is the starting point to the engine side of the motor mount. now i just have to figure out how im going to bolt it to the engine... and here it is resting on the frame rail...
