I chose #2. They were fairly rusty, so it appeared as if the backing plate was part of the strut tube base. I used an air chisel and it busted right loose.

I've got my rear struts totally disassembled to do a rear 280zx brake conversion, and have all the necessary parts, but am trying to figure out how to remove the drum brake backing plate and dust shield from the strut tube assemblies. Do I just unbolt the 4 center bolts, unbolt the 2 10mm bolts holding the brake assembly at the bottom and cut off the 2 welded rivets at the top to remove them? or is there more? thanks! (every brake conversion thread seems to assume this portion is obvious.)

and the optional grill is installed 90 degrees out of what they have in the picture. Its that cheap bbq grill material that is diamond shaped, and the diamonds are oriented up and down instead of across. if you are considering the piece, don't get the $30 add-on grill.

just beat them out, it shouldnt be that hard. set it on the ground, the side that your hand is on in that picture, remove the lugnuts and strike with hammer. don't know if you need longer ones or not. When putting on wheels, you want at least 4 full turns of thread for the lugnuts.

I joined NASA and sent in my order yesterday. Someone on zcar.com said the program was over, but they said it wasn't. I actually plan on doing NASA events too, just never joined them before. another thought though. What if this Ernie guy is a scammer who put an ad in GRM, spoofed a konig email address and is just taking our $$$$?
