  1. Old High End Cadillacs and Buicks had oem stainless steal bumpers that were flash chromed. They did it so all the chrome on the car matched in color. It was actually quite common when cars still had real bumpers in luxury lines. You don't ever have to worry about a chromed stainless bumper rusting. You just re-chrome after the chrome wears off. Steel bumpers eventually rust. There are quite a few posts over at the HAMB forums on this subject. I was hoping Black Dragon had the same supplier as Harrington. Stainless has won me over many times. No point in buying thin steel for bumpers...
  2. Anybody have an xrf analyzer near the OP. I'm curious as to who actually makes these along with their make up. If a magnet doesn't stick we know for sure its a high quality stainless piece with chrome plating. I have no idea if flash plating is still popular. If a magnet sticks it may be steel or low quality stainless. This is bugging me. I want to know.
  3. I have a carpet kit for my Eurospec 1978 260z 2+2 that I bought from stock interiors. It's good quality for a molded carpet kit but it will require trimming and cutting. I also have installed a stock interiors carpet kit with the black rubberized sound deadening option into my 98 Camaro z28. Although it was a pain to make the appropriate cuts with a carpet cutter, my z28 is much much more quite then it was factory. For the extra $50 for the rubberized backing it's your call. Most of their carpets are manufactured by ACC. Both my kits arrived in ACC labeled boxes. Overall I've been pleased with their products. It's cheaper buying through them rather than buying directly from ACC. Hope that Helps Yasin -Anthony
  4. I believe they have the same manufacturer as Harrington. Harrington is a British company I believe. Victoria British is an American company. Owned by the same parent company as Black Dragon and LMC. If the bumpers are stainless steel that pretty much gives it away as the same manufacturer as Harrington. I know Black Dragon just started carrying the coupe bumpers three months back or so. If you find any manufacture labels be sure to let us know. Occasionally the bumpers pop up on ebay direct from southeast asia for even less.
  5. Those have been in production for a while some british company manufactures them out in southeast asia. The Harrington Group if my memory serves. They are even available for 2+2 models.
  6. I was out at LKQ looking for a set for my car today since it was the holiday sale. I had no luck. Every other day of the year they are packed with junked 944s I think they look perfect in a Z.
  7. I have a single din radio in my 280zx with a switch and an idiot light for my electric fans. They seem to fill in the space if your looking for that.
  8. I'm getting ready to buy a carpet kit for my Dutch Market 1978 260z 2+2. I'm not having much luck figuring out exactly which carpet kit I need. Logic would tell me my euro car has the same floor as a 1978 US 280z 2+2. My car is LHD as well. I found some info concerning RHD Euro cars by TonyD but I'm not having any luck in concern to my situation. Maybe someone could chime in before I spend $160 on carpet.
  9. The money in Zcars are in the bodies. The engines never die.
  10. I have three sets of NA L28 engines with 5 speeds. For the stock NA engines and trannies your looking at 200-300 in my neck of the woods for the pair. But I'm in houston. Local rates may vary.
  11. Tabco sells structure metal along with a few panels.
  12. Slowly painting my 260 with good old lacquer.

  13. I like the factory two tone exterior options nissan had. Black and silver is classic on the s130. I have a factory blue and silver interior. The silver always gets dirty.
  14. I don't see how they'll change the bumper over without charging you an arm and a leg. The s30 is narrower then the s130. You'd have to chop a bumper and extend it among other things. I personally really like the 79 and 80 s130 chrome bumpers.
  15. Haven't tried a low pressure hot cup. I've been spraying with an old sharpe gun from the 70s and a sharpe finnex fx3000. I'm looking for an old binks 7 at the local pawn shops but I'm not having much luck. Thanks for the Info. I'll look into it.
  16. To do a good 4 coat paint job with lacquer your looking at about 3 gallons thinned (1.5 paint, 1.5 thinner) for a car the size of a corvette or Z. When you spray lacquer most of your volume is lost as a portion of the thinner evaporates when sprayed. I haven't finished painting this z yet but I'll be sure to post pictures and details after completely finishing the job. If your interested in the paint, its cheaper to buy it from tcp through the newegg marketplace. If you have any questions feel free to pm me. Thanks Tony
  17. I remember the last time I saw it in person it was sporting a 4 barrel conversion. Megasquirt is a great improvement.
  18. That poor car has been through so many owners. I don't know how many times I've seen it listed on Craigslist. As soon as one person inherits it they decide they don't want it. I hope you keep it.
  19. I'm currently painting my S30 midnight blue with black accents but that's just my preferene. I don't like metallics when painting myself, but if your having someone else paint it then by all means paint it with a metallic. If your ever interested in some painting tips send me a pm. I'm located near baytown myself. I'm pretty local to you. Did this in my backyard.
  20. Grandpa's doing great Yasin. He just turned 68 last month. He still gets out and does things such as transmission swaps. I finally got him to give up on the Explorer. I gave him a clean Chevy K1500. You should have saw his reaction. Thanks for asking Yasin. I need to come by in December sometime.
  21. I decided when the interest in the Duplicolor Paint Shop paint thread reached its current point, I would post pictures of what lacquer looks like. The door below was shot with Midnight Blue Acrylic lacquer from tcpglobal. The paint is real similar to the PPG Duracryl lacquer system for those who are interested. My grandfather taught me how to shoot lacquer. It's idiot proof in a way as patch work melts back into old paint. It has a depth to it you can't duplicate with clear. The door was sprayed with four coats of lacquer, then it was wet sanded with 800, 1500, and 2000 respectively. I used a pneumatic wet sander with film disks. Then it was polished with 3m Machine Polish #5996. I'm not done with the door but it gives you a general idea about lacquer.
  22. When the N/A transmissions are so cheap why bother with the T5. I have half a dozen of the N/A transmissions laying around. I do like the N/A ratio better though. There's not much of a difference between the two. Grab which ones cheap.
