+1 If they were over inflated, you would have that wear right down the middle. If it were tracking wrong, the wear would be only one side.

Sorry to read about your loss. Too many no good SOBs in So Cal. Woodland Hills has become like Salinas, even Agoura Hills is no longer pristene. This is just one reason why I keep moving North. I hope thos Fockers get what's coming to them! I will keep an eye out in the Sac area!

I have never home brewed, but fortunately for me, I have had a few from friends that do! I think the blueberry one (8.5%) tasted the best as well as knocked me for a loop!

+1 I dropped my tank, took it to a place called Service Center Radiator, who boiled the tank, etched it, installed a liner called Red Coat, and painted the outside of the tank black all for $165. haven't had a problem with the fuel line since!

You think Sea Foam will work? http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=135057&highlight=sea+foam

I would agree. BUT the cat is new. I was thinking more along the lines of timing. 18* BTDC, and the mechanic said the ECU was faulty. We're going to find an ECU and swap that out and see where it goes from there.

To all who replied, thanks for your help. Here is the smog results for the ZX. I hope this sheds some light. It looks (to my untrained eye) that the NO was the culprit at low speed. at high speed it was fine. ZX smog.pdf

Thanks, Gollum! I have forwarded them your post, and I believe I will be scanning the test next week. Right now, the car is safe and sound on my property. At least they will have some peace of mind and not get hassled about getting towed. Might just pull her apart and replace the timing belt, water pump and tensioner while there, it's got about 215K on it, but I was told that it may have been rebuilt around 100K.

I may have a line on an 86 Z31 parts car soon! http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=135191

Yes, did you get your car out of jail this week? What's the scoop?

Update - He is asking $1000, but HIGHLY motivated and willing to negotiate. This car is clean, inside and out.

I am not sure the EXACT story, I have heard bits and pieces of the saga for the last 3 months. This is what I have pieced together: The car began to run a little rough, but not so rough that it degraded the performance too badly. The registration was up a couple of months ago, and when the car was smogged, it failed. They (my friend and his wife) have been going back and forth about weather or not to try to get it so it would pass smog since then. The shop they took it to (I do not know which one, but since this couple are not really "car" people, I would have to assume it wasn't one with a super high Datsun/Nissan talent [read:the cheaper the better]) began with simple diagnoses: alternator (thought the internal regulator was faulty), fuel pump (thought that was not steady), cat, and now the shop thinks it must be the ECM. I want to tell them that they need a second opinion, but they really can't afford it. They were hoping for the "oh, it's this one part, and then it will work" fix. IF (I know, if is the biggest word in the English language) my wife would let me, I'd throw them a couple Benjamins and part the thing out at my place. She'd really like that!!! [edit] I have an 82 N/A ZX parts car, but I don't think the ECM would swap in...am I right?[/edit]

Yup. I believe he is hoping (sp?) someone would take pity on him and buy it to part it out, not for a street legal car.

First of all, if this thread should have been posted to the Announcement board, by all means, please move it. Now, the sad part. A good friend of mine is rightfully upset. His 86 N/A 300ZX could not pass smog, has lapsed on registration (it's payed, but DMV won't release stickers until proof of smog is shown) and yesterday his apartment complex informed him that they will have his car towed on Friday if he doesn't fix the situation. So, without further ado: http://sacramento.craigslist.org/car/715624547.html It's going cheap.

Reminds me of a joke... Scooters are like dating a fat chick. They are fun when your buddies don't catch you!

On Tursday last, I was at a light when the guy next to me honked and asked if I was driving a 71 or a 72. At least he knew the difference between a Series I and others (if not the exact years). I asked HIM if he had one, to which he replied that his brother had a 72. We made other small talk as I saw in the rear-view mirror, a guy at the wheel of the car behind me was pointing at my car, and the girl in the passenger seat was pointing a camera phone at the back end of my car!!! About a month ago, I caught up to a dime going East on 80 through Rocklin. He slowed and we both admired each other's ride. His was the same 918 orange, with a few primered spots, but overall clean. He yelled across the drones of our motors which year. When I replied, he got all excited, for his 510 was also born in 71!

The scam around Sac is a seemingly distraught person comes to you with a 2 gal can and gives a story about how they stalled about a mile up the road, and asks you to be a saint and fill the can so they will be able to get their car started to be able to make it to fill up. They thank you and go around a corner (where their car is) and pour the fuel into, and come back after you drive off to ask someone else. Then repeat until their car is full.

See if they will accept a credit card to pay the fees. Use your CREDIT card, and NOT your BANK card. AFTER you get your car home, call the CC co and have them deny the charges.

I saw that Galaxie auctioned on Mecum auto auctions two weekends ago! Strange stuff! -
OK, instead of starting a new thread, I am raising this one... Why men should NOT own action figures.... [edit] ACK, can't make it bigger!!! [/edit]

When I was into model air planes, I used the Testors brand cement, the stuff in the orange tube, IIRC. The blue tube was a different amalgum, and did not bond as well, or as quickly.

The good doctor is right. There's no replacement for displacement, or something like that. I have also read somewhere that you can have it: 1. fast 2. reliable 3. cheap Pick any two. As I read it, the CO2 doesn't mix with the intake air, it cools the intake air pathways externally. I'm not condoning the use of the CO2 system, don't get me wrong. That's why I mentioned fabbing an ice jacket. It would be lighter and WAY cheaper. I have read that Bonneville guys (or maybe it was old school NASCAR) would pack ice around their intake manifolds to get a bit of cool air advantage.
