  1. First, a simple search for "adjusting fuel mixture on SUs" brought up 7 replies. This one will work: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=96374&highlight=adjusting+fuel+mixture+SUs
  2. 01-71 Series I, and 08-71 Series II *Edit* Yes, Jon, it looks as if we all are going to chime in.
  3. Go NGK, Autolites aughta lite, but they don't.
  4. I think I have one by Matco, but I think as long as you don't drop it, any one would do.
  5. Hey, Dan, This is frustrating!!!! Could you please tell me why I can't post attachments? All my "posting rules" permissions except posting attachments are positive. Sometimes I'd really like to be able to post a pic, or something to help explain stuff...
  6. Unfortunately, you have to have pretty small hands. It is possible to take the inner workings apart, piece by piece, and then reassemble. Here's a good write-up on power windows: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20276 There is a company called Autoloc that I have heard makes decent auto door locks, don't have any links or specifics, though.
  7. I think I like the schedule 40 conduit sweep! The airdam look sweet, too!
  8. You didn't mention the fuel treatment stuff before. I don't have personal experience with Lucas, but I have seen a video of the after effects of Seafoam. LOTS of white smoke as it burned!! I think it's linked somewhere on this site... To adjust the mixture to a good starting point, adjust the screw as seen in jdarkme's post all the way shut (up), then back off 2 1/2 turns (down) on both carbs. Then you can play with the vacuum sync tool to get the same volume through both carbs with screw #3 IIRC.
  9. Oh, what ^^^ he said. BTW, thanks for the info, guys, I haven't run water wetter yet.
  10. I have seen this topic discussed at CZCs dot com. There isn't much of a consensus, but I have read that at the factory, it was quicker/cheaper to skim coat the roof and sand smooth, than to have a body guy fix the flexy sheetmetal.
  11. In addition to what jdarkme wrote, I can think of a few things you may want to consider: Is the new thermostat an after market, or Nissan? Nissan's are larger diameter (hence better flow). Did your car have an air conditioner before you swapped your L31? That extra cooler may be for an AC unit. Is/was it an external oil cooler? I am curious, how did you arrive at 20/80 glycol/H20 mix for coolant? The graphs that I have seen tell of the other way around would raise the boiling point. (taken from http://www.bmcoi.com/CatLit/Power/APPLICATION%20GUIDES/IND.%20&%20PET.%20A&I/PETROLEUM%20A&I%20GUIDE%20-%20LEBW1414.PDF, page 96, figure 7.10)
  12. have you had the head and block boiled? There may be some corrosion or other blockage in the water jacket and/or oil gallies in back...?
  13. Congratulations and WELCOME! Sounds to me like you are a bit too lean. Is the popping when you decelerate, or when you are standing still? Is the white smoke really bad, or just whispy? Do you have the Z Therapy Just SU video? It's a bit dry, but a TREASURETROVE Of SU carb knowledge. Good troubleshooting advice, as well.
  14. That's odd, I just received $425.90 into my PP account. I didn't sell anything, either!!! Just kidding. LOL
  15. I second the motion and add that Ron Tyler take the foggie pics! (you know, for posterity!)
  16. Not a Z, but my 76 BMW 3.0 CSi every once in a while felt like it was dragging an anchor. It turned out to be a sticky mass air sensor gate. I had to open up the thing, clean it out good, and lube the hell out of it because I don't have the $240 for a "possibly" good used one.
  17. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=103836 This is a good link http://forums.hybridz.org/showpost.php?p=723473&postcount=2 Please review all the stickies. everywhere.
  18. about as hard as finding a 81-83 ZX in a PnP.
  19. It has been done (Sunbelt, Robello), but not as cheap as easier mods mentioned, and not so much reliability (wound too tight) What is that saying??? You can have it 1. Cheap 2. Fast 3. Reliable Pick any two.
  20. For a NEWBs benefit, that's not an entirely correct statement. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26063 Please see post #8.
  21. Could he have meant 7000 series, 316 stainless??? See this page: http://www.suppliersonline.com/Research/Property/result.asp?FamilyID=14&MetalID=1856&Chemical=1&Physical=1&Mechanical=1 The site is pretty damn useful as well!
  22. Oh, I forgot about the Black Widow!! What a beauty! I was doing some research and check these out!!! http://www.strategic-air-command.com/aircraft/fighter/f82_twin_mustang.htm And from a website that mimics this one: http://unrealaircraft.com/hybrid/f82_mustang.php This website is pretty cool! http://texasbestgrok.mu.nu/archives/cat_wild_blue_yonder.php
  23. When I was in school, they tought us that things visible to us as black were "perfect emitters" that not only absorbed energy better than any other visible color, but also emitted energy better. BTW, congratulations on a successful hyjack!
