  3. More funnies. THIS IS WHY I LOVE THIS BOARD. I so appreciate all the people who know what they are doing. http://www.mx6.com/forums/2g-mx6-forced-induction/194308-turbo-mod.html Post #18 says it all.
  4. Amusing thread about what people do with cars. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3471817 Example:
  5. IIRC, letting the anneal cool at room temp (no quench) is the "usual" way to retain the reduced stress, but keep the strength; Annealing in this case is the "temper". John C, do you know of other heat treatment for roll cages?
  6. Max, is that an air compressor? (it looks as if I am having the same trouble as gijonas...)???
  7. Yes, heat treating (annealing) would releave some stress in the HAZ. There are hand coils made for tube welds (think hand-held kiln) that would suffice when an autoclave large enough for the roll bar cannot be found.
  8. When I bought my car, it had been sitting for 12 years. If you are planning on driving this thing, you will need to consider replacing all the coolant hoses, soft, fuel lines, and soft brake lines. The carbs will have to both be either rebuilt or at LEAST refreshed/cleaned. As Madkaw stated, Marvel mystery oil is your friend. The choke line may be gummed up in the assembly. After the motor runs for a while, you may want to change the filter and oil AGAIN. Good luck!
  9. How can two members, BOTH with 2 posts in THIS thread alone, both have only ONE post count????
  10. OK, I just checked my '81 ZX N/A. On the starter, is what I want to call a reduction gear. On this assembly, there are two 10mm nuts, I will call poles. The positive battery cable (Blk w/yellow stripe) is connected to the pole nearest the passenger side fender well. The pole that is nearest the block has a wire going directly to the interior of the starter. There is a connector (not mechanically fastened) on a male tab with a black wire that disappeares into a harness. The Negative battery cable is directly connected to where the starter is mounted to the transmission tunnel. Does this help? [edit] should have refreshed before i submitted, KTM is all over it, as usual!
  11. Barring any electrical fix, is there any way to bump-start it (do you have a downward slope handy?)?
  12. They have been discussing VINs and model years recently at the "other" Z site. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16323 Also, zhome.com has a master list of registered Zs, with a description of models and VINs...
  13. THREAD HYJACK successful!!! Back to the issue, maybe if you coated your mirror frames with used grease...?
  14. I second what Derek says, but any generic elect. FP will do. You may want to include an in-line regulator set to no more than 4 PSI as well.
  15. LAUGH OUT LOUD at BRAAP!!! Nice one!! 25.501!!! woo HOO!
  16. click on the red square and avoid the blue blocks! http://members.iinet.net.au/~pontipak/redsquare.html
