  1. I have about 12 4 spd trannys. I am located just SE of Auburn, and can meet you in Roseville, or somewhere. All I am asking is $50 ea. You can buy two, and have a spare!
  2. Hi! I have a near flawless pass seat from I *THINK* a 73, maybe this one will suit your needs? $50 + shipping. http://forums.hybridz.org/showpost.php?p=986812&postcount=98
  3. Yes, thanks. Got it and replied!
  4. Hello. I hope all of you are well. Here's the scoop: I am out of town for a few weeks on a temp job, and my wife called me this morning to tell me that on her way to work the timing belt in her 2001 PT Cruiser let loose at 40MPH. The 2.4L motor is an interference motor, so I assume that the valves are toast as well. The mechanic the car was towed to told me that the remove/replace will be $1500. He wants to replace the timing belt then see if the head is damaged. IF the head is good, great. If not, which is the way my life has been headed lately (read: it's toast), rebuilding the head is going to be around $2300 more. This car is not even worth the $4 grand... I am up that proverbial creek. I found that V&O Auto Dismantling in Rancho Cordova has a used motor with no warranty for $1800. Then I need someone to help me remove the dead motor and install this new one, if I go that route. Does ANYONE in the greater SAC area have access to a remanufactured motor, and have the wherewithall to help a poor schmuck install the thing? Of course all food and travel expenses will be paid, maybe even a stipend...we can work something out. Thanks. Mat
  5. I am out of town right now, but I might be able to help you. I have '81 and '82 parts cars.
  6. Test your visual acuity! I got a 4.2 (lower score is better) http://woodgears.ca/eyeball/ (you have to run the test 3 times in order to get a score!)
  7. Kevin from Mission Viejo Transmission bought 2 auto trannys from me. He is a man of his word, and a pleasure to deal with. I didn't have the shafts for the torque converters, and he still bought them. The only catch was that the freight company he uses will not pick up at any residence. No biggie for me, the ACE hardware store a couple of blocks away let me drop off the trannys on a pallet and wait for the freight company. Good luck!
  8. That's an early S30 (US models, of course) door. One can distinguish this door from later US market doors by the hole on the latch end, for the exterior latch mechanism. This door, while it may fit in the hole of the late 74 to 78 S30s, it WILL NOT close and stay closed. Upon further inspection one will note that the door beam is rather large, leading one to conclude that this door was manufactured for the late 72 through early 74 vehicles.
  9. Back in HS, a guy had an old Dodge Omni hatchback (the one where a voice told you "the door is a jar") that the glass in the hatch dropped in on him during winter, but after he turned on his radio... Maybe the same type of thing. Hey MJ, if your friend needs his hatch back, I have loads of hatched and bare glass. Hit me up.
  10. Q: What do you get for the overgrown kid/drifter/retro jet setter? A: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZPpasP2acQ&eurl=http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=333818 (Hint: This is what all kids had before the Green Machine was invented) Look what's out there NOW!
  11. My inlaws sell at farmer's markets all over the central coast (from as far south as Hollywood, to as far north as Cambria (San Luis Obispo) and as far east as Fresno) and drive the HELL out of their Dodges. They have had numerous occaisions when the speed sensor gave out and left them stranded on open highway. Also, my F-i-L had the pass side axel fall out (AKA JEEP style)!! I just have an aversion to Chrysler products, I guess. One of my brother in laws (another farmer's market hauler) has an '04 (I think) duramax/allison combo. He LOVES it, EXCEPT for the fact that if you drive it hard and put it away wet, so to speak, it is subject to vapor lock. Chevy knew this and sold it that way anyway, with a manual fuel primer pump just upstream from the fuel rail!!! An ex-coworker has an '02 (I think) Ford F350 dually that he used to haul his 24 foot boat was about to either drive it off a cliff, or give it away before he decided to put a chip in it. In a matter of 10 seconds from turning the thing on to putting it in gear, the performance was such that he was faster off the line, had more powerband, and (he claims) 40% better economy. Thinking about it, might be right...if he was getting 10MPG before, now getting 14...I can see that. I guess it's a matter of personal preference. If I had $42K to throw out the window, I would probably get a new Duramax/Allison Chevy. BUT, I hear that Nissan is in cahoots with Dodge to build the platform for the new Titan...I wonder if they will offer diesel?
  12. Q: Why is Halloween MJ's favorite time of year?' A: Free delivery!
  13. Awesome! I motion for you to create a step-by-step tutorial with pics documenting the entire process!!
  14. Please see my "for sale" thread. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=140681 The car is just South of Auburn.
  15. Damn, I wish you bumped this thread a couple of times. I had what you were looking for, just E of Sac. Didn't see this thread.
  16. Anybody have a parts manual for an 82 n/a ZX?
  17. I have a guy asking to buy a manifold, but I have the two I listed off the car, and was wondering which one I should send...
  18. I have searched ZX manifold, manifold, ZX, 280 ZX exhaust manifold and did a lot of reading, to no avail. I have an 82 ZX, N/A. I cannot read the casting number on the exhaust manifold that's on the car, the intake is in the way. I have two separate exhaust manifolds, one with N33, the other with an N42 casting mark. Are either of these a stock ZX exhaust manifold?
  19. Wherever do you come up with this stuff?
  20. Good idea. An alternative for those who either don't have a welder, or cant' drill their frames is something like this: http://www.uscargocontrol.com/carcarrierstrapwswivelhooksadjrubberblocksratchet-pi-952.html
  21. I wish I would have seen this earlier! I have about 12 of them in a 5 gallon bucket waiting to be used....again.
  22. Shuttle heat sheild is super light weight ceramic with a very tough black carbon coating. I held a sample back in school. You could put a blow torch to it for 2 minutes, and in the time it took you to put the blow torch down, you could pick up the tile with your bare hands. Awesome stuff. Now, Aerogel, THAT'S the ticket!
  23. This topic is very time appropriate! Two weekends ago, my booster went out on me in my 71. I used an extra 72-74 1/2 booster to swap in. I had to make sure the reaction disk was in it's correct place, and getting the pushrod the correct length was a hassle. Oh, yeah, the clevis pin at the pedal is a different diameter, as well. I have MANY complete 72-74 1/2 brake boosters, and a few others. If anyone needs a reaction disc, or whatever other part, please PM me.
  24. HA! This same sort of thing ALMOST happened to me when I was in HS. A yellow convertible exotic car was in the inside turn lane, I was in the outside turn lane. When the light turned green, he decided to pull into the outside lane in the middle of the turn. MAYBE he didn't realize that there were actually TWO turn lanes, who knows. I was on the brakes and horn HARD. I missed being hit, and I am glad it didn't happen, and I learned something that day...NEVER be in the outside lane of a multiple turn lane system.
