  1. Davy, Sorry mate, I meant this link: http://www.cecilwalker.com/PhotoSite/asra/2002-11-30/8DatsunSamples/index.htm?1 John said they were excellent pics and I am kinda in love with that car so wondered if people knew of a place to find them? RacerX, My car has sat for the last 4 months in need of an engine rebuild. Being 5000km away from it doesn't help progress hehe. I am taking the time to learn as much as I can about aerodynamics, roll cages, and engine building so when the time comes I'll be able to proceed a little quicker. I have got a friend lined up to tig together the 4130 cage I end up designing. Have got a set of bare struts lined up to be given the Koni treatment by Allport Motorsport in Auckland, NZ. And aside from that I'm saving my pennies and collecting goodies for the car later on. This forum is place of constant inspiration and enlightenment. I love it. Dave
  2. I do apologise for dragging this thread forwards in time a number of years, but i was interested in the pics John posted of Ted Fishers car by Cecil Walker. I can't seem to find them on his website which has been updated since 2002 (hehe). Does anyone happen to have a copy of them floating around? Dave
  3. Hey mate, The second two digits in the turbo code (`71' in GT3071R) indicate the exducer size of the turbo compressor. Bigger means more hp, and more lag. I run a 0.82 GT35R on my L28ET, makes positive pressure by 3000, but doesn't really do a great deal until just after 4000. Mind you this is with a weak 5psi wastegate spring. I would say the 0.82 in the smaller GT30 turbine would be very punchy, and probably match the typical cam power range in a L28 quite well. That is just a guess, would need to think about it some more. I am sure you will be quite happy with whatever you get. Dave
  4. http://www.ozdat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3817 Long arse aussie thread on the topic. Dave
  5. JohnC, I am interested in how you resolved the oil pump/ARB interference problem. I am also interested in doing this to my race car, and will most likely look at leaning the engine over to achieve a lower CoG at the same time, any ideas on this or is it more application specific? Dave
  6. Definitely a good idea. You are still running the L6 yes? I would be keen to hear how you go. Dave
  7. Wow. It had better be a serious RB26 to match the looks? Dave
  8. http://www.jnjdragracing.com/videos/etdragradials.mpg Is the actual URL to the video I believe. Dave
  9. Hey Jess, Chin up mate, she'll be apples. And isn't SLO a long-arse way from SF? Dave
  10. Z-Gad, You are friggin nuts. Better your MPH at all? Yes I realise thats unlikely given you were tuning it and all, just curious. Dave
  11. Tony, What sort of prep do the L28 crank did you do to get it to 8500? What balancer and flywheel? How long did the engine last? More details would be great. Dave
  12. Of all the things to skimp money on, I would never EVER skimp on tyres. They are so ridiculously cheap in the states, get the best stickiest buggers you can. They could save your life. Dave
  13. I have been thinking about this a bit lately, and haven't really come to much of a conclusion, what I will say though is that I believe pressure differentiations (caused by a vacuum down one runner as the inlet valve(s) open) are much more quickly eliminated in a forced induction setup as the turbo is constantly slamming more pressurised air into the same location. I think. Dave
  14. Mario, Because race engines are designed to operate at a much narrower temperature range (in most cases) and they get friggin hot. The easiest way to get `stronger' oil that is less likely to break down is to go with thicker stuff. FWIW the local datsun guru recommends 40-70W for race engines. Dave
  15. Engine 1 Block: L28 - F54 Head: P90 Camshaft: stock Redline: 6,500 Compression: 7.38 to 1 Fuel System: Autronic SMC EFI Power: over 300hp Torque: NFI
  16. Can you share the suspension setup advice by any chance? a 1.553 60' would do me just nicely! Dave
  17. Hey Pete, Good to have another aussie on here. You can get gal threaded tube and nuts in the appropriate size from most plumbing/metal suppliers if you are looking to do this yourself. If you have access to a lathe you can then spin up the appropriate top mounts as required. Otherwise you can contact Errol Smith at http://www.datrats.com.au who I am sure can supply Noltec coil over kit conversions. Best of luck, and enjoy that Milawa wine for me. Dave
  18. How many main bearings do you think an L6 has? Sure looks like 7 to me. Wait until someone has built a L28 that will suck 30psi and see what sort of power it puts out. And call me crazy but 700rwhp from a turbo only rated to 650 flywheel hp.... does this sound suspicious to anyone else? Dave
  19. Looks like that brake boost will be getting nice and toasty. Heat shielding will be important there methinks. Looking good though! Dave
  20. And how long did it take you to climb on top of the truck to take the aerial shot? Dave
  21. ``turbo and intercooler'' you might as well have said: ``i have an engine in my car, how fast will it be?'' Dave
  22. Nice one. I'm in Fresno for the next couple of weeks. Best of luck with the install and if I can help at all, gimme a buzz? Dave
