  1. What you might do, is go to your local Pick & Pull. That is what I done for one of my 351W engines. I took me a bucket, went scrap engine pile and got all the bolts that I needed. For the Timing Cover, it has different length bolts in the cover. The bolts on a 302 & 351W are the same, as for as I know. The bolts on the cover vary in the style they are made, depending on what year of accessories you are going to use.
  2. I would say it is worth it. You can't beat the price for free. Make sure that you send the block and heads to a good machine shop. Have a valve job done on the heads and the block hot tanked and everything checked. This way you will know if you have a good starting point. Then go ahead and get yourself a decent (flat tappet cam), intake and carb. Then down the road if you want, you can chage out your heads without pulling the engine. Or you can take your time and build yourself a good powerful engine and then swap out engines. Like ( joesphg ) said, the hard part is already done.
  3. Yes the 94/95 have a longer input shaft and a deeper bell housing. It puts the shifter back a little.
  4. Just a thought ; the 221 , 260 , 289 engines have a 2.87 in. stroke and use the same crank. The 5.0/302 and 5.0 HO have the same 3.00 in. stroke and use the same crank . And the 351W has a stroke of 3.50 in.
  5. The 5.0/302 , 289 , 260 , 221 V8 engines run a flat tappet cam with the ( 15426378 ) firing order and the 5.0 HO and the 351W engines run the ( 13726548 ) finrg order . The 5.0 HO in 1985 started running a roller cam. The 351W started running the roller cam in 1994.
  6. Now there is some good imformation. You have saved everyone alot of searching. Thanks!
  7. Nice car, I'm still trying to get started. But still gatering ideas, trying to get the time, and also the extra cash needed.
  8. Beautiful job Terry They look awesome and where did you get the kit from?
  9. Here is the link to the crank that I used. I also had it balanced at 50oz imbalance so that I could use my 5.0 flywheel & balancer. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/351w-393-408-418-427-Stroker-Crank-SBF-Ford-MUSTANG-RP_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33616QQihZ016QQitemZ260126062793QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V
  10. Ok! This one should work. I didn't delete the http// from the box. I tried it before I incerted this time. I figured out how to fix the problem in the other two. They work. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BUDGET-393-408-418-427-FORD-Stroker-351w-MUSTANG-TMD_W0QQitemZ180188764711QQihZ008QQcategoryZ33620QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  11. For some reason the link did not copy or something. Hopefully this one will work. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BUDGET-393-408-418-427-FORD-Stroker-351w-MUSTANG-TMD_W0QQitemZ180188764711QQihZ008QQcategoryZ33620QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  12. Hey! You can build a 393W dirt cheap. You can get a 3.85 stroke crank on ebay for $149.00 , the pistons are late model 5.0 / 302 or 393W to clear the crank, and use the stock rods. The pistons run around $220.00. Or you can get a kit, that includes ( crank, rods, pistons, rings, and bearings ) from $679.99. Here is a link to one from ( The Mustang Depot ). I bought my pistons from them and they had wonderful service. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BUDGET-393-408-418-427-FORD-Stroker-351w-MUSTANG-TMD_W0QQitemZ180188764711QQihZ008QQcategoryZ33620QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  13. Very nice job, good and clean, just like the factory but better.
  14. Don't tell me you one of those black holes where things disappear into also.
  15. If you can compare both covers on the sid where the dipstick goes into the one. You may be able to modify the 95 cover by drilling a hole into it for the dipstick and then be able to use tha cover and water pump.
  16. I forgot to mention that you will need the 351 oil pan also. The 351 has a larger rear main seal. The timing cover from the 289/302 will work on a 351W. You have to pay attention to where the dipstick is on your engine.
  17. Hey there! Your car looks good and with the combination of parts you have already, it looks like all you need is the 351W block, intake, distributor and the stroker kit for your engine. The 351W engine is only one inch taller and about two inches wider than the 289/302 block. I've been running a 392/393 what ever you want too call it for a little over 5 years now. It uses a 3.85 in stroke crank, stock 351W rods and a late model 302 piston. I have only about $1500.00 total in mine. With your heads, cam and the right intake, you could make an easy 500 plus HP with a 392/393. I am using the Hawks Racing crank that I got off of eBay. I paid $249 for it and now its only $149. I got a 94 roller block cheap and built it up. I found out the hard way with it though. With my combination, the compression ratio is about 1.6 to 1 higher with the 302 piston. I got all my parts off eBay for it. It makes close to 480 lb ft of torque at 2000 RPM. I've been running it in my 94 F150, soon to have one in my 77 280Z. And I can't wait.
  18. I have not bought the crossmember yet, but (Alsil) is the guy that makes and sells it. The last time I went to his web site, I think it was $125.00 is what he was charging for them. I don't know what the link is. I just went through the threads till I found his name. He has a link to his web site when he posts to a thread.
  19. Hey Z240, could you post a picture of the front of the block, that shows the the two round spots? That would be for the people here that has never seen a Mexican 302 block.
  20. The 351w roller blocks were from 94 thru 96. It started with efi around 1988.
  21. Now thats a nice and sharp looking job that you have done there. You will be amazed and pleased with the 383 in your Z. I've been running a 393 in my 94 F150 and it will slap you in the seat, even at 70 or 80 mph. I can just imagine how it would be in a little Z car with a standard tranny.
  22. Looking good man and keep up the good work.
  23. WEll some of the 94 model truck 302/5.0's came with mass air, also in 94 they came with the roller camshaft. I have have of them and they both came with mass air, also roller cams. The cam is not a performance at all( junk ) . The truck 5.8L / 351W in 94 came with a roller cam , but not with mass air. The 351 is about an inch taller and around 2 inches wider. You can up to 427 cubic inches out of a 351, also built with the right components, you could get 500 or more HP and the same of torque out of one.
  24. Hello TDMCobra, I'm up here in Florence, just north of Georgetown. If I were you, in which I'm not, and could get my Cobra ( since I don't have but wish ) fixed for around $5000.00 and with money left over. I would get it fixed and find myself a decent 240Z / 260Z or 280Z and get started with that. 5.0 engines are plentiful at the wrecking yards and fairly cheap. Over in Belton on East 190, there is a new place called Budget Pick -N- Pull. There phone number is (254-939-6700). He has got quite a bit of Ford cars and trucks in there. Also he has about the best prices around. Also if you owned your Cobra outright and it did not go to the insurance storage yard. You may come out with a clear title instead of a salvage title. I have a 1994 Ford F150 that has been totaled twice and still has a clear title. Good luck and keep us posted.
