  1. I forgot. the intake I have have had it for some time now. I sold my Boss 302 intake on ebay and bought the other when they first came out. I paid $50 more than what you can get one for now. http://pricemotorsport.com This place here has all sorts of intake adapters for putting Cleveland heads on your engine. Also Trick Flow now make a Fuel injection intake for the Clevor.
  2. Well I'm back for a couple of weeks. For me, I like having the extra torque that these engines put out. This will be the first that I have ran in a car. I have two dirfferent ones in 94 F150 extended cab. There is nothing like an engine with the torque to push you into the seat to where you have trouble reaching forward. They did not rev much over 4500 rpm in my truck, and my truck had a high top camper. Along with around 600 lbs of tools in the back, at all times when driven. Those engines had the stock 5.956 rods and 5.0 pistons. The Clevor engine is going to have the (6.03 long) 302 Cleveland rod and the Boss 302 piston. I'm going with the 2bbl heads, for large open chamber to lower compression. I still may have to have the domed pistons milled some to do it. With using those heads I know that I'm adding extra weight to the front end, but I am going with my old rebuilt 4 speed Top Loader (wide ratio) tranny, along with a 97 Explorer rear end, with 3.08 gears and posi diff. Since I don't have an overdrive. I put a 89 Bronco ii (23 gal) gas tank in back in the center, with my mufflers on each side.
  3. I'm leaving shortly, but I gained almost 3 inches, by cutting out my rotton frame rails, and replacing it with the 1 1/2 x 3 tubing. I like long tube headers more than shorty's. I'm going with a stock bore, 3.85 stroke 351W, with 2V Cleveland heads, and an Edelbrock Eboss 351 intake.
  4. Well I'm going to running a 387 Clevor in mine with long tube headers. My frame rails were shot, so I cut them out and welded in some 1 1/2 x 3 in rectangular tubing. I also turned it flat and ran to the back of the car, to act as sub frame connectors. I have not posted any thing on it yet. I used some cheap Fox body headers and changed the flanges.
  5. Look at the new 5.0 from the F150, it is alot cheaper, and other than the intake manifold. It looks real similar to the Coyote 5.0. They probably changed the cams, like they did on the 90's 5.0's that they put in the trucks. Not performance at all.
  6. Now the oil pan having a front sump on it, I never crossed my mind. It has been over 40 years since I've messed with the FE blocks, and I've been working with the rear sump 351W's for so long that I never thought of it. I'm sure that there has to be someone out there that makes a rear sump pan for the FE blocks. But finding it might take a little searching, but I think it might be worth it. I'm using a truck pan in my car. I've done so much fab work on my car that it's hard to imagine, and changed just about everything on the car to Ford parts. I have people asking me when I'm going to have finished so they can go for a ride.
  7. Well they stuffed the 390 into the 67/68 Mustangs. So with a little bit of fabrication experience. You should be able to shoe horn it there. I cut out my frame rails and replaced them with 1 1/2 x 3 rectangle tubing and gained enough clearance for long tube headers. Put it in there and be different. Don't be like everyone else. You will have people asking, what is it, and how did you do it. Just about everything on my 280/630Z is Ford now. Its me about a year to do it all, but I'm getting close to firing my engine and going for a test drive. Still waiting on my rods that I ordered from ( Aus Ford Parts ) out of Washington state. He's got to be the slowest person for shipping stuff. I'm building a 387 Clevor for mine with my 4 speed Top Loader tranny, and Explorer rear end, with 3.08 gears and 8.8 Trac Loc diff installed. Well enough on that, just go for it and be different.
  8. From looking around on the net, it looks to me that the problem with using the 5r55e, would be getting it to mate up with the 400M. The 400M uses the 429/460 bell housing bolt pattern, and the 5r55e uses the 3.0L/4.0L bolt pattern. The transmission is modeled after the C3 transmission, and the bell housing comes off like the C4. I can't remember if they put a C4 behind the 400M or not. I only saw the 400M with the C6 tranny, but that was in trucks. I know that Ford put them in T-birds up to 1979, but I don't know what tranny was behind it. As for handling the power of the 400M, I found on Wikipedia where they state that the (4R44E rated for 440ft/lb torque )and the ( electronic shifting. 4R55E is the same but heavier duty and rated for 550 ft·lbs. )(The 5R55E, though mechanically similar to the 4-speed 4R55E). If it were me, I would check to see if a C4 bell housing would fit the C3 tranny, and if Ford put a C4 behind the 400M. I'm sorry that I got carried away again.
  9. ( www.pricemotorsport.com ) Makes intake adapters for the 400M to put 351C or even 351W intakes. I saw the intake adapters and a 351W intake on ebay earlier this week for the 400M.
  10. The 302C had a 3 inch stroke and used a 6.025 inch long rod. I odered a set from AusFordParts out of Battle Ground,Washington just north of Portand, Oregon. I'm going to use those 302C rods and the set of Boss 302 TRW pistons, along with my Scat 3.85 stroke crank in my 351W. Standard bore to get 387.4 cubic iches. Cleveland heads and the Edelbrock EBOSS 351 intake. I've got 2 barrel and 4 barrel heads to use. I'm doing it to be different and I've got the parts on hand, except the rods have been ordered.
  11. My linkI found a set of headers on ebay, that look like the set that I used. This is the item number on ebay (370596866637). The descripion for them is ( NEW HEADERS LONGTUBE 79 93 MUSTANG FOX BODY CAPRI 5.0 ). You can copy and paste either one, and go to ebay and it will take you to the item. I will try to add a link, but I'm not sure if will work. Thats why I put item number and descripion on here. It went up top, so I don't know if it will work.
  12. They are just a cheap set that I picked off flea bay awhile back. I've had them 4 or 5 years now and I don't remember what brand. I got rid of the box not long after I got them. They were for the 5.0 in the fox body Mustang. I had to modify the number 4 tube for my steering shaft. I also had to get a oil filter relocation kit. I had to rebuild my frame rails, since I could take a screw driver and poke holes in them with it. I used 1 1/2 X 3 rectangle tubing for it and gained a little over an inch clearance between the frame rails doing it.
  13. The 400M has the 429/460 bell housing pattern. The heads are the same as the 2 barrel Cleveland. I'm using them on my 351W in my 77 280z. Also I'm in the process of changing the header flanges on my long tube Fox body headers. I've done some major changes to make them fit. Its been a pain but I think it will be worth it in the long run
  14. If you go with a T5, the input shaft is about 3/4" longer on the 94-95 trans than the 85-93, so that makes bell housing deeper also. You can put a 85-93 tranny on a 94-95 5.0, as long as you have the matching bell housing with the tranny. The upper intake and throttle body is about the biggest external difference between the 86-93 and the 94-95 engines. You can use just about any transmission that you want, as long as you use the right bell housing. I'm going with a 3.85 stroked, stock bore, 351W out to 387W, with a 4 speed Toploader from my 67 Mustang, along with a cable operated clutch. I've been playing around with it and I just about have it figured out how to make it work. I've got tear everything apart again, so I can finish welding every thing up, and try not to make any more changes.
  15. That neat pile of parts is pure eye candy, it is what some of just dream of getting our hands on. I'm just going with a 387W, stock 4 inch bore with the 3.85 scat crank. Along with long tube fox body headers. My torque boxes, and floor fell apart while I was waiting to get started, so I just cut them out along with the frame rails, and built a new frame with 1 1/2 x 3 tubing. Thats how I was able to use long tube headers. I can't wait to see yours going and watching a You Tube video of it.
  16. That is for the 67 thru early 70's Mustang mount. That crossmember looks to be one of ones, a guy on here that goes by Alsil used to make and sell.
  17. Yes I believe it is Dave. It looks alot like the crossmember that a guy on here, that went by Alsil used to make and sell.
  18. If you look at the K-Members where the engine mounts, they look pretty close to the same. I was looking at pictures on ebay at them and they look close. I know they are different though from what I have told. I'm not sure what the difference is. It may be the position of the engine from front to rear, like I said, I'm not sure what it is. I have to get my car back into my shop as soon as I can to pull my 351W out to stoke it and to finish welding up every thing that is just tack welded in place. Also when my wife lets me get back on it, I will set the 4.6L Police engine that I have in, to check it out. She has got me building stuff right now, so I can't get a car in my shop at the moment.
  19. I for got to mention, that my wife has my shop tied up at the moment. She has me building things again. So as soon as I get that done, I will get the car back in there and check the 4.6L out.
  20. I don't believe that there is a kit for the 4.6L mod motor. What I was talking about is, as soon as I get the chance. I am going to pull my engine and take a close look at. I know that the Mustang K-members are made similar for the 5.0L SBF and the 4.6L mod motor. The differences are in the motor mount area. I have to pull my engine and tranny so that I can finish welding every thing up. Thats when I'm going to stroke my engine out to 388ci.
  21. When I pull my 351W, I think that I will see about it. How much difference they are. I believe that all you have to change is the motor mount area, the rest should work. I have 2001 Police car engine that I thought about droping in my 77 280Z. But I had freshly rebuilt 351 on the engine stand and a 3.85 stoke crank on the shelf waiting for a home. So thats the way I went.
  22. Have you thought about using the Hydoboost from a Mustang GT.

    4.6L??

I can't seem to find the thread that has the 460 engine size. I didn't look at the other close enough. But it has the mod motor dimensions though.

    4.6L??

Here you go Quin. I new that it was here someplace. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=150532&highlight=ford+engine+sizes
