    pedal assy 1

Hybrid Z clutch pedal assembly to use the Mustang clutch cable instead of a hydraulic slave cylinder.
  2. Thanks Mike; But how do I go about getting the pictures to this thread.
  3. Well I got the pictures of the pedal assemblys on my computor now. Now I have to figure out how to insert them here. It wants the URL of the Image and I'm not sure how to get that. I need some help with it. I'm running XP home edition.
  4. I finally got a chance to get the peddal assy out of the car. It was more to it than I remembered. The steering column and tach had to come out. I have another 280Z crossmember and Mustang crossmember that I will get pictures of, with the one that I modifided, so you can compare them. I'll get them on as soon as I can. My work has picked up. It makes it hard to get things done, but the extra money is good. Got to run now.
  5. It sounds like you have the fabbing skills, so the converting the clutch to cable, should not be too hard. I'm not sure how to post pictures on here, if I get time this weekend, I'll see about pulling out the one that I converted and try to get some pictures on here for you. I'm not sure what plans my wife has made as of yet.
  6. Yes , I took both of them and made one. After I painted it, it looked like it came from the factory. I measured the Z cross member or what ever its called, then lined them up and cut both and made one. It was cofusing to me at first, until I set down and thought about it. Since you have the whole car, and you are good at fabing things up, you might be able to use the Mustang steering column by adding some metal to the cross member, to attach it to the dash. I would have done that if I had the whole car to work with. Good luck, its not hard to do.
  7. If you can get a peddle assy from a 94 & up Mustang, the way its made. I beleive it would be easier to make the conversion with. Just looking at the pictures on Ebay. They are square just past the peddles and you would not have to cut it off, just the Z cross member. Measure both, then cut the Z one.
  8. Well I took the pedal assy out of my first 77 280Z and got the pedal assy and power brake booster from a 91 Mustang. I took the pedals off , then I cut both in half, then I used the booster to mark the holes, I drilled and then mounted the Mustang half, then the 280Z half. I got some small strips of metal around the same gauge, clamped it in place and tack welded it in the car. Then I pulled it out and finished welding it. It works great, like it came that way. My wife got the car at an auction for $5.00 without a title. I done that conversion about 4 years ago before I found this wonderful site. Now I've got one with a title and getting to do the swap on that one.
  9. The 351W has a 1 inch taller deck, which in turn makes the intake, right around 2 inches wider than the 302. The main journals are also larger on the 351W, than the 302 also. So the 351W oil pan will not fit a 302 either.
  10. Get one of the kits that have the extra clutch disk and it will handle alot more hp.
  11. Now thats the way to go. 4 or 5 or 600HP
  12. Well I know the 91 5.0's came forged pistons, but I'm not sure about the crank. They were 9 to 1 compression also, that is if I'm not mistaken.
  13. It is, but you can't modify it very well. If you do, you will need to change the pistons.
  14. Don't get an 86 model. If you want EFI, get 87 and up. The 87 & 88 came with the speed density system and 89 & uphad the mass air setup. There is something about the pistons in the 86 model. If you change heads, the valves hit the pistons. The heads also have a different chamber.
  15. Looks good and the way I thought it would. Just enough room to slide your hand down the side between the towers. The SOHC has a little more room. I've got a 01 Police engine and tranny that I have been debating on installing into one of my two 77 280Z's.
  16. What year of F150 mount is that? My 94 F150 5.0/5.8 does'nt look like that. That almost looks like the Mod motor mount. 4.6/5.4 The 5.0 truck mount only two mounting block holes, not three like the one in the picture.
  17. Looks right at home in there, like it came from the factory. Good work
  18. Its made like that to clear the rotation of the crankshaft.
  19. If you use the rear sump pan, make sure that you use the long pickup tube and screen that reaches the rear sump on the pan. As for the pump, you can get it at any auto parts store.
  20. The rear sump oil pans have a extra long pickup tube that reaches to the back of the pan. The oil pump mounts below the distributor. The 351W oil pump is larger or deeper how ever it is, to clear the longer stroke crankshaft.
  21. The 351W mains are 3 inches, the 302 mains are 2.2486 inches, according to my Ford Racing book. The 351 just won't fit a 302. The 94 - 96 F150 and F250, with the 351 came with a rear sump pan. I'm not sure what they started, but it probably back in the 70's or 80's.
  22. The Blowzilla, I think is what its called. It will fit the GT-40 EFI lower intake and I think its a twin screw type supercharger.
