  1. For a front sump pan for your 351, you can get one from the early 90's pickup's. Mostly the F-250s, and some F-350s, but there were some F-150s with the 351/5.8L.
  2. It looks sweet in there, and you are an inspiration.
  3. Oh yes, that's sweet looking, and sounding.
  4. It looks sweet setting in there, you've done a great job.
  5. One of these days my health will get better to where I can get mine done. I keep changing things on mine to try and make it better. I had Heart problems 2 1/2 years ago, and it's been one thing after another.
  6. Well it looks good with those wheels. I hope to be back on mine before long. My health got me down for awhile, and now I have two other projects, or rather rebuild a 4.6l and reinstall in my Van, and get my truck to pass the emissions to get it back on the road.
  7. Well I've had health problems, and other vehicle problems, that have kept me from getting mine done. I know what you mean two steps forward and back. Sometimes I took two or three back and then forward again. My problem is that I kept getting more and more extreme on mine. The only thing that's Datsun now is the shell, the rest is Ford or I've done like you, and made the parts.
  8. Your doing some awesome work. I can't wait to hear it run.
  9. That's pretty good stuff, and it's good to know.
  10. Check the Mazda Miatas for the axles, they have the Ford IRS with the 7.5 Diff. and they are closer to the Z's width.
  11. Your swap looks good, but the picture of the tranny did not look like a T-5 to me. I have several T-5's and none look like that one.
  12. The older OHV Ford engines started with the Y block ( 272, 292, 312 ) engines that I know of. The FE block ( 332, 352, 360, 390,406, 410, 427, and 428 ) engines. The Small block is the ( 221, 255, 260, 289, 302, Boss 302, 351W, 351C ) engines. The Big block ( 351M, 400M, 429, Boss 429, 460 ) engines. The 335 Series engines were the (351C, 351M, 400M ). The 385 Series engines were the ( 429, Boss 429, 460 ). The ( Boss 302, 351C ) had canted valves instead of inline vavles. Also the ( 351M, 400M, 429's, and 460 have canted valves. The The 351M, and 400M heads look like the 351C heads on the outside, but the have open chambers, and small ports like the 2BBL 351C heads. The 351C 2 and 4 BBL heads are marked with a 2 and 4 where the heads mate with the intake, where the Boss 302, 351M, and 400M heads have no markings. The SBF and the M engines share the same bore spacing, and you can use those heads on a Windsor engine using the Boss 302, or 351C style piston. You have to make sure you have the right Rod, piston, crank combo for it to have the right Deck clearance. If not the piston will either stick to far down in the block or stick to far out of the block. I've been messing with Ford engines since 1970, and I have alot of books on them. I like the 351W over the 289, and 302's because you can get close to 432 CI out of a stock block.
  13. Yes I used the 94 F150 sbf mounts with a custom fabbed cross member out of 1 1/2" x 3" tubing, the mounting points out of 1/4" plate. I have made so many changes, it's getting hard to remember them all. I just had Right shoulder surgery, so it's going to be awhile before I can get back,on the car, with too many health problems slowing me down.
  14. Well the GT40's have smaller ports and valves. They are 1.84"/1.54" where the heads I'm going with have or are going to have are 2.19"/1.73". I have one set of Boss 302, one set Quinch 4V 351C, one set Open 4V 351C, and a couple of the 2 barrel heads. Then I have two sets of the forged TRW 10.5:1. and one set forged TRW 12:1 pistons. I've been sick for awhile, so I haven't had a chance to check the clearance on the piston skirt yet. If it doesn't, i'll buy a new set of SRP pistons for the Boss 302 that I've found. I'm going to use the 6.03" rods from the 302C from Austrailia. I have two sets of those, or I may buy a set of the 6.00" SBC H beam rods, and have my crank turned to match them. I want to check the clearance on the skirts before I buy any thing. My dyno program shows around 550hp & 540 tq at the flywheel.
  15. A 351W / 5.8L will clear the hood, you just have to lower it down a little. I'm going to be running a 387 Clevor in mine. A 3.85 stroke with a standard bore, Boss 302 pistons and heads, with the Edelbrock intake to match, then a 750 Holley, and long tube headers that have reworked to clear my frame rails.
  16. There is plenty room for the 351W in the engine bay. You have to get yourself a pair of block hugger shorty headers, unless you do like had to do. My frame rails had rotted out on me, so I cut them out, and replaced them with 1 1/2 x 3 rectangle tubing. I have enough room for long tube headers now with Boss 302 heads on my 351W.I used a pair of Fox body Mustang headers and welded Cleveland flanges on them.
  17. Well Rudy, mine went on hold for awhile. But I'm about to get back at it. Health problems was the cause. I'm using my spare 3.85 stroke crank in my 351W and will give me 387 ci or 6.3L. Boss 302 pistons, and heads, with the Aussy 302C rods and Edelbrock intake port matched. The dyno program shows just under 600hp at the flywheel. Thats why I called it a Boss 630Z. It aught to be fun to drive. I've modified everything except the exterior of the car, with the exception of the fuel door. Its on the drivers side now, because of the 23 gallon 89 Bronco 2 gas tank. I have Long Tube Headers with the Flow Master 2 1/2" dual exhaust kit installed with a removable H-pipe. My frame rails had rotted out, so I cut the and welded in 1 1/2" x 3" rectangular tubing for the frame rails, and gained close to 3" between the rails.
  18. The 5.0L Coyote should fit between the shock towers, with a little room left. Just for grins, I dropped my 429 SCJ, down in my engine bay to see how it would fit it had about 4 inches on each side. I'm working on my electrical stuff now on my 1977 Fordsun Boss 630Z . My power windows, locks, and mirrors with a 2000 Mustang wiring harness and parts. The windows and locks work great. 351W Stroker with standard bore. And hello; Rudypoochris. Long time no see.
  19. Hey BubbaDog; Where about's in Texas are you from? I live in Florence, just north of Austin. I've been playing with my 77 280Z for about a while now. Still changing things up as I go along with it. It's going to be a 630Z when I get planted in for the last time.
  20. Well like the others have said, the info is here, and a lot of it. Mine, I'm going old school with it. I am stroking a 351W out to a 387. It's a 3.85 stroke and a stock bore. The heads are the 4 bbl Cleveland heads and a edelbrock E-Boss intake, and long tube headers, with a dual 2 1/2" exhaust. I've got a 97 Ford Explorer rear end in the car, and if I can't get the money for a TKO 600, I'm going to use my 4 speed top loader tranny. I've all ready got it set up for the 4 speed. If I go with that one, I'm going with 2.87 gears for mpg. I'm in the process of making tubular lower A arms, with 03 Mustang Cobra spindles, Struts, and Fox body Caster Camber plates. I also found that My 429 CJ fits in the engine bay. I may put it in my other 77 280Z that I've got. Well I've rambled on to much, and I better get. I tried to show a picture with the 429 CJ in the car, but it's not working.
  21. A 427 Clevor is what I thought about building at the first. I've still got it in my head to build one for my 79 F150. A set of the 4bbl heads which I also have and a good intake and cam, and should run.
