  1. always liked the primadonna Zs... now there is a fourth...cool
  2. It looks like that Oregon tag has had a hard life...
  3. control arm moves foreward and rearward slightly and sounds bad. I had about 6 or 7 different noises coming from my rear end. I converted to coilovers, installed new bushings, insalled new struts and all the noises went away. Also check the big nut on top of your strut housing. The one that keeps the strut in place. If it is loose it will sound bad. Your halfshafts could also be loose and that would make a noise.
  4. that 0-60 of the ariel atom is not MPH. It is in KPH...atom is closer to 4.5 sec.
  5. yes except for real...lol. I smell a video cooking up...literally
  6. I have an electric fan on my 260. Looks like a 14"er. It came on the car when I bought it. It is definitely nice to have sitting in traffic and not overheating. I have a 3 row radiator and with this fan and it won't overheat sitting in traffic, black car, mild performance motor... I'm happy with it.
  7. well I haven't deicided what I am going to do for paint. Definitely not all black. I want a two tone. Maybe a red/black but in a more dark red. I only had $16 in paint and $25 in sandpaper and rollers etc.. I am planning to stay L-series with my car but it won't be any ordainary L-seies. I have thought about a black bottom half with a lime green top half...who knows... I might even paint it like an old BRE car...
  8. I have had several complements on my exhaust for some reason. I have some mystery header with very different length tubes (up to 8 inches difference!!!) a straight tube running back to a cheapo turbo muffler. That is what came on the car so I don't know where the header came from. I think the header is what makes mine sound like it does. Here are some videos. (nice exhaust sound video) ( a 4 minute long video including driving sections) Video Hosting - Upload Video - Video Sharing in this one you can really hear it. click on the above picture. all that on a mostly stock L26...I don't know why it even makes that much power so high in the power band. It just keeps going on upto 6500. It probably has a slight regrind on the cam but I am not sure. I just hate those valvetrain noises...lol
  9. I think he spends every penny he makes...ever read Wangan Midnight? lol. oh yeah I am an ME major... or at least in a month I will be when I leave for college. and I believe that "huge fmic" is a china special...lol yhat is what happens when you start doing a rediculous amounts of cool stuff to a car.
  10. so when are we going to see pics of this beast driftz240?
  11. hmm... Yeah I will be looking for some good front fenders since mine were trash even before the free fender flares. The rears are still salvageble as the ZG cut line is outside of my "free" flare modification. I will be cutting my fender wells out to provide maximum clearance for my tires. I am going to get my car as low as possible without sectioning my struts. That means camber plates instead of slotted towers. I have dubbed this project "Loudmouth Z" as it will be just a little loud with a minimal interior and my already screaming exhaust. I am just going to be running a straight pipe to a Super Trapp "muffler". I am going to have my new exhaust fabricated from stainless steel since I am tired of this nasty rusty exhaust. I may build two engines at once to have my "Loudmouth special" and just make my L26 a mild street motor with maybe a regrind on the cam. If I can get another Z for like $500 to put that L26 motor in and make it a reliable daily driver that would be cool. Who knows. The possibilities are wide open at this point.
  12. yeah...I am looking to build a motor the right way (clean) so the rest of my car will have to go along. Since I have my car gutted I was getting tired of looking at this monster truck Z in my driveway so I dropped the coilovers all the way down...WOW. I now need camber plates so I can run it that low and still have travel left in the struts. The diff is like 5" off the ground. I can barely fit my jack under it. Once I get this motor built then I'll have to post some good pics of the car...I may get some air tools so I can paint the car for real instead of this rustoleum stuff. Rustoleum is great for a beater but I have been driving a beater for several years. Time to hoke it up I guess..lol
  13. still...Zs don't have good areodynamics until 1990. but what would the fun be in starting with one of those? No engineering challenge at all...
  14. This is the one he is installing... If plans haven't changed.
  15. austin...your car is for sure hot... one of the BEST LOOKING Zs on here. You still have to do some stuff to get it as fast as some others on here but you are JUST using a "stock spec" L28et. Can't imagine your car with a 3.1 stroker turbo... just watch out..I am gearing up to completely redo my Z ground up with a quick motor. even though I am a year behind you..
  16. aha...finally somebody that likes steelies...steel wheels are so cool
  17. yeah...I don't live in texas...I am in good ol' GA...
  18. by the time you had a car that could go that fast it would not be a Z...you would need in excess of 800 horsepower to be able to move a Z (which Zs have the areodynamics of a barn door) to 250mph... there was a realy long thread called "240mph 240z". Search for it. Look at that and there is quite a bit of discussion on what you would need to get a z that fast. One thing you need before you can even think about going that fast is at least $100k US dollars...but if cost is not an issue go for it... :-)lol
  19. hmm..the wind tunnel thread just sort of died when I found out that to have realistic air flow over a 1/25 scale model it would take like 1000+ mph air... I have thought of using my pressure washer and placing it back a few feet and watching the water flow over the model... Hybrid has slowed a bit but not too badly.
  20. hmm..well it is not too bad... actually it is pretty cool. Just grind off everything and then paint it camo. When you get done with this camo fad then you can just polish everything... J/K...
  21. Well before I used the mothers polish I did use the hose and cleaned the entire head off. Then used a stainless steel brush to clean out my exhaust port runners. I found out the polish does pretty good for cleaning gunk off of aluminium since it is a very slight abrasive.
  22. pictures! the back side of my mystery header... here is some scoring but it is not too bad. here is the score mark on the #3 cylinder. It looks new and seems somewhat related to that noise that I was hearing. It is deeper at the very top of the score. here is after some cleaning with a towel and Mother's Auminium polish. finally got the head clean enough to where I can pick it up without getting covered in oil and grease and other gunk. bagged all my pistons, bearings, end caps and labeled them all.
