  1. I knew it! there were 2 saab sonnets down at the volvo shop and they both had some sort of bodykit on them. like a small Z... the sonnett looks a little small though

  6. the car was sold back to a certain person that will remain unnamed for about as much as you could buy a fair condition 240z...about half the value of the whole engine. They had no clue what was in the engine...
  7. your welds are looing better O' young padiwan welder...you are coming in better union with the weld force!!! J/K... I know MIG is hard on thin metal...I did it on mostly 1/4" and 3/8" steel for qualifications. I did a few thinner things like on yard art and other similar stuff
  8. I just bought an engine lift and stand so I am putting them together now. Hopefully the motor will be out tonight or tomorrow.
  9. I can't get in. I used them once...but Iused it to push the coils apart so I would not rub tire on stock fenders...that was with stock suspension...those things are really low quality. the threads were busted up onthe bolts that I used when I went to coilovers...
  10. lol..my car was getting like 16-18 tops...Now that I am pulling my motor apart the front 3 cylinders were too rich and the rears were too lean. Not good. I should probably get a book on tuning SUs.
  11. how did they mount the cameras? I am guessing they slid a mount under a bolt head or something. Or possibly a big magnet.

  16. progress this morning! my rare header that I am going to get recoated...(me hoping something I own might be valuable) It is impossible to remove this one piece exhaust with the engine in place. Here is the end opposite the hole on the end of that broken off piece. Here is the side picture again. The above view is looking at the right side in this pic. There is what is left of two stacked intake/exhaust gaskets. Who would stack gaskets???

  19. here is a view of my #3 and #4 exhaust runners...cleaning time...imagine the amount of flow lost from that crud..
  20. Well my exhaust is stupid as it is one piece from header to tailpipe. Bad leaky welds too. I am pulling the exhaust out this morning.
  21. well I have heard of 30mpg in a very mild 2.4 with a very mild cam, MSA 6-1 header, and early SUs. The owner was an older gentleman that obviously knows hot to tune his car. don't know what ou mean confident. If your drivetrain is solid then it should be fine to drive that far. If your 260 is like mine no. I have no insulation , header-2.5 exhaust, turbo muffler at the back. After 20 minutes of driving constantly at 3500rpms you can't really hear.
  22. see. My 2.6 shortblock is ok. I want to build a 3.0 but I don't know if that is possible to bore out my block that far. It is proven that the 280 block can go to 3.2 but nobody knows if a 2.6 can go to just 3.0.
  23. I think a stock radiator was being used...for a Z with "390" untuned horsepower it is going to overheat. Plus it had a holset turbo. The boost was nowhere near the planned amount. 19-23 psi was being used while 35psi was what was planned on. Timing problem was fixed later after the race. They needed at least 4 more hours to tune. The race was 4 hours earlier than we were supposed to race originally and it made a difference.
